Overgearing content has become a serious issue.

Gotta disagree here. I know exactly where each action is on my controller and can easily get to the ones I need at the proper times(Cross-hotbar is a good tool for that). On the contrary, I find I have the most difficulty with a keyboard. It really is up to what you find easier to work with. On a sidenote, I do no such trimming. 32 actions across 2 hotbars attest to that, not including my pet hotbar or the one I set for PVP.

So does everyone think it's impossible to have fun/make good memories actually doing current content? Or that you can't have fun doing low level stuff quickly or undermanned? Ive caught up both new and returning people to current stuff and it doesn't sour the experience at all that older stuff is done quickly and without as much stress since there's still the current stuff for that type of experience if people are looking for it. Getting through old content just lets you catch up to what everyone else is doing so you can be more involved with the community. This might just be coming from players that value spending time with friends over gameplay challenge though. There's nothing worse than being held back and feeling that you will never be able to catch up.

To be fair, you don't even need to unsync to be able to ignore mechanics in most 2.x HM fights - the iLvl sync is too lenient and appears to allow some scaling with higher-level gear, so we can now be synced down to 50 and absolutely blitz all 2.x primals before new players even understand what is happening.

Oh new Players will learn Mechanics as soon as they enter the new 24 man Raid and the newer Primals and if not they will never finish this content.

If you put everything down to the old times, new Players will not Level fast enough to keep the game attractive for them and they will probably give up on the game and thats what every developer wants to avoid and they are doing it with nerfs for the old contents to bring newer players faster into the endcontent. Thats a natural development in every game.

If you realy want that new players learn to play, the option of leveling by fates has to disapear. This is the biggest problem in terms of new players and learning, because you don't need to learn anything for fates.

I think this is solved pretty easily.

iLv synced to the average iLv of the player who is new to the instance, massive bonus given to those repeating it.

You'll get veteran players farming for new players ATT.

I'm pretty sure the Wiping City of Mhach will put any player in their place. Also, when I read the OP's post, all I could think about was the pre-nerf Steps of Faith. I'm almost certain that it was impossible at minimum ilevel back then.

I'm starting to think this has a bit to do with what is conversed in another thread about the steepness of the difficulty curve for the newest content.Someone there astutely pointed out that the new content is 150 hours to the game and people should have learned at that point. That is true for the players who have spent the time this far in increasingly harder content and learned on the way. However some people who have come in a bit late and get a breeze through earlier content due most of the rest of the group being way overgeared even on a synced run don't really have that much chances or reason to learn anything. If they bring in lower dps it's not noted because the others have damage more than enough. More interesting boss mechanics are not reached. Then they are dropped to the current end game content and people wonder why they don't have skills they themselves honed when they had to due no one being there to carry them. And thing is these new players don't necessarily be carried of their will. It just happens because everyone else wants to get out as soon as possible so they don't necessarily even become to realise where their own skill goes.

No one is overgearing current content so what is the issue? Why should we also not outgear antiquated content?

OP feels new players are not getting past the learning curve due to veteran players running the old content synced from a much higher level and iLv from gear. I can understand where the OP is coming from, but I feel the issue comes from those who level too quickly without learning the in and outs of their job and their role.

A speed run is basically a crash course for a new player. You are still required to fulfill the objectives of the instance, certain mechanics cannot be avoided, and bosses still need to be burned down. Because of these things, along with solo content being highly tutorial, I feel that over-geared players isn't a valid excuse for continued inept play inside of an instance.

On a side note, a pacing player can run content over-geared as well if they take the time to acquire the best possible gear for their current level. Of course, an over-geared group will carry an under-geared player easily, and some players know this and take advantage of it. That is how I am sympathetic with the OP.

On the other side will a player who knows what he does almost always outclass players who can only do stuff because of a high ilvl. ;)

And lets be honest, its true that new players don't learn much during leveling, but they will if they come to the newer stuff. And how many of the Veterans who are playing are not able to play their classes right and are not able to handle mechanics? I think its at least a very high amount because they just did fates to level.
