Give another job a silence move!

PLD is already doing plenty more than a BRD to have to silence as well. Both are the same other than one being melee and the other not. 30 second CD and off the GCD. MNK is every 6 seconds at the minimum, melee, high TP cost, on the GCD and a severe cost of damage.

This is one of those situations where if you have a MNK doing silences, you would've been better off just switching out to BRD.

For turn 1 monk silence is easy. For turn 2 you are likely better off replacing the monk with a bard. Our silence is very hard to use on him. Very high risk for that one and the reward is a silencer that sin't doing much damage.

The problem is that out of 9 classes only two have good silences, one is a kind of good one and thats it. Wouldn't be that big of an issue if it wasn't for the fact ADS is nearly impossible without a silence. Yes you can use potions but that is bad design if the only way you can clear content is with a crafted item. This is also going to get worse next patch with Warriors being a much better tank.

They could always let us stun anything that needs silence and all would be good. Stuns are not as good as silence but they get the job done.

Wrong I've done it in T2 a lot. The reason its probably more reliable than PLD/BRD because you can fit it into a rotation and have it go off as the nodes/ADS use HV. Yes you may lose DPS but its better than PLD/BRD being to late. I don't have to do it anymore though.

This is why I'm glad BRD is getting nerfed. So people will get over this whole switch out MNK for BRD.

No you make rotation out of it so every other set you use AotD. And how can you say turn 1 is easy but turn 2 your better off with BRD its pretty much the same fight.

You know when the silence is coming, its not hard, its not high risk.

The whole notion bosses can even be silenced is very amateurish because unless everyone has silence, it guaranteeds you'll run into the situation people describe here. Of course if ADS didn't have High Voltage, the encounter would be completely trivial, so I guess they had to make something out of it.

There is aoe to avoid... there is tanks not to stand in front of... there is rot to not pass... and on top of all that t2 is not on a set rotation the way t1. T1 always uses it as soon as repelling cannons is over, t2 does not.

EDIT: Btw pld and bard can pretty much ignore all that stuff and silence at the same time. Mnk can't.

How about we give Warriors a silence so they have more to do in T2? Brilliant.

Not to mention the stance requirements and how it essentially cripples the MNK's dps to do it. Having a MNK interrupt in T2 is a bad idea all around, for sure.

To add to the conversation: I am a huge fan of "bring the player, not the class". I do not like telling someone they can't come to my raid just because we happen to need one particular class to handle a certain mechanic. It's not fair to the players, and it's stifling fight design. If you could switch classes out of combat (similar to how you can switch souls out of combat in Rift), then perhaps I'd feel differently, but you can't, so I don't.

Probably been said, but what they should do - Make this a FF game, allow mages to debuff with a silence spell. Just so simple.
