That so many times over. I hated seeing every other thread being astrologian based.

No matter how you cut it, Astrologian is on par with White Mage and Scholar. The buffs they have, all have their own effect and place, so you cant really compare them to White Mage or Scholar, and vice versa. Its not that they have stronger shields that makes them more powerful than Scholar, or the fact that Astrologians have the same potency heals as a White Mage so they can burst heal almost the same; Astrologian was just made to be close to equal as possible. So lets cut the bullshit with AST v SCH v WHM. All three of them are now equal
-Sincerely, someone who has WHM SCH AST leveled and tried all three in A1s.
This statement hits me two ways -
Original interpretation's reaction: "I don't believe this statement. Variety =/= Replacement"
Re-reading statement 5 times reaction: "Yes, I agree, all healers should be able to step up to the plate when any other healer is not present/alive" (IE, equal footing, just different playstyle)
I agree with this statement (and I disagree with people who sit and only pimp one class as if opinion were fact. *Stares at an individual*) No healers are going to die. As long as players playstyles are mixed there will be a healer mix. The requests in raids may varying-ly slant instead of being stuck in WHM/SCH, but I don't believe a class will 'die'. Some class styles just aren't a person's cup of tea. I never felt 'in control' when I was leveling SCH and a little awkward with AST (it's the royal roaded card effect memorization...).Quote:
Baseline: WHM/SCH are not dead, ASTs are simply brought on par on the healing front with other two healers.
As Cynfael mentioned - I main WHM and I quite honestly can only just shrug and say, "Yay :D Good for ASTs!". I just don't care/I don't feel threatened. Why should I? WHy should anyone? Granted, I don't raid in Savage, etcetc /shrug
I'm not worried - nor do I care about who is best at what and where. Both WHM and SCH have already proven they can raid - so I'm not worried about that. if anything, it will just bring more combinations, instead of *JUST* the WHM/SCH optimized combo. WHM/Noc. AST, SCH/Dia. AST, Dia.AST/Noc.AST, etcetc.
The only ones complaining are the bad healers who used to pin the blame on the astro when the party wiped,
Most of us are quite happy with the changes.
If you are worried about astro replacing you as sch or whm then maybe you need to (and I hate saying this as much as the next person) git gud.
After playing with some of the changes, I have to say I'm very pleased. It still surprises me that they changed the baseline potencies, but I see it as fine. AST now has a competitive place alongside SCH/WHM and I can see them creating some great combinations. I still think CO is a little lacking for such a long CD, but at least it's not so long now. I'm excited to play alongside ASTs as well while playing SCH/WHM.
I think people who are over reacting don't really look at the full picture, as there is far more to consider than baseline healing tool kits. AST still lacks in many areas where SCH/WHM can shine, but at least now AST can also shine in areas where SCH/WHM can't.
People will complain regardless, Even if they changed all our classes in potatoes wielding flying submarines. One potatoe will be bigger in a specific situation and you know it! *CRIES*
Now they'll just be threads filled with people whining about ASTs replacing them...
And let me put it this way, before these buffs, you could micromanage the piss out of AST's abilities to get nowhere near the benefit of just playing a SCH/WHM normally.
Now, you can micromanage and actually be effective as a healer.
That said, AST still is lagging behind the other two, though by a far smaller margin than it was previously.
While it's still a little early, I agree with this so far. I feel that taking AST is making the gamble that your preferred cards for your group comp and strategy (mostly, but not limited to Balance and Arrow) will be available more or less when you can make the most of them. If RNG totally screws you, you would have been better off with SCH or WHM; if RNG is favorable, then perhaps the choice of AST will have been validated.
Either way at least AST has an opportunity to shine. My napkin math is not strong, so I'm curious to see what sort of theorycraft and actual parses will crop up to evaluate AST's new potential.
