To put it another way, if FFXI and FFXIV were cars, FFXI is a car that runs great and only needs to be washed every now and then, perhaps replacing an air filter or wiper blades in the process. It's easy to give frequent feedback on general maintenance and detailing. FFXIV, well that's more like a car that is having it's engine rebuilt. It takes a lot longer to accomplish that task, and the wiper blades that everyone is requesting, well they'll just have to consider that when the thing actually runs properly.

They can't update much until the battle system is implemented, then, will we get more frequent updates.

They're not going to post every detail regardless. No MMO developer does, not even in the MUD days. The only "plans" that get posted are plans for the next patch which depending on the MMO, is usually a 3 week - 7 month timeframe -- which Yoshida has been doing (posting plans.)

is there any developer besides this one out that has one of its major games crashing and burning? they are not trying to spray water on the burning vehicle they are throwing gas on the fire.

edit: the point is this game is not like every other mmo out there in the aspect that it is having to be completely redone. the people playing hoping that the game gets better would like to see the basic direction of the games future.

"The next version update for FINAL FANTASY XI is currently on track for a mid-July release!"

Would an update on lodestone similarly saying: The next version update for FINAL FANTASY XIV is currently on track for a mid-June release!" be so hard?

Considering they are redoing aspects of the games foundation they already gave a tentative date...in the letters. which was mid-june at the earliest.

XI can give an exact time frame because they aren't redoing the games foundation when they release updates, they're merely adjusting and adding things.

I meant specifically regarding Tanaka, but I still don't think the "one team" statement is accurate.

I agree with OP. That post about FFXI's roadmap is just awesome.

The tone of some of these emails seems to give credit to the FFXI team for a good job on keeping current, but when it comes the the FFXIV team, they blame SE as a whole.

If FFXIV's problems are a to be laid at the foot of SE as a company, than so are the successes of FFXI.

If FFXI's successes are the result of a good production team... well..

not fair we only have a handful of moogles :O wdffff

I for one would like to believe that SE forced the release of FFXIV, and not the FFXIV team. The FFXIV must have known it wasn't ready and were forced to ship it anyway.
