I won't be too surprised if there's a Heart of Sabik-y mechanism at Silvertear(hence the 1.0 cinematic) that'll eventually be used in Omega's reactivation.

Speaking of maps I hope we get a full world map soon, I wanna see where mentioned cities/provinces are actually located and how small eorzea is to everything else. (Aldenard is apparently the smallest of the three connected continents.)
The Warring Triad stuff is probably going to be dealt with as a continuation of the Extreme primal quest line (speaking of which, we still know almost nothing about Unukalhai, and whatever Urianger is up to), since that's the only place where it's really been paid that much attention.
Nidnogg, on the other hand, will probably a continuation of the MSQ.
Yes, thank you Cilia. I'm also pretty sure he was never actually meant to be relevant, for the record, but for the love of the Twelve you have to admit he is still a really freaking bizarre outlier in a setting with otherwise fairly tight rules on what is allowed to show up where.
Also, pedantic correction: he's formerly of the Circle of Knowing, not the Students. In fact, he's the only ex-Circle member we've seen outside of the MSQ. Hmm, sounds familiar. A single outlier can neither prove nor disprove anything. That's what makes them an outlier.
I expect part of 3.1 will be dealing with the fallout from overthrowing Ishgard's government. Either stopping a counter-revolution and/or preventing a Jacobian bloodbath.
It's a bit odd, but I wasn't aware that it was a hard and fast rule that "Student of Baldesion" = Important in the Main Scenario. It's just unusual to meet one, since the Students are from Sharlayan which is a traditionally neutral nation. (Think Switzerland.)
I'd argue the bar for MSQ relevancy is whether or not they have a voiced cutscene. Though this makes Elidibus unusual in 2.x, you know he's important since he's a friggin' Ascian, and lo and behold he's voiced in 3.0.
Correct on Rammbroes; I realized it when I was trying to get to sleep.
That's precisely why I think it's odd. It would be one thing if we ran into a small group of Students out on an expedition somewhere, at some point, just doing their Baldesion thing in a small side-story with phat lootz and exp to reward us for stopping to say hi (I actually expected to see one in Heavensward). It's quite another when [kupo] starts going down with the Students in the MSQ and, lo and behold, in that very same patch we have a Student of Baldesion, and the first with a name and somewhat-unique model, at that, dropping in to hang out with a number of known, voiced NPCs from the main scenario. Ramnbroes actually even cites the Isle of Val incident when calling BS on Doga and Unei's shabby cover story, but that's the last anyone mentions of it, and the entire thing is simply forgotten once the hook has served its purpose.
Sure, there's no rule, and sure, it's a subversion of our expectations, but what does that subversion actually accomplish for the purposes of world cohesiveness and the ongoing narrative? I suppose there's always a possibility of an upcoming Postmoogle quest where the Students send Ramnbroes a letter asking when they can expect to have their observer back, but until then, it's really just a weird convergence of outliers that's just sort of sitting there on a small, isolated island in an otherwise connected setting. There has to be a connection somewhere, at some point, right?
