SCH should get its own starting class (or get ACN and give SMN a new class); it would give new players a second healer option to start out as and it's not like it keeps any of its old ACN gameplay (for what little it had). ( ಠωಠ)

Normal Raids from Stormblood onward are just glorified Trials. Pandaemonium would have been more fun if it had had exploratory stages like Coil and Alexander.
This is completely accurate but it's hard to balance in FFXIV's system because it causes two issues:
- Fighting trash is uninteresting, nobody really enjoys fighting random mobs other than the odd WAR main who thinks Bloodwhetting is peak job design.
- Combat means resources, thus it would cause Savage parties to back out and rebuild resources every wipe to have their best foot forward every time.
Proper raids only work in FFXIV when their availability is limited, like BA and CLL, but those have an entire game mode sorrounding them, and limited availability wouldn't work for how Savage is supposed to operate, that is, that you can keep going as much as time will allow to hone your skills and reach the point you make across, and other than outright changing the name of "Raids", I don't know how to fix it within FFXIV's limitations.
Though one thing I would say is that I don't agree that raids are "glorified trials", it's the inverse, Trials are given much more narrative significance and spectacle, so raids are trials but lame.
Summoner should not be a job, but a mechanic for any job akin to a limit break.
If I said this already, needed to be said again
Well I guess that blu mage never hitting level 80 came and went cause now its lvl 80. All jokes I love when people type the blu mage - Never hitting X - lvl cause uh were gonna get lvl 90 blu
I absolutely hate the crafting system in this game
The funny thing about the BLU doomsaying is that level 70 BLU was 5.45, and now BLU 80 is scheduled for 6.45... by Nophica topping Halone, I wonder if there is any reason to suggests that BLU updates come late in the patch cycle and the one time it wasn't was the exception...
FF14 is not the MMORPG that puts the RPG in MMORPG, its story is meh and you have no control over the actions of the warrior of light in the narrative to make it an RPG.
The MMORPG that does this is SWTOR.
Another hot take is plugins are just the unofficial patch that more times than not fix the game.
not sure a hot take but a trend im seeing here on aether party finder. so I check the tabs in pf and more often then not daily, see players from primal with a pf up offering gil in exchange for all coffers from a p1s-p4s or p5s-p8s run. like why is this becoming a normal thing to see? I get they might want to one and done so they don't need to farm but its becoming common place and its a bit distrubing. Also second hot take from this is the amount of raiders leaving primal or crystal to come to aether for clears. like are we that well known for raiding that people have to empty their pf's of clears (leaving some players without ability to clear) just for the active raids.
Hot Take: Stormblood is under-appreciated. I enjoyed its grounded story-telling ( for the most part), stakes were real, and the music of stormblood is beautiful, Storm of blood orchestral arrangement is beautiful. Very epic and grandiose.
My one beef with Stormblood is they really tried to put Lyse on this pedestal that she herself acknowledged didn't deserve. Raubahn should've been front and center of the expansion, but of course, who would've wanted a big gruff middle aged war veteran over a 20 something blonde white waifu /rolls eyes
Stormblood had the same problem as Endwalker, in that it was two expansions' worth of story condensed into one. Except where Endwalker just kinda squashed it all together and to hell with pacing, Stormblood cut one in half and sandwiched it around the other, and the Ala Mhigo arc suffers for it.
Fighting marketboard undercutters. In all categories of the marketboard you are consistently at war with either bot sellers or players who consistently undercut 1 gil, hundreds of gil or a couple k in hopes their product moves quicker. in reality its actually not going to cause your product to move faster. The tactic they actually are using mainly is to drive the price low enough to buy and reprice for higher. On my server I decided to target specific things and out of them all, only a few seemingly are repriced a gil lower each time i look. like these aren't moving so why reprice for lower. is it hopes to drive price low enough to buy and resell or hopes that your stuff does move lol. all i literally do is match the lowest price and watch as the product doesn't sell. I have done this test with all sorts of mats and gear. its always the same story. I actually think mats and gear are two targeted by bots too. you see reprices on most stuff pretty quickly. yes, some mats do move pretty quick because they are always in need. I don't know. just seems a waste to really be fighting on stuff if the product isn't really moving all that quick or often.
