Bulb, bees, and attacks for basics.

Heavy thrust debuff is easy to spot. heck bards will see it naturally
Phebo, Dsc, chaos debuff also easy to spot.

And even more basic. 80dps either means death (how can you not see it?)

And even even more obvious. Auto attack. With such a big uptime on the boss, anyone who's standing really far back is obviously not carrying their weight on top of getting kill by thorns. (auto attack is something like 30-40% of a drgs dps on that fight).

Heck with a parse of 80dps, I don't even need to parse. The bulb/bees would be a dead giveaway. Dragon Fire dive is an obvious sign of a burst incoming whenever a middle bulb popped.

I think a real problem here is not even the parsing people are...actually doing their jobs... Instead of looking at a parse and pointing fingers. How about looking at the video and seeing who did what/what not. That solves more problems then numbers on a paper.

Beating bees for the first time, didn't go "your parse sucks or not enough healing". It was watching the video of the run and going....ooooohhhh!

If anything video recording should be put into ff14, not a dps tool.

The argument against I keep hearing seems to be "because horrible people will be horrible" or something. Or people feeling like it will somehow make their own poor dps magically more visible to others - when it won't actually make a blind bit of difference. Those who already kick for poor gear or poor performance will continue to kick using exactly the same criteria as they do now. Nothing will change, except people like me who want a tool for self-evaluation would have one. Stop inventing scare stories.

This right here. Everything Elvie said is why I want this kind of tool. We can design one that meets the goals without being in a position that ultimate allows an extreme amount of abuse. I wish people could be more open minded to at least discuss the posibility. To see if we could come up with something that would work instead of knee jerk reactions because "bad people do bad things."

Let me say this once guys. I do not want a parser. Every. Single. Person. who comes to this thread to act like that is what I'm asking for is misguided and isn't reading what I'm asking for. I want to have a conversation to see if it would be at all possible to make some sort of feature that could be used without actually having a full parser. If you aren't here to discuss how that could happen and the pros and cons of a specific idea then you are going to be off topic for this conversation. There is an entire other thread that is having that debate. Go do it there.

I honestly wouldn't have any issue with something like has been suggested a few times before, some manner of 'punching bag' to work out how hard you can hit using specific actions. But this will likely satisfy noone given people want these things to use in dungeons and I'd rather keep them as far from dungeons as possible so that DPS harassment won't be as big a problem as the vote systems have become. I mean, look at the threads that pop up every other day about vote abuse. Imagine how many will crop up about this if it ever became a thing.

Not to be rude but did this really need another thread when there's already one still active that surprisingly hasn't been locked yet? As useful as a self parser would be there's still obviously room for abuse. You already know there would be PF descriptions saying "disclose self parser or kick". You also already know that if anything has the slightest potential for causing drama and casual discrimination that SE WILL NOT ADD IT. FFS they already don't allow whispers in dungeons and punish rage quitters with a 30 minute dungeon lock out. What could possibly make you think they'd allow the inevitable s***storm that parsers would cause? The only thing they've even let slip is adding ilvls and party finder and that seems more like a screw up on their part that's too late to remove because it would just cause more whining. You parser enthusiasts just need to face the facts that as long as SE sees casual players as their biggest source of income there is absolutely 0% chance of them adding official parsers or legalizing 3rd party parsers. And let's be honest, do you really want the same kind of twits that you see on WoW screaming out their parser number after every single fight as some pitiful e-peen measuring contest? Because you know it's going to happen.

What's the point of bringing it up, since SE has stately flat out it's a Don't ask, don't tell rule.

All I'm seeing is lack of maturity to simply keeping one's foot out of their foul mouth.

Does one need to officially talk to themselves looking at a parse for the world to see? That's flamboyant to an extreme.

I think their point about T8 as an example is that if you are going in there with even slightly too low DPS, you've lost before start. And it would be heartbreaking to nail all the phases perfectly, only to enrage because someone who had no knowledge of their DPS was doing 100 lower than everyone else.

so stop complaining about "elitist" parties and make your own "casual" party. good lord people you complaint about a certain group but in reality you just want to be there in the group. if not then you wouldn't complain. you probably got told your numbers were bad and you have thin skin so butt hurt and complaints everywhere. because the big boys are better than me and won't let me play with them.

ugh. grow up.

oh and if DPS really wasn't so friggen important at endgame then nobody would stat check. coil2 is a pure DPS check. if everyone can't put out numbers you cannot win. deal with it.
