Personally I think Fester should become the new energy drain for SMNs, that could eliminate their mp issue and allow them to go with optimal rotations a little easier. If BLM gets infinite mp then SMN should also get more utility in that area.

Wait, when did we not have some of the best dps when played correctly? *confused* I mean.. bad Summoners are bad Summoners. Bad tanks are bad tanks and bad healers are bad healers.

No, no class or job in this game should NEED to use expendable items as part of the regular mechanics. Intelligence potions and Poisoning potions to boost damage, sure, everyone should use them, but what you said doesn't fly. Unless all of the sudden every single DPS needs to pop TP or MP expendables, then we're on an even field.
I agree. Fester and Energy Drain should be merged.
more issue is in Frontlines. SMN doesn't have any useful instant-debuff like BLM's sleep and other jobs' stun/bind/heavy/etc. only have Bind from Tri-disaster with ridiculous long cast time. SMN cannot defend themselves against any jobs. cannot fight 1-on-1 or run away. impossible to 1-on-1 with any melee DPS.
"Blind" in this game is a joke too. people with blind status still can attack and don't miss like it supposed to be.
I'd be happier if contagion was removed from Garuda Egi and given as a SMN spell. Give Garuda tri-disaster instead. Makes sense since garuda hm and xm have 3 + forces you in a constricted area
