Saints Row 4 did it, and it came out well (and all they did was limit the control scheme and add a filter to make the characters look like 16-bit sprites). I'm sure it can be done for ARR.

I was thinking once you zone into the dungeon your battles would look something like this!

It wouldn't have to be that detailed, If I am on my White Mage, I'd look like the little sprite at the bottom. :)

Would love if they did something like this in FF14, really hope they do something like this, don't know if it'll be good enough but it's always worth a shot and I'm sure SE would know what to do.

Persona 4 did this in one of the dungeons in the game, it was by far the funnest dungeons in the game. If Square-Enix did this it would be a huge fan serves and would be so freaking awesome!!!!

Terrible - if I wanted to play that kind of game I'd go play it.

This would be AMAZING! A lot of people would be on board for this. Great idea!
