I want to be able to see my own dps because I want to be able to assess my rotations and my gear when I am using them, preferably when I am on my own and not working on group content. Why shouldn't square provide a tool in game to do that?
The argument against I keep hearing seems to be "because horrible people will be horrible" or something. Or people feeling like it will somehow make their own poor dps magically more visible to others - when it won't actually make a blind bit of difference. Groups won't suddenly start asking dps what their secret number is, because people lie. Those who already kick for poor gear or poor performance will continue to kick using exactly the same criteria as they do now. Nothing will change, except people like me who want a tool for self-evaluation would have one. Stop inventing scare stories.
