Predictions for job(s) in the next expansion?

They are basically the "Job" Crystals for the 14 Covenant members. For everytime a member is replaced that member is given the Soul Crystal to continue that specific seats role which also comes with the memories and knowledge the previous members of that specific seat had.

We can basically consider them as proto Job crystals.

the 14th seat is unique because the 14th is newly added and remained empty since the 12 other members of the 13 members (well except Emet) saw the 14th as a traitor for many reason with among those reasons is going against traditions. Since Azem was the only one who ever became the 14th member, it means his/her memories and knowledge is the only thing preserved in the 14th Soul Crystal.

However, as I said we don't know much about what the meaning behind obtaining the 14th Soul Crystal so all it can be is just a ex machina plot item for a future MSQ storyline rather than a actual Job Crystal about using the 14th's powers for all we know.

It wasn't but the Soulstones as a concept were tied into jobs, being their psychical identifier and needed to be equipped to use a job (compared to the average class that needs only the weapon or tool). Rarely were Soulstones shown in a context that didn't involve jobs in some form. think of it as a Square and a Rectangle scenario

Though this has reminded me that if Azem's Soulstone were to be use for a Job it'd like be in a similar case to the HW jobs (MSQ gated), but that aside I hope its storyline would be like the DRK, an in-depth look into the WoL/D's character.

Also yes, each of the Convocation oversaw a specific aspect. Part of which can be seen in Akademia Ayndyr where we walked though(IIRC) Halmarut, Mitron's and Lahabrea's likely domains. however they are more like RL jobs then FF jobs IMO.

I am honestly hoping and also expect the 5.4 to 5.55 MSQ to focus partly about how our character maybe having dreams and visions of Azem's life. If the Soul Crystal does become a new Job, it will certainly be a ideal way to tease or give us a Demo of that new Job in a story instance and have our character awaken a fragment of Azem's original powers in a story instance battle just to have a taste to what kind of powers Azem once had and what we may expect if Azem's Soul Crystal leads into a new Job.

Thing is, would Azem even have a singular job? We're effectively Azem as they were: a traveling hero who learns from everybody they happen to meet. I think it far more likely that Azem's crystal may play the role of unlocking new abilities for the current roster by giving us ancient insight into whatever may have existed Pre-Sundering.

Well weren’t all of the Convocation stones the same shape? All others we have seen that “mean” anything for us playerbase wise for classes have all been distinctively different.

Since they weren’t stated as job stones but more of a name badge I don’t think we’re gonna get a “convocation class”. Especially if we are the hinted Azem. We gonna equip our Self soul crystal and play as ourself?

Probably a start to getting our memories from another time, but anything else seems a bit much for just a run of the mill mmo class for FF14.

At the least: memories. At the most: used in the conclusion of Zodiark in some way because Azem was so opposed to the summoning of both primals.

We don't really know much about Soul Crystals anyways. All we know is that each Job organization makes their Soul Crystal unique shape and have the Symbol of their Job be the key identification for what information the Soul Crystal holds. Any user after can either take that information into themselves to instant learn skills if conditions are met or add into the Job Crystal's information for future generations. To this day I am still curious why and how are Job stones made.

For all we know the shape of the Job Crystals can mean nothing and the only reason they make each Job crystal different shape just because it makes it easier to tell the difference between different Job crystals.

For a Society where the Ascians come from, they had a social standard for making everyone equal in even appearances so it will be hardly any surprise if the only reason they made the Ascian Convocation stone similar to each other in shape is just because they can.

The only real difference we know about the Convocation stones is the symbols which represented the 14 member's role in their society.

Little is know other wise so we won't know much about what FF14 Developers have planned until 5.4 and beyond MSQ are released.

It also worth noting that only Azem's use astrological sigils, The rest use images of the constellations themselves (though some are deformed), this also means that Azem's is closer to the existing Job soulstones as they also use stylized symbols based on an aspect be it armaments, armor or abilities.

Eh, but all of them feature stars, which to me felt like the key takeaway. Although astrological signs are collections of stars showing the constellations helps draw attention to the star theme, as well as avoiding connection to the Ivalice auracite, which have zodiac symbols on them.

That and there isn’t really a job that ties into it barring I suppose just drawing on the idea of a Freelancer in general. They wouldn’t make the job a straight fighter or mage, which leaves only some odd limited job which could transcend roles.

This. If this Omni/freelance was put in. You’d get limited. Look at blu, can choose what role.

Putting in a class that could wear multiple gearsets and roles, that’s a balance nightmare.

I'm aware (and had edited the post to clarify, on that note I think you meant to type astronomical, as the astrological zodiac symbols are what's on the auracite). I was just starting an observation

And yeah I figured it would be a Limited Job unless Azem was revealed to have a very specific kit.
