The DPS sub forum is full of players asking for change and proposing new things. It's a bit messy, it's true but people are questionning game design a lot there.
I admit players often ask for changes so fundamental to the game, that SE will never implement them.But not one time did a Dev tell us that no such change could be imagined in the game.

You must be new here OP, lol. Glad you have discovered how much they actually do respond. Here are a few things to take into account.

1) your comment/the comment you might be referring to may have been brought up in the past and already responded to. I wouldnt expect SE to respond every time the same question is asked, especially when there might not be any new information to divulge.

2) the devs and team are (mostly) in Japan, The responses we get have quite the process to go through to get official responses, permission to post, etc.

3) The devs do indeed listen, at least since Yoshi-P has come on board. Through his live letters, his written letters, personal dev posts and posts from the forum admins, There is a lot they listen to and react to. 2.0 is a result of listening to the players. Its a lot to explain bot I've been here since 1.0 beta and the changes that have happened, mostly through player feedback, is astounding. If you want, I can give some examples but it will be a long post.

4) You use LoL as a reference, there is a HUGE difference between the two games, balancing and combat adjustments are the meat an potatoes of that game. Hell, for the most part its a one area/map game. 2.0 has been about finishing what they set out to do back in 2010, now that most of that is completed and the core systems they said they would give us are in place, I think we can expect to see more of the fine tuning.

5) Also keep in mind what one person might consider a fix, would break things for other players or even the devs themselves. Personally, I wouldnt want to have to go to every post and explain myself/justify my actions. There are many subtle things in the game that we, as players, may not take into account when "providing our feedback".

PS you take "offense" a lot. I think you might need some stoneskin

I do have to agree with this, OP.

If you take a broader search and look for Dev responses on the General Discussion board only, you end up with 494 responses (admittedly, the search is a little bug and you have to move to the very last page to fully see all the results).

Considering A Realm Reborn has been out for about 18 months (540 days), that's pretty much 9posts/10days (including weekends) or close to a 1post/day.

They do communicate on a variety of game issues and events. More specific class balance issues (which is what you're probably aiming for) are harder to answer in a timely manner due to the fact balancing is a time consuming process and they don't want to put their foot in their mouth.

Right.. because singling out my opinion that this thread is childish and taking it as an insult rather than responding to anything else I said isn't childish. If you want to get insulted over every little thing people say on a discussion forum that's your problem. I'm not here to make you feel good or insult you, I'm here to express my opinion so get over it and try to respond to something besides what you consider "offensive".

I saw these numbers too. I would chose another title for the thread now that some of you enlightened me, because you changed the way I see it (again to people who don't understand what an opinion is, you can change your opinion after discussing with other people, because an opinion is not a truth :D ).
However, roughly 500 responses from devs in 18 months is fine, it's just about the DPS roles sub forum being ignored that I'm tired of.

Again, it's easier to fix bugs or correct some typos IG, but some deeper game design issues require a form of communication from SE. They know this game is too different from other Final Fantasy games, we, their fan community, deserve more love :)

This is true for most of the role sub forums. I think the tank forum has 14 responses in total and the healer forum has 8. As a healer main, I would also like to see more responses to the grand scheme of my role, but I find most responses are isolated to this particular forum because it just gets the most exposure out of everything.

Generally speaking, if you want more specific answers to your role/class, I find looking at the interviews posted on varying third party fan sites to be useful information. Take everything said with a grain of salt as there is a language barrier between the Japanese development and the English speaking community and some important points may get poorly translated on the fly.

I believe OP needs to take into consideration, as was mentioned before, a lot of posts end up on the General Discussion and get responded to in General when they have connections to issues on more specified forums as well as the fact that while they may not be saying something will never happen, it may be because they want to keep their options open.

As people have indicated, they don't want to set fires, the purpose of Dev posts are for clarification and putting out fires. Sometimes the clarifications are not what people want to hear, sure but they don't want misinformation happening. They also don't want to say something will never happen because they might come up with a way they COULD do it and address the issues presented if not in the way suggested, in a different way and they don't want people to be discouraged from expressing their opinions to have them shot down regularly by Devs.
