Reason #2347 why I'm against the cash shop: Because people stop suggesting ways to improve the game and cut down on grind, and start suggesting ways to improve the game and cut down on grind for those who want to pay extra cash.

I really don't know that much, all I know is that the game was launched in China (assumably) with a Chinese Datacentre, as per Chinese regulation.
What's possible is that a publisher in china is covering it.
If you haven't realised already that this is a troll-thread and that the topic was intended to bait people into arguing, then GG.
I have a feeling you know nothing at all, and you're just trying to justify a practice you know is completely without merit to the customer and damaging to long term retention player rate.
Maybe not now but once the new relic is introduced, I hope SE allows the current novus weapon to be purchasable either through in-game gil (ala Zenith weapon) or Mogstation. Afterall, it's just for glamour at that point in time.
Absolutley not speculation, this has been in talks for a long time, and a long long requested addition. But a VERY expensive one, that could cost a company a lot of money if it were wasted. Logistics had to be taken into account first.
Yes, I was there physically in person when Yoshi-P stood on stage at Tobacco Dock in London and announced that partially due to the cash-shops and additional services, they now have the finances and budgeting to open an EU Datacentre in the future.
However he said every adamantly, "NO PAY TO WIN" at the end, so we're safe enough that it's just going to be vanity.

EU Data Centres
Based on latency-related feedback, Square Enix is in the planning stages of opening a dedicated European data centre. With content such as The Navel and The Binding Coil of Bahamut, which require fast reactions to avoid instant death, SE feels that the time has come to finally commit to true European servers. More information on this will be made available in the future.

Over time, the datacentres would have payed off for themselves with just subscriptions. But your right that anything they can make money off of they will, they are allready testing the waters with what people are willing to shell out before they start to drop off.
If you think it's just vanity, you must have a seriously faulty definition of vanity.
