Scarily enough, my oldest DVD (Tim Burtons Batman, double sided DVD) is roughly 20 years old. Yes it still plays.

On-topic: current gen consoles are essentially PCs anyway, so converting to the XBone should be a non-issue. If MS wants it of course (already covered in this thread).

FFXI on the 360 was an exception though rather than the rule - MS allowed it to be ported because they were trying to increase the sales of the 360 in Japan and needed a high-profile Japanese game to woo players, and because FFXI was already a PC title, it would have been relatively simple to bring it to the 360. However it didn't help the 360's flagging sales in Japan and so I guess Microsoft is just reluctant to take that risk again, even though FFXIV is considerably more successful than FFXI ever was. But I digress..

Really though, I'm quite happy to see the game on other platforms - if it raises the profile of the game and helps keep player populations steady then it's only a good thing. :)

Attempting to convince them otherwise has no side effect and if they did add support the game would be more successful, meaning more money for SE meaning better updates and more players to play with. I feel trying is definitely worth it regardless of what you feel of Microsoft and their policies, it's why people want to change them.

The current schedule seems to be going along smoothly. Plus you forget bigger audience bigger budget. The reality would be mire to faster updates and or more content. I really hope the game takes off in China as well as that would be great for the whole game.

Where do these numbers come from? To compare XIV already beat XI in terms of the user base. I think both MS and SE benefit from XIV on X1. I hope Phill Spencer will see it that way as well.

Indeed. There is exactly one MMO that has broken 5 mil in the last 10 years and that was a statistical anomaly and not an industry standard.
