I would love to watch that.

is anyone really shocked that SE is failing YET AGAIN, if you are then your weren't paying attention!
I got excited, I was placed in queue and only 20th in line. I click back to say "hey I got in queue" then the 1017 error popped up over the queue box and kicked me from the queue. Bravo Square Enix, Bravo.
Spammed for 2hrs and finally got in on Cactuar..
Can you really blame the afk's? They paid for a product as we all did. Why turn on them when the real problem is SE has KNOWN of this 1017 and has yet to raise the server cap.
Everyone wants to play and the 1017 shit pisses everyone off.
In XI there was no afk timer at all course JP had it for a year before it was released to NA, which gave SE plenty of time to work out shit. Plus for CE when you register for game they give you 30 days free (at least it did for me) before needing to make a payment for your sub.
I wonder...
Very few mmo launches happen without a mess @ the beginning... I'm not advocating for it being acceptable but come on everyone... what else did you expect.
I SEE A QUEUE!!!!
It is "amusing" when it tells you you're in a queue (you know, a queue where you're in line, eh?) and then a few minutes later it bumps you out as "world full". That seems to imply there was no real queue unless some deviant is twiddling the world max pop knob for funsies or something.
Net effect = perception by player there really isn't a queue if he/she is #7 and then a few minutes later "world full go away".
Got stuck outside the door as well. But every popular mmo's early stages are like that...
HAS SE SAID ANYTHING ABOUT HIS CRAP!!!!
It is sad that they are literally allowing ourselves to waste our lives by sitting here trying to get in this game. Why cant they just fix it, add a freakin queue really quick. Worst MMO launch ever.
I didn't expect to see that they put a CAP on the servers, and wont let people log into a game that was paid for hahahaa! I've been trying for 3 days now, and STILL can't get in with my friends/FC on Hyperion server... They should SHUT DOWN the servers for a RESTART, and all the people that are AFK will be kicked! That players that are playing, will log back in. Yes, there will be a lot of people trying to get back into the game, but still.. Kick the AFK'ers, and give a chance to the others.. restart the servers every so often.. w/e
worst mmo launch ever is a hugggge understatement
I would love a queue system for this that actually worked, not one that has a tiny chance of popping up. There shouldn't be a stupid error about my world being full, there should only be a queue. I don't care if I have to wait 45+ minutes in a queue, I don't want to spend hours getting an error after a certain time. Mornings getting in there is no wait time, around 3-4pm EST the bloody error pops its ugly head up.
this launch isn't by far the worst mmo launch
Japanese culture is all about respect and honour, or atleast that's what I heard.
Yet some how I get the feeling that it only counts when your japanese, the rest of the world can just disapear and they wouldn't even so much as blink....
Can But a REAL QUEUE and Kick AFK player............................... many of them are AFK
So this thread has reached 1500+ replies, many of them from different individuals. Even if a third of the posts are from someone that have posted earlier, that leaves at least 1000 players that are disappointed, feel cheated, angry, and completely justified in their feelings. Hopefully this will help somewhat.
I know that SE is currently looking for a solution as they have posted that they are going to be expanding their facilities to handle this situation, but that could take as long as a week or longer for the equipment to be delivered, installed, configured, and then made available to players. Also, they have instituted a method to freely transfer characters from server to server so that when these servers are brought online that players can opt to move to them, thus relieving the load on the current servers.
As for the lack of an AFK kick function in the game, I think that as players we can petition for that to be added into the game. Via the proper channels.
As far as compensation for the time lost by literally thousands of players affected, I would suggest calling for a fair compromise. It's been suggested that players should receive a day for a day exchange for all players until this problem is resolved. Another thing that can be suggested are apology items. Many online games often award bonuses or special items in the event of service interruption on such large scales. This can also be an option.
The lack of any moderator or developer input into this forum thread is disheartening, considering how quickly players have been posting, and the length of the thread. However, I can only theorize that they haven't done so thus far in an effort to avoid much of the blame being pushed onto individuals despite any good intentions many may have. They run the risk of effectively becoming scapegoats in the middle of a very angry mob. I have no doubt that they are reading this forum and that SE understands that they have a considerable amount of work to do in a short time or they run the risk of losing customers.
We can as players do our part as well. Discourage the AFK-ers at each opportunity, as they are taking up room on the servers that many others could be using to play. I know no one can really stop it, but as a gaming community we can let our disapproval be known. Inform others that if they are receiving the 90000 error to do what they can to make another character in a server simply to force a log out of the stuck character. Also, we can use this time to submit petitions to the developers as I've stated before. While I'm sure they know we aren't happy with the current conditions, many players have great insight into problems that online games have and can offer solutions based on that. Many have alpha, beta, and stress tested games and have learned what works and what does not. For those that cannot offer that insight, don't think your voice is any less valuable. Petition about solutions you see here in the forum that you'd be willing to accept. This way the Devs at SE know that they have support from their customers to act if they choose to go with solutions we've suggested, and that they shouldn't go with solutions that would further anger us. Regardless though, they do have to find and choose effective solutions.
Finally, and I know that this is quite a bit to read(Sorry about that), but let's try not to let the technical failings of the game's capacity ruin a very beautiful and fun game for us. This is an amazing MMO with great concepts and a deep story that you can immerse yourself in. The world is beautiful and incredibly detailed, and you can really feel as if you're talking to the key NPC's in the game. I for one want to be patient and supportive, because I want to see this game stay LIVE and to really have fun playing it for years to come, just like every other Final Fantasy game I own. I hope that everyone here can help make that happen, not just for me, but for yourselves as well.
Thank you to those that read through everything. I appreciate it.
I am so sick of hearing this excuse....
What did I expect:
1. Really long queue times
2. Possible emergency hot fixes
3. TO SEE THE GAME ON RELEASE
4. Customer support, not the proverbial "Sorry No Ones Home"
5. Oh and lets not forget...not to get carpal tunnel syndrome from trying to log in to a game.
I mean I understand there are going to be issues but some of us have spent days trying to log in others have gotten in and have either been booted or logged out. This is not what a game company should be expected to produce. I would love to one day be part of a company that produces games but at this moment if SE asked me to work for them I would not accept it. Why? I don't want to be associated with this type of thoughtlessness.
I expect more... a HIGHER standard if you will. This is a re-release and you would have thought... hey other MMOs had these problems (design, software, or hardware problems) maybe we should fix those instead of repeating them?
It should have been obvious from the Early Access weekend that there were problems with the servers. So either push back actual release date OR be 100% transparent with what exactly the issue is and how you're going to fix it. IN FULL DETAIL.
Explain where you think the problem is coming from, explain (IN DETAIL) why you're taking the actions you are taking, explain how (and when) things might get better and if it's going to affect a lot of players then ALSO EXPLAIN how you're going to compensate them for their "understanding and continued support".
Here's the BIGGEST ISSUE, I know that there are folks who are able to play (whether it's on JP servers or they never logged out) so the fact that I can't play FRUSTRATES me the most.
In fact, I'd almost opt for a Nuclear option (having SE hit a wipe-all to ALL SERVERS both JP and NA/EU) once they have "fixed" their server problem.
since the na/eu servers aren't taking any new people ive been forced to go to the japan servers along with a lot of other people. is there any way that id(and everyone else) will be able to move my(our) character(s) to the server i(they) want in the na/eu servers when they allow people in them? i dont want to start all over and lose everything ive done and redo everything as well again.
While not the best policy from a monetary standpoint... spending that extra money and over delivering with a smooth launch has it's own benefits.... look at the D3 launch... similar situation... no one could login.

