Yes, yes I would say there is no way you can "need abuse" in DF. You knew the rules very well before you queued up. You may want to call it being a jerk, but not abuse.

And that's the thing, there is no possibility to change DF rules. And the point is that the rules could be made better. So why not make it better?
Let only those need who actually need the gear, and the rest shall have the same fair chance to get it.

Well If your alright with that then i suppose there's no arguing you on semantics. I for one have seen it a million times in large raids where geared out DRG lots item for glamour when new DRG gets screwed out of a better piece of gear because of glamour or, even worse, GC seals.

If your okay with a system that allows this type of thing to happen... then I guess there is no way for me to argue because we are standing at two different standpoints. I think this sort of thing is an injustice and you don't.

I disagree with this quite a bit. Why shouldn't glamour or desynthing be qualified as under need? Someone could have run a dungeon once and the gear upgrade drops and the other guy gets it for glamour but the one looking for glamour ran it 50 times already without a drop.

If I really want an item that is an upgrade for someone else, I will ONLY pass/greed on it instead of needing IF the person actually asks for it. Im not going to check their gear beforehand and even if I do I'm not giving it to them if they dont actually ask me

I can see where desynthesis would present an issue in this. As it has not ilvl requirements.

However, the "only if they ask" argument is something I have alot of trouble putting stock in. I don't think people should have to rely on the fairness and kindness of others in a faceless environment.

I also stated earlier that I feel Glamour only affects yourself and is therefore not a need. The gearing requirements and damage output, etc. affect an entire party and should be more important than what skirt you are wearing.

Thats kinda my point, you shouldnt have to do it. The system should be doing it for you.

IDK what if end game for me is glam? What is need and what is greed is up to the player at that point. We both put time in why should one person have a "better" reason to need something? I agree that somoene just pawning it is in no way fun and probably not a reason to need (nothing sells for much anyways) and is primarily what greed is for since it is assumed you are gearing up the current class. If you are using the gear be that glam, ilvl, or stats there is no "better" need, just need for what goal you set forward.

Which I would 100% agree with. If there wasn't content gated for ilvl. Again the fix proposed has no bearing on 4 man instances, it would only affect those larger raids.

The game put limits on what people are able to do with gear. Is it fair to block a new player from new content based on the purely cosmetic look of a character?

I would argue that it's not.

This is a video game :p there are only Wants. Some player's focus is purely on stats, in which case their wants revolve around stats and levels. Some players focus on different things. Neither is more important than the other, they're only more or less important to individual players. The current system doesn't presume one way or another.

The proposed systems in this thread probably are more fair, yes, but only for one type of player. The system in place now is fair toward all play styles.

what about content gated for ilvl though. leveling doesnt get you there. Neither does the ninja who looks pretty.
