First article about the House pricing.

Every thread I've ran into about housing cost has had a Whiteknight stating we want the housing day 1 and for ourselves alone. This is not the case at all. I understand this is FC housing very clearly and I also understand it should be something we work towards but at the prices on my server it's not even an obtainable goal for my FC in the near or even year out timeframe. Were small and like it that way. We would have liked at least the smallest plot of land to build our FC house on.

Amen ^^ It would take my small, family FC 5 years to afford the smallest house at the lowest possible price. Yeah, that's really sounding like something I want to 'work' for and anticipate.

I think most people would have been happy with a small house being semi-easily obtainable for all sorts of players (note this does not mean without any work), and then the time needed to get certain pieces of furniture or customizable bits being long as housing itself tends to be a very casual centered feature.

The problem is it's a lot harder to disagree with that viewpoint, so strawmans keep getting throw up placing anyone that disagrees with the pricing on the absolute farthest part of the spectrum (handouts).

Exactly, and this "with a small house being semi-easily obtainable for all sorts of players" is what you call entry level, and what should always be there with this kind of big, highly advertised feature.

Yup! Personally I would have liked to see them do away with the sizing as is. My "perfect" view of an FC house would be every FC getting the same size house/plot once reaching a designated rank. Then Gil going towards exterior and interior "upgrades" such as hardwood flooring, different roof options, more rooms, land expansions.. and furniture of course being crafted/dropped (maybe some mob drops some plushies, I dunno), some of which being extremely rare or time consuming to get.

The "effort" part is getting the FC ranked up. That still has to be worked towards. Yeah, it technically would probably "handout" a house to FCs that have been here since the beginning and all that jazz, however I would prefer to think of it as those companies have been working towards that the whole time. I don't ever see people complain about the guild buffs being handouts.

Also keep in mind that even expecting to be able to get a FC house at launch isn't exactly expecting it to be "handed" to us, or expecting it to be something totally easy. This upcoming housing hasn't exactly been kept under wraps - people have been looking forward to it and saving up for months, in some cases even for *years*, going off by what others are saying. So after all that, well yes, it is pretty reasonable to expect to be able to put all that gil toward the house that, y'know, they were already working toward for a long time.

Not to mention that it would be... well, not hugely better with these prices, but at least somewhat better with a) more size tiers (including smaller, accessible ones) and b) the ability to sell back the land for what you paid for it. That way, FCs could buy the cheaper ones that that particular FC could afford, so they have *something*, and could gradually work up toward the larger ones, selling previous land as they reached the next goal.

Abriael is correct the majority of my FC has anywhere between 50k-1m and that's about it. I'd donated several hundred thousand towards housing and am now completely unmotivated to continue.

Most of my FC who are casual have about 500k to their name, and they wont give a single penny to FC.

The ones who have money probably only 4-5 mil, how much will they give to FC? Non, because its fucking stupid.

My tiny FC of 5 people were going off of the whole "3x amount 1-50 quest reward" price
We kinda had a hunch it was going to be more than that so we saved a lot more
We are now millions short of getting a small plot in an alleyway by a dumpster.

Someday we hope to save up enough so we can buy a small plot and sleep on the vomit and garbage covered concrete until we have enough to buy a cardboard box.
