these are constants in ALL Final Fantasies... Jenova is only a thing in FFVII..and was the big bad to boot... Turning one games Big Bad into a coil boss, just for fan jollies, not only cheapens the lore of XIV, but the lore of the game you ripped them from.
also, FFVII is overrated. (couple this with all the whining that would follow of "Jenova doesn't look right, the music's not as good, Jenova's attacks are wrong, this fight was better in VII..." rather not want to hear it and don't tell me it wouldn't happen, they could actually force you to play an Emulator version of it within XIV, and people would still say it.)
I'm not sure what all the anger is about, it was simply an idea. If you don't like it, move along to the next thread:D
As for taking the "big bads" out of previous games, I heard that they are going to be adding the Cloud of Darkness as a boss in one of the upcoming CT expansions, so it's more than likely already a possibility.
They already did a Cameo for a Final Fantasy Game like that. It resulted in both Cloud and Aerith making an appearance in that game (Although the Aerith wasn't actually Aerith). And the player got control of Cloud for the entire rest of that game... I do not want a Cloud Companion to be present in FFXIV.....................
And for those nay sayers who are claiming that Final Fantasy 7 Characters can't travel to Eorzea because they don't have the ability to travel to other dimensions. There is actually precedent. Cloud traveled to the world of Ivalice via the Lifestream when he ended up in the Lifestream during Final Fantasy VII. Interestingly enough, Ivalice does not have a Lifestream to the best of my knowledge. It does however sport Materia, which was their Justification for it.
Final Fantasy VII and Final Fantasy XIV both share the phenomena known as the Lifestream. As such travel between the two worlds via the Lifestream should be more than possible. In fact it is even possible that Eorzea is an older version of Final Fantasy VII's world. Afterall Costa Del Sol exists in both games....
look there is a difference between "good" fanservice and "bad" fanservice
"Good" Fanservice: Oblique references, side characters thrown in that give you a chuckle when you notice them, maybe even a few of the MID-bosses NAMES being used, one time events that come and go once maybe twice like the XI and XIII event...
"Bad" Fanservice: Direct shoehorning of characters from previous tittles into the Main Story just because they were popular... along time ago, adding The Big Bad from other games just to scream "HEY! REMEMBER THIS? WASN'T THIS COOL! LOVE MEEEE! LOOOOOVE MEEEE!"
Basically, it's kinda like repeating a joke, Clever people can take the joke tweak it a bit and make it their own, the other is just standing around repeating lines from Popular movies until everyone want's to punch you.
