You can Make FC's on a whim and leave them on a whim. Oh, for the FC all you have to do is talk to a NPC; and invite your friends.....hmmm sounds about the same amount of effort as a LS minus the 15k Fee.

The workload is a lot but it's not the quantity of the list that's stopping me from making the decision. I'm waiting to hear more input from Linkshell / FC leaders or representatives that can give a solid argument for why Linkshells should be included and credited evenly with Free Companies and can convince me away from the points I made earlier of "drawing the line."
The biggest difference being you can be a part of a Linkshell and a Linkshell, or a Free Company and a Linkshell, you cannot be a part of a Free Company and a Free Company, just like in competitions you cannot be part of two competing teams that are in the same tournament.
Not everyone will understand the reference, but let's take LCS of League of Legends.
Say there's 8 teams competing to race to the "top of the ladder" which in this case instead of progression, is a spot into playoffs the highest w/l ratio.
Doublelift, an AD player for Counter Logic Gaming, isn't also going to go play on Cloud 9 WHILE playing on Counter Logic Gaming, and then just be conveniently credited to whichever team happened to do the best while still being a part of both.
drexxin you are a heck of a nice guy i know that and are only trying to do what you feel is best for the server but using the input from maybe 10-15% of the server population (if you are only taking into consideration from the few fc leaders you mentioned) to keep tabs on the server progression as a whole doesnt seem very fair to the server as a WHOLE maybe people would be happy with it being labeled Leviathan FC progression and someone else can start one that is Leviathan server progression? Its a lot of headache i know but differentiating fc progression and server progression are two different things right? maybe?
It all depends. My personal take is just people are heavily undervaluing commitment. If one person was a player for raids on two separate servers, fine. But two groups in the same "ladder" (aka the T9 race) that have intertwining members is counter-intuitive. I don't think people will fully understand the advantages unless they've frequently taken part in competitions, but the disparity is there and makes it a greater "risk" to try to compete STRICTLY with a Free Company (unless someone can convince me otherwise.)
Maybe my opinion would be different if people were ONLY part of a Linkshell and not a free company that was ALSO attempting to down T9.
Not everyone is included on the world progression thread, ourselves included actually. I can only speak for myself in saying I rarely frequent the world thread myself.
A higher amount of traffic from people interested in specifically this server will be going to threads specifically about this server. Levi FC leaders don't go to the world thread to check out the progression of other FCs on Levi, they go to the Levi forums. People interested in transfering to Levi visit the Levi forums and click on the various FC website links on the progression list to check out the FCs.
I'm pretty confident that people don't want to transfer servers solely to be part of a Linkshell.
How does this hold any value? I'm raiding in my LS. Not in with a FC.
What is stopping the TWO people not in our FC in our LS. From joining 1 week for a clear out, then leaving after being added and going back to our LS team. Absolutely nothing.
Then vice versa for Nos and Grade.
