Titan-egi and Tanks?

Ifrit is better if dealing with trash that dies in seconds keep on obey and use skills as needed.
In fights where DOTs will last, use garuda.
Titan egi is only good for soloing, running SMN tank dungeons for fun, and for primals where you want to go 1 heal 7 dps.

I disagree completely with everyone in this thread. Titan-egi only steals hate if your tank isn't able to tank properly. Not only that, but Topaz/Titan are the only ones with an AoE ability at lower levels.

It seems a lot of tanks think that they're fighting Titan for aggro, but this simple truth is they aren't able to maintain it. If Titan steals aggro from you, it's because you're not doing a good job. But if you keep doing your job, and somehow Titan dies even though you're casting Sustain + Eye for an Eye, then hate will fall back to you, the tank.

It isn't as big of a deal as people want to make it out to be.

Titan is really good against singletarget. I have soloed many times A rank hunts and still get full 20 allied seals with titan. Any dps class have like never taken aggro from my titan if i put rouse + spur + endkindle at the begin. Against aoe titan egi can not keep much aggro.

Titan Egi isn't a menace for any tank past Shield Oath. Even before that, his aggro generation is still too low to steal your main target, so just attack the one the egi targets, and flash to counter the aoe ability, nothing really difficult. It's still a stupid DPS loss, but I generally let it go if the summoner doesn't want to listen, he's just no threat to the party.

A SMN should always have Garuda-egi out. As Garuda has Contagion which increases the duration of the SMN debuffs. If a SMN has any other pet out they have not read what their abilities do.

Ifrit: Only has value against trash mobs that typically die before you would gain any benefits from Contagion. Situations like this are rare; it pretty much requires that the trash mobs be very weak (WP, AK, CM, Prae) and that your party be very strong. Ifrit's DPS is technically higher than Garuda, but your DoTs are top priority.

Titan: Very, very rarely has a place in a dungeon; generally only at low levels if your tank and/or healer is struggling. Due to having no snap-hate ability (aka, Provoke), using him to take over when a tank dies on a boss is a risky prospect, though it CAN work if your group can kite the boss long enough, and if your healer is smart enough to monitor him and help keep him alive. Even then, the tank should resume duties as soon as able.

Garuda: In all other cases, which is nearly all cases period, use Garuda.

As for Titan out-tanking real tanks, generally this will only happen if Titan has a head start on the mob, and THAT will only happen if fighting a group of mobs. Titan can easily overcome the hate generation from Flash or Overpower (aoe hate) spam, but there's no way he can keep up against Rage of Halone or Butcher's Block combo (focused hate) spam.

I've used Titan in runs for various things, usually it's low levels and new tanks I've seen don't use aoe's enough or do things like use the last combo move they have but never the first thinking it always activates. I also use Titan Egi when going into new dungeons when they're released, out of all of them the one I remember it being most useful is Siren, the first boss throwing titan on a wolf and me using bio on another to get it off the healer, we won first run through. Even now I use it if I don't feel comfortable with the party and we go through just fine, other times if I see the gear is up I'll throw out garuda in the fight. When I say I don't feel comfortable, I don't mean I look at their gear and suddenly decide..if they are having hate issues with trash mobs along the way, a boss with multiple adds is going to be even worse, and I adjust to that situation so we can live.

I use Ifrit for trash mobs along the way, and switch to Garuda for bosses. Sure titan is situational but it's going to happen, that's the way our job is we adjust to the situation. I've had to throw out Titan / toss Eye on someone and throw out a few cures while DoT'ing (not at full dps of course give up a bit just to help survive) just to help keep someone alive who might be struggling. Titan isn't the go-to but he has a place, though the % maybe low in his use in dungeons.

I actually like using Ifrit on Brayflox hard for his AoE Enkindle. If you use it on the first pull, it's back up in time for the last pull as well if you do the full dungeon. I switch to Garuda for the bosses, though, so I can use Contagion.

Wait, arnt all blaming "bad summoners" for bringing out titan egi?
Why change the subject to "bad tanks"?
I guess not watching whats happening around him and just watching group aggro and taking all which isnt red, those are BAD tanks!

Titan-Egi saves summoner's lives in certain fates. Get mad I'm using it, but if I wasn't, I'd take the aggro off of you easily anyway, without a pet. And if I take aggro, I go down quick on some higher tier fates. Being that our physics are gimped compared to a 30 mnd sch, we can't really fully cure without generating even more hate, so basically, if we have to cure ourselves, you'll never get hate off of the smn alone anyway with all those dots, ruins, and festers.

I'm sorry, I but I choose not to rely on others to keep myself safe in world content. Titan-egi is more easily let go to die than you or I. Am I right, or am I right?
