Midgardsormr Clarification? (Spoilers)

Actually The Echo could be seen as being similar to tempering. Ifrit stated the reason he couldn't temper us was because we had been "Chosen by another" and then alluded to it being Hydalyn that get us the Echo which is our immunity to the Tempering. But when you think about it you can only temper some one once. If Ifrit Tempered some one then Rahmu of Leviathan would be unable to temper them because you can only have one master. So perhaps the Method of which Hybadlyn grants the Echo binds us to her in a similar way that the Tempering binds mortals to a primal. Though it would be a different form in use it may still have a similar method for granting it.

This isn't quite accurate I don't think as the Ascians have implied that Zodiark has been asleep/sealed/dead ever since Hydaelyn created the world. Every calamity that brought about an umbral era was a Rejoining attempt by the Ascians, and each would seem to have been a failure (or at least not a complete success).

The name is telling though. Ramuh indicated that light and dark were once one in the same, and I believe the Ascians want to restore that state by 'rejoining' light and dark in order for the world to return to its 'true form' as described by Lahabrea. There's so much to speculate on with this though and I don't think we're going to get the answers we want for a long time yet. It will be interesting to see how the Ascian storyline evolves alongside the Dragonsong War though...

You know it does seem like he's trying to goad us into showing him our power. I mean at least in the English version it does. Due to the fact that he flat out asks us if we're just pawns or masters of our own selves. I can't take him seriously now though with the cute body and the mighty voice.... >.<

I think that a tempered soul can still be tempered again, but only by a being of higher power.

Louisoix was tempered by Bahamut even though he himself had been transformed into the primal Phoenix. That would mean that primals have the capability of not only taking over someone that has already been tempered, but they can temper each other as well. Or at least, that's what I'm guessing. Garuda was able to power herself up by draining the captured Amalja and Kobold that her people had brought to her.

In theory, no one could ever re-temper someone chosen by Hydaelyn herself because she's the highest power that exists. Maybe Zodiark could do it, but Zodiark and Hydaelyn are reflections of each other, so maybe not.

They are, but for over a year they were only there if you wanted to go for a relic weapon and hard primals basically have zero impact on the story. The only reason people need to beat the hard mode primals to access a story quest now is Square's way of shoving people into content that either new players are stuck on or had been ignored by other players.

As I recall, she was powered up by the Ixali prayers, and then had them torment the other two races into summoning their primals so that she could consume the primals themselves. Which is actually a good deal more terrifying.

In Eorzean myth (as Erik tells), time begins with Hydaelyn creating Althyk and Nymeia, then the fount of water and magic, "Silvertear" and the great dragon Midgardsormr to serve as its warden. Despite being the ancestor of the Dravanian horde, Midgardsormr is first and foremost a servant of Hydaelyn and the Twelve and defender of the realm - as evidenced by his interference in the Garlean invasion of Mor Dhona despite himself being long-dormant and Dravania being at no immediate threat. I would go so far as to suggest that Midgardsormr is in fact the very first Warrior of Light. My stance is that up until now nothing the Warrior of Light did was of their own accord. We (WoL) went from primal to primal killing one after another and doing the Scions bidding. Midgardsormr only let us live because we had Hydelyns blessing. His comment also highlights what exactly did we do with the power of the Echo and the blessings bestowed up on us.

If we remember what Iceheart said you'll realise the Scions are clueless and essentially have been dancing to the Ascians tune all along. Now with out Hydelyns protection we have to prove we are worth it.

Oh and I wish Minfilia would die. Such a useless character.

But I also believe Midgardsormr will protect the WoL in place of Hydelyn from getting tempered.
