the problem with a lot of mmos IS that this is happening to most of them. And thats the killer for so many content and zones. Why copy that stupid mistake lotsa mmos get? Content that needs months to get live then is outdated after a few days will never be enough to fill even the needs of a casual mmoer...
They might "love" it but they will be the first to bitch that there isnt enough content and they got everything so fast, so easy... caps in ffxi were the reason why it was successeful for such a long time, so many things offered challenges due to caps, take them away and you need 20 times the content since it every bit of content gets "one-shotted".
99% of all mmos are easy mode... cant we get some challenge? and more important KEEP the challenge...

Again we are, when you'll go parading yourself with that "leet" dungeon gears pretending you actually worked for it that is when we will be affected by it. If there was a cap, then we would know that you deserve that gear, since there isn't and we know you steamrolled through it, then it's just stupid and pointless.
Everyone in this thread is arguing over capping/uncapping players. Obviously there are pros and cons to either way they go with implementing or not implementing a system like that.
So INSTEAD of altering the player's level based on the dungeon, why not just alter the dungeon's level based on the players?
They already change the difficulty in game of behests based on the number of players signed up. Why not expand on a system like that?
Just lock players on whatever jobs they enter with. If you wanna roll with a party of 4 50s, go for it. The dungeon's difficulty will be scaled accordingly. Everyone wins?
That would keep the difficulty level challenging no matter who decides to enter at whatever level. It would end up being like they posted:
Rank 30 dungeon will be for Light parties, Rank 50 dungeon for full parties. The MINIMUM levels will be enforced and whatever levels ABOVE the minimum will only serve to increase the difficulty of that dungeon.

why the hell would a 50 prance around in 30 gear anyway? that is your first mistake, they should be using 50 gear, and there is nothing "leet" about wearing underleveled dungeon gear
so these 50s steamrolling it will be getting outdated gear, oh woop de doo, that breaks the game so bad and ruins it for others
the game will be overrun with people in underleveled gear now!
It's like saying "if you want challenge don't use gambits/auto-attack in XII/XIII".
I guess it's valid thing to say, but doesn't change the fact that people are going to do it the easiest way if they can and then bitch about the game playing itself. That's how it is- and you can't affect that without limiting them.
Well said, and I really thought that the FFXIV community was more mature than most MMOs and would be like the golden age of FFXI when things were hard and challenging. But the more it goes the more I feel it's all a new crew of gamer that wants all handed to them easily, which SE seems to think will be their saviors. Guess I was wrong.
lol you still don't get it, the level 50 will not prance in level 30 gears, who cares about that. The level 30 will tho, but they won't have any merits for it because they will all have gone through their low level content eating a doughnut standing back while their level 50 friends help them get the loot. Yay what a fun game this is!
Even if they actually went in with 4 level 30, they will not have this feeling of satisfaction and accomplishment wearing that gear, because others will have gone through them with level 50 help.

there will always be people who want things easier
there will be those who want things harder
instead of FORCING players to do things a certain way, why not let them choose easy or hard, if they wanna go in with more then is needed to completet something, LET THEM.
if they wanna make it a challenge and restrict themsleves, LET THEM
dont force others to play the way you want, THAT is the problem here, people who think that everyone should do everything how they want and should have no freedom to choose
