It provides the basis for anything like it to be episodic in nature. One queue, one phase.

Also, this could easily function with one player, as well as 8. As stated in the original post.

That said... i don't think it would work on everyone. Some people are just... not good players, and i think it would be a frustrating thing for a player who might not improve.
I know a couple players that left after bisex and ravex because they couldn't beat the fights. Other people weren't geared enough to literally carry them so they could not clear. Sometimes players are unteachable

This I think may be the most valid point I've read in the entire thread.
Should a tutorial exist, (for brevity let's consider it to be an 8 person tutorial)
and a player is still completely unable to complete the phase regardless of training it will very well not only embarrass the player; it will be standing proof of truly not being good enough.

No tutorial will increase your skill level. This I agree with everyone on. Having some raid experience in my theory would better prepare players for the battles ahead: However no machine will be able to repair what you have proposed.

Glad you appreciate my post. But just to clarify I'm not against your idea at all. I would love to see people improve and this could be a tool to assist certain players. Some players are very bad under pressure and so they avoid harder content because they don't want to get yelled at or let down the party, and this would be a great way to instruct them on how more difficult mechanics work. It's annoying trying to teach a healer how to watch for prey when it's 5 minutes into a fight. Wipe. Ok. 5 minutes. Wipe. Phase breaks. Mechanics pausing, so their eyes and brains can take the time to understand what they need to watch for.

This would be such a patronising feature. Tank pulls then everything stops until the next mechanic is explained? You might as well turn the whole thing into a QTE sequence then. Press a random button when promoted to as the game pauses then watch as everything resolves itself for you.

The two-tiered raid system we currently have already fulfill the purpose of easing first time players into raiding by having a diluted, less punishing version of an encounter followed by its difficult version, if they feel inclined to prove themselves there. No need to try and cater to the lowest denominator of players and make excuses for their inability to improve themselves,

It's meant to be a training course. Everyone in there is there to learn or teach.

The fact it's currently possible to learn (or teach people) how to do encounters in this game without this level of hand-holding should tell you that implementing such an endeavor would be a waste of dev time and resources. How about players instead apply their own initiative and take on their own responsibilities instead of looking for the game to spoon feed them everything?

How many people would raid if they only had a tutorial? I feel like the main barrier to entry is having to play on a schedule, get seven other people you trust, and to be thick-skinned enough to take criticism. Not to mention being willing to lose real-life friends over a video game. If the only thing stopping someone from raiding is that they're bad at mechanics, I'd advise them to stay away, tutorial or no, because they'd probably be miserable doing it.

As i said in my previous post, not everyone learns at the same level even if they may be able to be as good as a regular raider, it might just take them longer to adapt to a faster pace where making a mistake becomes a wipe. Now... let's imagine your best friend wants to raid with you but he's a little slower on the uptake. Would you really want to waste you whole raid group's night or week trying to train his brain? In a raid simulation like this he could learn to look for the different mechanical ques on his own time or with others that want to help. Not every mechanic is just "watch the boss for a cast bar", there are mob buffs/debuffs, player buffs/debuffs, ground ques, cast bars. There are a lot of different things our eyes are better at detecting. Now, if you remove the added pressure of 7 other people relying on you not to screw up 5 minutes into the fight, some more players could actually be able to enjoy end game content.
So other than "development time" there's no downside. I dont PvP so i could argue about the development time they put towards that, but some people enjoy it sooo. I get that it might only help a few hundred people, but if they want to get better, i think it could help.

I'm going to say no mainly because it seems like hand holding, i just don't agree with that way of learning.
You learn through your failures that means wiping over and over.

Too bad raiders don't know how to number 6....in fact, they focus on giving out 4, and lots of it, leading to people interested in raiding to be alienated out before they even begin.
