Totally agree, I'm a very hairy man and there is literally no hair anywhere on my character other than her head. We need leg, arm, armpit, back and most inportantly butt hair. Because it's completely unjust and I feel [/b]offended[/b] continue.

I mentioned this early on in this thread, but I personally get a bit bummed if I have no option to play as a female character in games. That's normally as far as I'll go in regards to a personal representation of myself, but I can appreciate that others may want to put more of themselves into a character. Especially in an MMO. We spend so much time with the character, it may help feel more connected and invested. I've tried many games where I was unable to make a character to my liking, and my interest in playing plummeted. Bit shallow/strange perhaps, but we all have our ways ;)
Western media is consumed on a global scale. 1 in 5 people in the US are non-white. Up to half the population of major cities like London and New York are non-white, and in some cases white is no longer even the majority. Multi-culturalism is growing rapidly. "But there's more white people" is an incredibly old and weak excuse used to cover the heavy bias towards white people that still exists, despite there being no shortage of other races in the industry or in the audience.
No, it's not a case of apathy "because everything is racist/ sexist" lol. It's because while people are fine saying that slurs and harassment are wrong, they don't like having it pointed out to them that they have benefited from a system that excludes or discriminates against other ethnicities and become incredibly defensive. This thread is a perfect example.
So says the only other person with an even bigger chip on their shoulder.
Taoism, from the glamour. Angels and devils, Christianity.
I used the shown nationalities as an example that Hyurs are very much humans, since one of the main arguments against OP's customisation request is that they're not and that "IRL has no place in FF" when it's already rampant. We have European and Asian Hyur options available, so why not black or other races? There's just no adequate reason not to.Quote:

Most games have a set protagonist because that's the story they want to tell. Even MMOs are trying to tell a specific story and you're just along for the ride. I could see getting a little (emphasis on "a little") disappointed if a game promised character customization and then only offered one skin color or gender to work with, but most game that offer this do have those options.
Whenever a game has a character creator I try to re-create myself for the main play through, if the game allows for alts or multiple accounts then I get crazy with the options.
I think my own personal enjoyment of making a character represent myself visually is related to so many of the in-game choices representing me mentally.
When you come across limiting customization options in various games yet consistent in the fact that they are all limiting in the same way, it can sometimes cause an emotional reaction.
Mmm. Using glamours as a way of saying this game is representing religions is reaching. The Angelic Attire/Demonic Attire are hardly representative of Christianity as a whole. “Devils” are merely personifications of evil, which has representation in every culture and religion, not just Christianity. The only way that argument wins is if you are explicitly referring to Satan, who is the only “devil” in Christianity. At least, as denoted by the Bible.
They do if they want to do well in this day and age, and want to expand and keep their customer base. It is in their interests to do so. What do you think would have happened if FFXIV had kept Eternal Bonding opposite-sex only? Why do you think they gave in to the bunny suit gender lock backlash?
You truly think people don't look to make approximations of themselves? That's all I've ever known people do with human races.
Maybe because... that's the topic at hand?
No, I just don't waste my time with people who don't have the slightest interest in any sort of genuine exchange and are clearly out to pick a fight with me. The grudge you hold would make any discussion pointless.
No, it isn't. People have been arguing against the inclusion of IRL in FF, and they're directly named or referenced IRL religions with no background or lore explanation inserted into the game. The whole concept of heaven and hell, black vs white, halos and so on, is an entirely IRL (Christian) concept that has no place in the game.
