If the duration for AF increase, people would just attempt to squeeze in more Fire4s before casting Fire1. The community will always try to find ways to do more, to squeeze in that extra bit, if you increase the potential for something carelessly, the community will abuse it.
Many of the issues being complained about don't change.
It evens out a little bit when melee are required to move out of range. Proper use of instant procs can help alleviate movement as well as knowing the mechanics for when you can go optimal and when you dial it back so you -can- go optimal when your windows open.
No different than any other class.
i don't think the amount of times melee move out of range during a boss fight is close to the number of you have to move....
Most boss AOEs either target all dps, randomize between non-tanks, or aim in a direction.
First scenario, everyone has to move, and circle aoes don't always surround the boss so the melee may have to move or miss a positional to keep hitting, but most of the time they can still keep hitting.
Second scenario, there are melee and ranged specific aoes, and while in older content there were more melee specific aoes, most HW content targets both ranged and melee pretty evenly.
In the third scenario, if you're unlucky to have the AOE face you, and this aoe is a cone, the AOE is smaller the closer you are to the boss, so melee only need to shift a bit, whereas if you're a bit further away, the safe zone may be further away depend on how close to the center of the aoe you are.

I don't even have to use fire 4 at all and can get same dps or better. I've tried all sorts of rotations and i just don't need to use fire 4 at all. It restricts your movement as well cause your trying to squeeze in as many cast as possible. Just not worth hassle to me if i can do just as good with fire 1/3.