If they wanted to have Lyse actually 'do something' they should have had her make a battle plan, we do it, and while it works, we also lose important story characters. Like we take the enemy base, but it gets Conrad and M'naago killed, so it forces Lyse to grow the hell up and realize that her over-zealous 'just try and overthrow the garleans again!' attitude is going to get everyone killed, and that while Ala Mhigo will be free, it will also be bought with the blood of it's citizens, a price that isn't worth paying. Or maybe it is, and we see some characters making decisions that are 'going too far, but they're in too deep to turn back', sort of moral quandaries.
If Papylymo had survived until SB, him being the casualty would be a good 'hits hard' character to lose because of Lyse's recklessness.
As for my expansion-based hot take, either SB or EW should have been 2 expansions, I'm not too bothered which. Probably EW so we can have 'Garlemald' as a full expansion, and then 'Endwalker' would be a full expansion dedicated to being a Gurren Lagaan reference. Reason being, EW should have been the expansion where they announce at Fanfest that we'll hit the mythical 'Level 99' cap. It's Final Fantasy tradition and all that. But, without anyone finding out, no teasers, not shown in the job actions trailer, nothing, each class has a hidden ability. When we do the final fight, and the second phase happens with the music kicking in and the 'everyone is praying for you', we level up mid-fight to a temporary level 100, gain access to this 'secret ability' as a duty action. The boss would be completely justified in it's panicked flailing for the rest of the fight, because out of nowhere you've just got stronger, mastered a new skill completely out of nowhere, and now nothing seems to be working against you because you're just too determined to overcome the despair
On which Undertale themed note, the final solo instance would also be improved (imo) because every time you drop, and get back up, you'd 'level up'. Every time Zenos drops, and gets back up, HE'd 'level up'. So you'd have this final climactic duel, where both of you are slugging it out over and over, dynamis letting you 'break your limits' and hit level 120, level 150, level 250, level 500, the damage numbers getting more and more crazy as you go, with the final 'actual combat' part having you dealing literal millions of damage per strike, and taking literal millions in return. And then after all is said and done, you both lose your weapons in the cutscene, as it is now, and punch each other to death. After the story is complete, you keep access to the 'hidden skill', as a regular CD (for example, in the fights, WAR gets Primal Rend, with no condition to activate, and a 20s CD. Afterwards, it becomes a 60s CD which requires you to use IR first), but your level returns to being 99. This is because if a player who is doing the story sees you, they'd see you at 99 and be unaware of the 'big twist' until they got there (unless some dickhead goes 'THIS AND THIS HAPPENS' in shout chat to ruin everyone's fun)
The final fight arena should have had Etheirys below/behind us to reinforce just how absolutely screwed we are if we lose. And there should have been a solo instance where we use the G-Warrior for something, it's sad that it's only one solo instance, in one skippable sidequest chain. I was thinking 'fight our way up to the moon through all the space-terminus-beasts', thinking it was some Lunar Cry FF8 thing (before the despair explanation came in)
I despise crafting in this game. Gathering is less terrible.
Stormblood wasn't that bad.
A Realm Reborn was very good.
Shadowbringers is better than Endwalker.
Deep dungeons suck.
Bozja and Ureka suck.
Solo Island Adventure sucks.
I can not figure out dancer to save my life but everyone keeps telling me its the easiest thing in the game.
The game would be better served by literally stopping the development of high end content and instead focus on more and more casual stuff. Socialization and events etc.
Healing as it stands is not just fine, its fun.
Warriors need nerfed/redesigned.
People always say it doesn't matter that Zenos helped us in the end and it doesn't matter that he grew up lonely and neglected, he is a bad person and a killer. Okay but that's double standards because the same thing is true about Emet-Selch. It doesn't matter that he just wanted to bring his people back, he has destroyed worlds, killed billions of people, made many others suffer and abused the Galvus family to reach his selfish goals. He's the real psycho. Just sayin'. :)
I know this is supposed to be allowed because I mean, that's what this thread is but... Not even close. You can sit there and discuss how the past affects who a person becomes and their actions, but at the end of the day Zenos' actions were selfish. He did everything that he did without a care for anything besides his own desires.
