Tam-tara is such a hard dungeon.

Last night I "tanked" Tam Tara and the SCH did not Protect. We did fine, despite my horrendous job of tanking a dungeon for the first time. The BRD and PUG helped me keep things at bay, and the SCH was DPS'ing the whole time. My level was so low, I was the only one in the party not LVL synced. The EoS did an excellent job of not letting me die.

I keep protect as my 1st skill, cast it at the start of the dungeon then move cleric stance to my first. You'll have to wait for you CD's when you do this but Eos can handle the healing anyways.

Stupid people will say and do stupid stuff.

so basically if you go in as a SCH and just afk follow as EOS heals in a low level dungeon after you protect/stone skin you are golden. If they ask you to dps you reply, "if i wanted to dps, i'd que as a DPS". they cant kick you if the heals are going out right?

that is what I shall now do if i ever que for low level roulettes from now on

Usually it's not a problem though, a couple of times the tank has got low and I have a frantic button mashing moment, but I don't think I've wiped the party from cleric stance. At least not recently lol

Isn't Protect just 10% (maybe 20%) defense up? Armor at level 15 has like 15-20 points of defense, wow a whooping 1 or 2 more physical defense :P

I like the low level roulette most when I have Bio2 and Bane, though.. Since SCH doesn't have anyway to spend Aetherflow (otherwise) til like lv45

Personally I think Cleric Stance at that level is the greater contribution since the SCH contributes a lot of damage and has a very minimal need to cast heals, especially if micromanaging Embraces while in DPS casting animations, but I tend to leave Protect in the first slot by default because people expect it (and if they don't expect it, they should be trained to expect it for later on).

As Midori said, though, it's usually not a big deal to cast Protect and then swap it out for CS right at the beginning.

To take this a step further, the warrior ability "foresight" increases physical defense by twenty percent, which in turn translates to a 5% physical mitigation. Since sch doesn't ever get the trait to increase magical defense as well if the tank can't stay alive without it the party has a much larger problem.

Yea, I agree. It'd be different if it was 10% damage mitigation, but 10% defense increase really doesn't do much.

I guess swapping out to keep people happy is fine as long as your tank doesn't leeroy off into 30 mobs while you're on cd. If not swapping is gonna cause drama, then mayaswell do it to avoid it I suppose...

If you are healing, (whether it's you or the fairy) then you're doing your job. Nobody has the right to complain! :P Healers DPSing are just a bonus and if someone complains that you aren't doing your job, you say "my job is to heal, and you look healed to me!" So if you get kicked for not DPSing then that's harassment because you're not a DPS.

When I go as as tank I never expect my healer to DPS. If he is, cool, if not idgaf as long as you heal me bro! Whether it's you or the fairy I just wanna get my roulette bonus & be out! lol. If the DPs are doing their job, the dungeon will go by quick anyway and the extra "5 minutes saved" with healer DPS isn't that significant to be honest.

Also, when my healer looks bored, I go pick up more guys or don't bother dodging AOEs lolol ;)

Haha! I bet money he would've proceeded to call me more names anyways if I explained nicely my rationale for not having protect. In fact, he blew up in my face already when I answered "no" to his "no protect?" question where he rudely responded with "what kind of dumb shit is that?" instead of..."why?". Instinctively, that told me he thinks he's God and his beliefs are law and justice. :P
