Turning DRK into a tank was a huge mistake.

I would have dotted them anyway, if he wants to get a speed run he needs to accept the DPS will out DPS him.

They usually get good 50+.

don't forget the ones that pop all their cooldowns before making the pull, and then you need to spam heal them like crazy

Still, wouldn't you rather have a tank that struggles with mitigation in a VIT build? Sure, the goal is to take off the training wheels when you're ready, but if your tank is still getting the hang of enmity, positioning mobs, or heck, learning what your skills actually do, why not have a bigger window of opportunity? I know when I started tanking, we'd be 10-15 seconds into trash, and I would be so focused on maintaining hate I'd forget a CD or two, remember, and pop them. Tunnel vision happens, especially with shiny new jobs. I understand that, after a point, overgearing for VIT is a wasted effort. Unless your healer is dipping into that last 10% of your HP to add DPS, you'll never see benefit from it. However, gearing for VIT for mistake tolerance isn't a bad thing. Just because something CAN be STR tanked doesn't mean it must be, unless you're confident enough in your ability to do so. If you can, great! We'll shave off a few seconds in the run. Going STR for the sake of STR, all else be damned and let the healer pick up the mess, is when problems arise.

Paladin has Stoneskin and Divine Veil both which scale off their HP, I consider those pretty important.

both VIT and STR have a place, but unless you're comfortable with tanking with STR go VIT first.

What does bad players have to do with the job being bad? Tbh, I find WAR to be far rougher to heal than DRK right now.

Would have preferred DRK as a damage dealing class, but I'm enjoying it as a tank well enough. :l

I also don't play it as a DPS class while tanking.

The problem with DRK is its just a meh job. Doesn't DPS like a WAR and doesn't turtle like a PLD. It also has major TP issues with nothing to help.

DRK was a great tank in 11 and in 5. (most people didn't tank on DRK in 11 but it was very popular for progressive endgame groups around 2008ish, especially for Kings,Wyrms and Khim/Cerb)

I have all 3 tanks geared at lvl60 and don't see DRK being used much. Sure its fine in faceroll content like Ravana and Alex NM but when savage comes out it just isn't strong enough to replace WAR or PLD.
