We're going to make the game a bit more tolerable for melee DPS

I think it's more the fact that on the final nail phase the ranged can just stack in the middle and dps all the nails down from there.

This means no messing about with healers running around swapping places and trying not to howl the party to death (they can just stand at 3 and 9 positions for the entire duration), easier tank swaps because everyone is already in range of each other, and easier healing.

I'd say the only content that is really stupid for Melee would be Ifrit Extreme.
If a ranged is leashed to a tank it's no big deal, a melee on the other hand he's litteraly a sitting duck.
It's not really difficult per se but just a little bit annoying.

Here, and in the other games I play, it's simply harder to be a good melee DD, that it is to be a good ranged DD.

Ranged DD in ARR, and SWTOR, both get the "Target... shoot... score!" mechanic, which means once you pick your target it doesn't matter if the target moves. Unless they go out of LOS you still hit them. With melee DD, if the target has the extreme bad manners to move out of melee range, then you have to follow them to keep laying the smack down. In the meantime the ranged DD turns another page in their PEOPLE of EORZEA magazine, answers a Linkshell message, and casually lobs another attack.

You can make that easier by turning on Auto-Attack Lock so when you move (or when they move) you just run circles around the target - but then when you need to get the heck out of Dodge, remembering to toggle out of target lock before you try to Run Away, usually delays you enough, you don't make it.

No you don't get more dps out of a melee class. Summoners are still up there, followed by these crazy black mages and sometimes these shiny bards. Can put a monk between black mages and bards but you ll never outdps competent and adequatly geared ranged.

That said there's close to zero difficulty on garuda ex as a dragoon if you use the triangle tact or the one where MT take Garuda + Suparna, OT Chirada + Spiny and MT just exchange Suparna for the spiny of the OT.

You don't even have to move more than what is needed to go on Suparna after Chirada is down before tornadoes, and then you just slack South West while waitin for Suparna after Chirada is killed when tornadoes are on.

Hard time for a melee, for sure ;)


And actually, Titan HM / EX is a joy for a melee. A joy, literally. Sure they are downtime here and there but at least you have to do things, unlike these fights in CT.

Same for Caduceus / Attack nodes + ADS and to some extent Twintania :p

I like all of coil. Only issue I see is t2 because the adding melee makes that fight much harder. One is fine, two is going to make it tricky and three or more... good luck with that nightmare.

Everyone thinks I am crazy because I love titan HM/EX. What I don't love is that everyone else screws up so much that I can never win EX. I have a bit of fun trying to keep GL by smacking a bomb that is about to blow up while dodging landslides. I also enjoy getting the timing down so that when I run from plumes I never have to leave melee range.

Garuda I feel bad for the rest of my group because they either have to use a special strat just because of me or they deal with my very low dps. Alternate solution we found was for me to OT while our OT goes ranged. Fight is much easier like that. Ifrit is not hard but it is very annoying fight... and if tanks/heals are not watching what they are doing (which they never seem to be) then yeah I get dead.

Nope, you're not good at it if you don't know how to deal with this situation.

I've never had a single problem in Garuda EX and Ifrit EX. That is if you and your partymates got brain to actually understand what's happening and not just whack your way around.

It's true that Range classes are easier in some case, but that doesn't mean that this is something that SE should be alarmed about.

Either I missunderstood you, if thats the case I am sorry but it takes a really incompetent melee if he gets outdpsed by ranged in those or any fights this content has to offer so far if gear is not the issue.
I don't know much about Dragoons at last for Monk I'd have to play really terrible to not come out on top though.

Actually.... Why not just stoneskin the melee DPS?
