Really? When the new consoles came out, I heard numerous reports that hooking up another game console to the XB1's HDMI-in wasn't viable for most games because it added a lot of lag. Did they fix that in a system update or something?

First, if I recall correctly, FFXI on XBOX 260 doesn't even use the XBOX servers and such for playing and updates, but is handle outside/around the system. This means MS have no control over updates on FFXI.
Secondly, all free-to-play games like DC online or warframe and FFXIV doesn't require it either on PS4(Think this counts for all MMOs on PS4)
One of the reasons for this is that updates would normally have to be checked by Sony's own team before they are uploaded to the system, for a MMO like FFXIV this would delay the update for some time and also quick fixes would take longer and each update would cost money. By doing this outside the system they can avoid these problems.
I would rather see DX11 w/ high res textures before we see another port to a console.
Actually we all have free Global Gym memberships provided w/ the purchase of a gaming pc. This allows us to combat the "hunchback" and "carpal tunnel" you spoke of.

This I don't know, because I heard the same thing and seeing on IGN they did it with the Wii U and Super Mario 3D World. Where they showed off the game on the TV and on the Gamepad. I think that there might be some lag, and I haven't tried it for anything but FFXIV, but I think there might be some trouble with a fighting game for example. If I end up getting another game for the PS4 I'll give that a shot as well.
When I press a button it feels instant on the TV for me with XIV, so it's possible that Microsoft did fix the lag in TV, that or the lag was a bug do to it being a new system, and their other updates have only improved the system performance.
I really wish I would have tested this with my Wii U while I still had it, but I traded that in for the PS4. :S