The message says to wait for an opening on the server...where do I check when an opening opens?
Really starting to wonder why I bothered to buy this game if I cant ever play it....
Get it together square enix!!! i did not pay for a game + a monthly sub to beat the login boss. Not all of us have Leisure time when we want it.We work dammit and have schedules.I want to play now!!!
I demand blood be spilt and the person in charge of servers commit seppuku!
Just a heads up.. It says JP data center but it's posted by NOC_NA in the NA section of the forums.. If this is intended for NA data centers we got a whole week of this shit ahead of us all..Quote:

Thank you very much for playing FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn.
Currently, an extremely high number of players are enjoying the game. Should the number of players continue to increase at the current pace, there is the possibility that our expectations and server capacity will be greatly surpassed. Therefore, in order to maintain a stable gameplay environment, we are implementing login and character creation restrictions.
In order to be able to welcome a drastically greater number of players, we are starting as early as this week with preparations to increase our facilities, to be ready by early next week. Until that time, we will be continuing to implement these restrictions as required, and we ask for your understanding and patience.
We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience, and once again thank you for your understanding and cooperation in this matter.

Coming from FFXIV 1.0, I have to say I am utterly disappointed at this 1017 situation. They seem to be very concerned, even Yoshida shed few tears, but thats all they do! They milk enough cash out of you first, then screw you in the ass, then pretend to be sorry. But they will leave the mess to you to deal with. Early access didn't mean crap when I can't even play during early access. I had enough of this, especially from SE. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, well, fuck you and goodbye!
1017 is far worse than 3102 or 90000. The later were beta issues, this is a whole other monster.. just ridiculous!!! Sigh.
You can ask for peoples' understanding and cooperation all you want, but the fact of the matter is, you're not going to need any of those additional server upgrades when 85% of the people who purchased the game will likely ask for refunds.
Created a new character on a random JP server. Named the toon Useu Protest. Sitting in front of the town's Aetheryte afk while I now go out for dinner.
Where is your source for this? I haven't seen anything on any of the SE sites that indicates that this will be an option. Would it be nice? Sure, but why do that when they are just clearly limiting character creation as a means to stop server population increases?
And what exactly are the "proper channels"? Aside from the standard, we're working the problem updates, I haven't seen a FFXIV community manager like person even address the masses of frustrated players.
But does that kind of award or bonus really affect how SE would do things in the future? Digital "bonus/awards" don't affect the bottom line of a big company like SE and the bottom line is what really brings attention to the people in charge who can make changes (and make them happen fast!)
