It might not simply be a matter of our physical or magical power. I've had a theory that a great deal of the power of the WoL is the effect s/he has on the people and world around them. We are often refered to as a 'beacon' and such. Back when we first beat Lahabra he says when all the light images of our allies form around us 'the Light binds them Together!'. Do remember the power of the echo allows us to pass beyond the limits of our own soul.
Simply put strength of our influence may be growing to the point of the gods. Perhaps we are reaching the stage that we are almost able to apply a form of 'tempering' with the light.
I still am now hoping for a gentleman of Darkness.
That is another very interesting point. Maybe they are manipulating not the WoD but the WoL to cause the greatest amount of chaos.
Since the beginning of the story, the Ascians send us to kill Primals and collect their ''Aether Crystals?'' but we have yet to see what those coloured crystals actually do. I personally don't know yet. Maybe the Ascians are actually trying to destroy the balance by making the Warrior of Light too strong thus creating more chaos. As far as I know, they don't seem to care seeing their beloved Primals be defeated over and over again by the same freakin' person! If we do get back our Blessing of Light, maybe the combination of all these crystals will skyrocket our powerlevel and will make Hydaelyn go crazy for some reason thus forcing a third party to send WoDs after the WoL in hope to weaken them.
might just be elidibus that gets that. he seems the most level-headed of the bunch...unlike Lahabrea ugh.
as for us gaining more power. in the trailer it shows that our blessing does get restored, meaning Hydaelyn is probably well enough for it to matter.
and the visual representation...it's become a lot more ornate.
heres our normal blessing during the main scenario:
here is the new one:
Speaking of the Ascians. We will get to see the old reaper looking ones. It looks like all out war folks, and not with Isgard or the dragons.
Well, we know from the Primal Ex quests this is the case. The Ascians effectively force us into a arms race vs the Primals to keep the Primal threat under control. As pointed out in the quest, we really have little option in this as leaving the Primals alone only guarantees a lot of damage done from their consumption of Aether.
This is one of the reasons I suspect that, while the WoD might not exactly be an ally, they are likely to be enemies of the Ascians. If the WoD's goal is equilibrium, the actions of the Ascians are as much if not more of a threat than our own.
It sort of sounds like the warrior of darkness might be directed at the viewer. This is my first MMO so I don't know much but is a darkness vs light thing going on in WoW with Horde and Alliance? (had to look that up) Maybe further down the road we can pick a side to fight for??
We used those crystals to form the blade of light that we used to banish Lahabrea from Thancred's body... The six of them combined are what gave us the Blessing of Light in the first place. They shattered when Midgardsormr sealed our blessing. There's not really much to speculate on with regards to those crystals beyond what makes them unique and why the primals had them.
It has been clear for a long while that the Ascians wanted to make us stronger though; the cutscenes after the original three extreme primals were quite explicit about that. Given that the Ascians seek to sow chaos everywhere it would be in their interests to strengthen the light purely to trigger a retaliation from those of darkness and start a war. The voice that spoke to the Warrior of Darkness may not have been an ascian. There may be another higher power or neutral party getting involved.
Anyone else think the Warring Triad may have something to do with keeping the balance between Light and Dark?
