A sudden change - Immersion flies out of the window.

Last post - A new player puts up with the mundane errand boy momentum crushing quests, loves the story when it picks up, finally reaches the final battle, shares a similar experience to i do, takes it on the chin and continues playing through to the game. Do you realize how rare this scenario is? People PAY for this game, they are rarely going to pay into a game with a horrible end game community, don't let this games absolute success fool you. And in the short term, they may well just grief you right back, and get your whole team killed. ruining YOUR experience too. See how this works both ways? So guys, don't be griefers in the disguise of the majority suppressing the minority. people like me show up to ruin your day :)

I am so much in favor of immersion. When you watch a movie and someone just want to skip the boring parts for him cause he's seen it for a zillion times, you end up with mixed feelings towards the movie. Same with the game where there is Cutscenes.

So those that says: you can watch in the INN: Methinks you are missing the point.

Like join party in progress, SE should put the option in Duty Finder: Cutscenes. So if you need it, you click on it, and then you activate the Dungeon/Trial.

So those that wants to watch it for the first time will join you, and others that join you for the myth will have to wait (skipping disabled for all).

You might have to wait longer for queues ^^ Castrum o.O

Everyone wins. Not hard to do SE, easier than Hunts *cough*

@Zender: Parawill mentionned that you can edit your own post once you start one, to bypass the silly 1000 character limit.

Using your same "logic", I could argue that the majority already knows the fights and mechanics to complete the mission. Yes, you being in the party gives us 100 tomes, but we're carrying you through the whole thing so let us do it our way.

It is only new because you are treating it as new. I promise you that these argument you are making have already been made, considered, and effectively countered with advice, logic, and workarounds. This topic is in reality a duplicate topic, and a moderator would have every right to lock it as a result, if they wish.

You mean the devs? Their workaround was implementing the PF. "No Cutscene skipping" was a variable explicitly added for your specific concern.

The player who refuses to respect the wishes of the majority and does their own thing is at risk of being reported for violating the TOS, namely disrupting progression. This may be a grey area, but the majority rules. Your solution is to BECOME the majority of the party. Use PF to invite people who agree there should be no cutscene skipping. Then you are in the right... rather than the odd-one out.

Nor would I. Nor should you expect others to accept the excuse that 'because it is new to you, everyone should play the way you want to play', even though you make no effort to form the party yourself. You are in effect praying to the RNG gods that you get your way on the very first attempt. In a party of up to 7 other randomized strangers. Good luck with that.

You realize that the bonuses apply to all instanced content, yes? If (for example) I go into SCOB turn 6 and see that message, it is generous of me and every other experienced player to even allow the person to stay in that party, especially when I specify (in the PF, hint-hint), "multiple win experience only". Because that player broke the rules I set, I have every right to replace them if I wish. You have the ability to easily set the terms. Even then, some people will inevitably break rules someone sets. TL: DR-- Take this as an opportunity to grow a little, and better utilize the tools the devs graciously added with people like you in mind.

Deelo, your logic is flawed. You assume i want to be "carried" through a dungeon. well, i don't, i actually want to experience it all as a whole, because the dungeon itself, the fights, the layout, the atmosphere all adds to the story, the immersion, and.. well.. atmosphere.
Alternatively, i usually have that attitude, let them do it their way, come back later to finish the dungeon my way. I did just that with cutters cry, the enmity exploit that makes use of the healers high emnity build, and just running around in circles kind of steals away a really really fun fight. You see the boss is actually really well designed and is one of the most interesting fights i've had. How many here can say they know how that boss fights when you don't make use of the exploit? how many can state, like me, they have defeated it without?

Duuuude lol. firstly, yes i knew going in this would be a duplicate topic, but im yet to hear any of this "advice" and the work around, and using party finder, as stated is what im going to have to do, but you fail to realize, my story already got ruined because of the lack of warning. Because the majority suppress the minority. And as long as that keeps happening it will ALWAYS be revisited. You must be the one to accept it. not people revisiting the topic to have their own say, like me. As a result, i am not treating it as new really, am i.

the devs do what they can, if they make huge changes to the mechanics it has massive impacts on what the game has become, and they cant do this witlessly. so no, i dont mean the devs.

tldr context, when you look at how much i have been writing, compared to your far lesser response, don't you think the context supports my understanding of it? otherwise, fair enough.

I apologies but, what? lol A player who refuses to accept the wishes of the majority, firstly, if the majority in power is respectful, friendly, and fair, then anyone would accept it. but abusive, unfair, and unreasonable like suddenly pouncing all over a player who had their story ruined without warning? im sorry but even if that was a commandant of a god i would still rebel, that attitude results in what i referred to in the lose-lose summary.

If you used the party finder and had rules set, you obviously have a pre-made group, which is how groups should play in the first place, i have no issue with that, i have an issue with random duty finder groups ruining a players experience in any way, shape, or form. The story happens to be the topic of the moment right now.

So as far as growing a little, im afraid non of what you said made a difference, i had already spoken about it in my original responses, non of what you say applies to the lack of -warning- story goers are given when entering that dungeon. i mean, it has the most, longest cut-scenes of the entire game i have experienced so far? how was i supposed to predict that, this particular dungeon was a favorite for speed running? for skipping more than half? its the experienced Responsibility to take into consideration new players. Not the other way around! that is backwards logic and something a REDNECK would say. ultimately, I am not psychic, Nor is the population of players wishing to enjoy the game. Just because story players don't make it this far often, does not mean they do not exist. So take them into consideration when entering a random duty finder. Okay? even one in seven!. majority and minority never matters in a game, why? pixels. that's why, This is entertainment, stop being selfish, stop ruining other players experience because REASONS. Otherwise, come up with REAL reasons. not childish ones. Our mothers, hopefully, taught us to share. How about we listen to them?

Read that again. Ask yourself who is being more selfish- 7 people who want to work together and finish the content with little downtime, or the 1 who demands that they all sit tight for 40 minutes, doing absolutely nothing, while the player experiences 35+ minutes worth of cutscenes and 5 minutes worth of waiting for people coming back from being bored/afk?

Now, regardless of your answer to that question, consider what you think must be changed to fix this dilemma. Share with us. Brevity would be nice.

It's literally a chore to read your response which is both split into multiple posts, but also seemingly attempting to respond to specific text by specific people without proper quoting.

Some tips:

1. Write one post... as long as you'd like (though really I'm sure you can find a way to succinctly express your thoughts if you tried), select it all and cut it. Post something arbitrary like "....................", and then once that post is made, edit it and replace the arbitrary text with the text you cut/copied. When editing a post, you are able to completely bypass the character limit.
   
2. Use the Reply with Quote button on posts you're replying to.

As for this age old discussion, the point remains: a player needing their first clear in Castrum or Praetorium who also wants to experience it the significantly longer, more immersed way, is a rather severe minority and is therefore encouraged to make use of the Party Finder to find like-minded players and/or their FC or LS channels to ask friends to assist them in their very specific request.

if you put in the 'cutscene' button for dutyfinder like you're suggesting, enjoy your 6 hour ques without any non-newbies helping fill spots

I love how one guy even thinks i haven't stated what results i want form this! XD just go back and read, you'll see multiple times how its about respecting every type of player, including minorities. of course not including trolls. Not only that, AGAIN no one has commented on the lack of warning given to players, we aren't psychic! how are we to know the etiquette for stories is the party finder!, And sheepy's response? i suspected that.
