Letter from the Producer, XVII (09/01/2011)

Looks like the game will be at where it should have been at lunch come patch 1.21. Makes me really happy but it sucks that i have to wait 3 months to see that patch live.

Anyone else agree?

It's true that I've missed this bit of info when it was said before.

Maybe I was just taking for granted what airship rides as a feature means that I didn't even think about it.
Anyway I hope they truly keep on working on them to have some gameplay too. I agree that we don't need another screensaver-ferry ride.

No matter how I look at it as this is the first time the truth about them dawn on me I can't help but feel really disappointed about the way they decided to implement them.

I love airships especially in FF series. Even the design of the XIV ones looks cool.

Cool letter and I am really looking forward to 1.19.

I am however pretty sad that jobs are only coming in 1.21. It's the system I've been waiting for the most. I love how the game is improving and am thankful for all of the dev team's hard work but stuff sure takes long. @.@

Well, thankfully I edited that real quick =p

I must say I dont see the new airship ride coming before the area redesign. Surely we will be able to see the world "as it is" while flying and that cant happen until they change everything up or else they would be working double.

I do hope they add something like a random chance of being attacked by Garleans while we ride in the meantime by 1.20 or 1.21, instead of the instant warp we would see another cutscene right after showing imperials boarding the ship!, maybe another way of getting deaspected crystals.

I gotta admit you have a point there.

The best part of the ferry/airship rides for me in XI was the fact that you could watch at the scenery while crafting on the ship. No point of making those graphics for nothing.

Yeah but where did they say 1.21 will come out in 3 months? 1.19 is late september, 1.20 should be 3 months after... 1.21 3 months after 1.20 so that makes it 6 months? Unless they churn those patches faster i don't see 1.21 as being ready for release anytime soon.

I feel ya but thinking about it i rather they take their time for that one. The job system is one of the most important aspects of this game and i would even wait to 1.22 or 1.23 if they take their time to make it right.

If 1.19 Comes out Late September (which seems likely) that's 2 months from 1.18 which would put 1.20 in November and 1.21 in January ( my Birthday month ^.^) So I believe it will be done in 4 months =)

I hope they can continue with the two month between patch timeframe. But seeing how they are working overtime and during the weekends, I wonder how long they can keep up with that schedule (unless 1.19 is the exception and they need to have it out before the one year mark so the seasonal event is ready too at the same time).

I have not seen all of the Letters from the Producers, but has there ever been anything in the "Future/Current Plans" parts about a new search feature in the game? Like doing /sea all con 25-30 or anything like that? Or the addition of flagging for party like in FFXI? I think the lack of a proper/useful search is really holding back the experience for me at the moment. =(

As far as the actual letter goes, it all looks great. I am very much looking forward to the airship rides and chocobos! =) I was hoping the Job system would come sooner than 1.21, but that's okay. I hope they release information about it soon, though.
