I would say that:

Ranked match - play for rank points only

Friendly match - players can agree to wager gil, items, cards, or nothing, if they choose.

I could see this bringing in more players if done right. Triple Triad was my first online game back in 2000. That makes me feel old. :(

I would love to see Tetra master in the game i enjoy it a lot while playing it on POL sadly they shut it down but if the game with inside the game and allow 4 players to sit down and play the game for Gil or just for fun that be awesome. You could also get cards from side quest,Mobs,NM, I think that would be a fun game to have inside the game when you just want to log in and talk and have fun,.

This would be an amazing feature.... Collecting cards could be a major part of the game.. hold simple tournaments... gil/card rewards.... exclusive gear... there is so much to do with this....

Some kind of in-game multiplayer game would definitely be cool to have in FFXIV. I'd consider it content.
