I could argue that they should make an AH instead of developing a feature that's been met with hostility since its inception.

Exactly. Especially considering that an Auction House wouldn't exactly be difficult for them to figure out how to implement... in fact, they already know how!
Then there's the fact that the market wards will never reach the levels of convenience that even the simplest Auction House could bring considering that you must go from ward to ward shopping around in the bazaars and also that it would likely take less resources to implement than restructuring the market wards (and you can't say they don't need it)
I got three words from history for the op
JEUNO, STORMWIND, ORGRIMMAR
players will always gravitate to and form a primary hub town. trying to stop it is like trying to tell the tides to stop coming in.
Yes you could, we can beat the horse even more. Sorry I forgot on these forums any mention of market wards or auction house causes that thread to degenerate into a pointless discussion of AH vs MW.
That wasn't my point. I could careless if they implement an AH or keep the market wards. Since we still have a market ward instead of an AH my OP is based on that. It's a post about decentralizing Ul'dah, something I know many players would like, because unlike most of you we would like to make another city our home place.
I agree. ^
Also, if they focus all the crafting guilds in ishgard and give ishgard a market ward then ul'dah would be decentralized, this doesnt mean taking the crafting guilds away from the cities they are already in, just focusing all of them in Ishgard. Connecting the markets is not a good idea imo due to the fact that in XI, people starting out could (usually) sell items without too much competition compared to jueno, enabling them to make slightly more profits. At the moment it may seem like a good idea because of how low the populations are, but if the game ever gets as propular as xi, this could be a bad thing.
i can name quite a few that go to the required guilds for the support only. i am one of them and so is every other high level crater i know. we all go there to make any high level gear and grab master support.
also since the treatise requirements for crafts are going away along with the guild support requirements on crafts that is another way they are removing the need to go to the other cities.
why would i go to limsa if i no longer need smelting training or support to make iron nuggets? i don't.
if tanning training is no longer needed why would i go to grid to get leatherworker leves? i don't.
it's not about being Jeuno or WoW, it's about the fact that you will never be able to "decentralize" a hub city that players have decided upon until another location is decided upon by the player base and they all move there. There will always be one city that is massively populated while the others are ghost towns. It happens in every MMO (even ones with global chat channels and global linked auction houses). it's not a bad thing, it just is
I understand what your saying Panda, and I know you can never fully decentralize any hub. I even agree with your point, yet I'm asking for those of us that want to chose another area outside of Ul'dah to be allowed to without being forced to have to stay in Ul'dah.
