I have to disagree with pretty much every thread that pops up on this topic. People have been making this argument since Heavensward launched without understanding exactly what they are looking at. Heavensward, like 2.0 before, has not been fully released. What you're looking at, much like 2.0 before, is the first chapter of many with subsequent chapters being released in a predictable timeframe (every 3 months if I recall). The strategy is every bit a staple of MMOs, to keep you coming back for more. So what if there's only leveling dungeons and 2 level cap dungeons. That was pretty much all we had at 2.0's launch, too. Now look at how many dungeons 2.0 has. So many they actually shunted Heavensward content onto their own Duty pages to keep things decently navigable. I'd honestly reserve judgement until they release the last of Heavensward's story content, then you'd have a better metric of where it measures up against 2.0.

Well, I'll just don the flame retardant underwear before saying this, but in my experience, people who raid regularly are not casual players. raiding requires the completion of certain aspects of the game and gearing up to particular levels to be practical or doable. Ignorance would be blindly following the crowd without considering alternatives. Outside of raiding, my DPS as a Paladin is not a major difference maker. If this game were to boil down to the only thing that matters being DPS, then every melee attacker better stack STR, ranged physical attackers better stack DEX and all casters better stack INT, because that's all that matters. Oh, and let's just change the gear drops and rolling rules so that tanks can roll on DPS gear while we're at it shall we? Personally I think that blindly following the common thought that DPS is the be all and end all is a pretty strong display of ignorance in action, but what do I know, I play Paladin.Quote:

That's trully some extreme dedication and playtime required to be adept at raiding. -

@Valkyrie_Lenneth: Right, but again, that can be accomplished without killing aspects, and making the story worthwhile. Even taking a look at just T1-T5, it's cohesive, explained and relates to what has happened and each other. The next coil, and the next, are even better. Meanwhile, what is the Oppressor, the Living Liquid, the Manipulator? No real details, just 'Illuminati forces' and 'you explored', sometimes not even crediting it a fight! Instead we're supposed to care more about Marysue Touchyscar and Allthoughts, no-shows in the battle arena. I seriously skipped cutscenes after the first two as soon as she touched that damn scar, that's how bad it was. Plus it does seem like they were trying to do something gear-wise with it, so why not ensure people are going to be interested in doing that long term? It's also currently the midcore ceiling we're being served whether it was only for Story or not, and compared to what 2.0 offered to the midcore, it's outshined.

Ignorance is not understanding that adding X stat provides a DPS increase of 2% where Y stat provides a DPS increase of 3%. Neither stat provides anything OTHER than DPS, so choosing Y over X is obvious. Choosing X over Y is ignorance.
I also feel that I was clear that I WANT secondary stats to be more appealing and offer other things than DPS. Unfortunately, as the game is now, it's designed to only focus on DPS. IMO it makes all 2ndary stats worthless as game code.