At least Emet had a purpose that benefitted others with all of the suffering he caused. Obvious if you weigh the amount of crimes on a scale Emet has done more(even if you consider how long he's been around), but the intention is so different.
Oh, and last I checked by psychos tend to be unstable, which sounds a lot more like Zenos than Emet.
Endwalker is mostly suffering prawn that has a somewhat weak climax.
Healing jobs are so samey there could be one healer job.
Stormblood isn't bad.
There should be new scions. None of the old ones should be with WoL in the new expansion exept as a cameo.
the amount of some venues ads in party finder is absurd. i wish there was a way the gm's could enforce a limit on each venue with the amount of ads they can have up. sure people would try to get around it but thats why you have someone monitor the pf ads lol.
The venues are so popular and I think if SE had a problem with them we would know by now. They should go ahead and offiicially endorse the SFW stuff and create a section in party finder for player created "social events" or something along those lines. I understand many players dont want to see this stuff, but many obviously do. Gibing PF its own section for them, instead of just "other" would serve both those who want to find venues to check out and also make it easier for those who dont want to see the ads and just want a traditional game experiences. Just look at Final Fantasy XIV on Twitch 24/7 there are people at these venues.
lol i been in the venue scene for a bit now. my post basically is pointing out a problem and thats specific venues thinking its ok to have upwards of 8-9 venue ads, creating more then they should. there was a tentative agreement amongst the community for a max of 3. Also i do think they should have a RP tab up in pf for venues. that would leave other open for what some actually use it properly for.
If you stand by the door without helping to push buttons in CLL it should delete your account.
The personal loot system in Eureka and Bozja is the best aspect of those game modes bar none and FFXIV as a whole would be a better game if the entire game worked that way.
A job doesn't have to have a high APM or have convoluted complexity to be fun.
I hope the next expansion has an actual antagonist/antagonistic group that isn't a personification of a metaphysical concept. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
I hope next expansion the WOL (and to lesser extent, the Scions) is finally knocked down their pedestal. Show they're not a perfect messiah. Have characters who aren't just obvious strawmens who criticize their actions. Have non-villainous characters who hates them.
Enough with the ego stroking.
My hope for the next expansion is that Golbez somewhat succeeds in connecting the Thirteenth with the Source, creating a kind of "only one can survive the merging" situation were both world will have to fight for survival (I'm sure the Scions would try to find a peaceful resolution but ya'know...). Maybe being connected to the aether-rich source will cause the voidsent to revert/semi-revert to their previous forms/memories. With this, we will be the "villian" for an entire other world and there wouldn't be a clear good guy or bad guy, just people fighting for survival. (ノ´ヮ´)ノ*:・゚✧
I'm hoping the next expansion takes us to Meracydia or the New World or something. Someplace where we're not a storied hero who's saved the world a half-dozen times before lunch. I'm sure we'll have to bring a couple of people along since the WoL doesn't get voice acting, and they've already said Krile will have a bigger role, but we can leave most of the Scions behind for a while.
I'm pretty sure it will, especially the New World. Both were mentioned by Emet-Selch at the end there, and the reward for grinding out 50,000 bicolor gemstones is a wivre, native to the New World and ridden by the mamool ja. That and they're expanding BLU, which is a New World magic.
That would actually be a really solid plot. Except it sort of happened already to a lesser extent with Garlemald.
The Garlean people never really stopped criticizing the Eorzean factions, and by EW the Garlean people weren't really the antagonists that they had been in the earlier expansions. They were suffering and struggling but they held firm to their beliefs and it was a massive fight to get them to accept any assistance.
Obviously it doesn't have the same impact because they were antagonists at one point, but still.
What you would really want in this situation is a new antagonist, and another separate faction(s), where either those factions like the antagonist or they group the scions + WoL with the antagonist. It just has to feel a bit more genuine than say the Sharlayan Forum disagreeing with the Scions who are supposedly some of the most well known talent to come out of Sharlaya.
Most people are selfish and unhelpful. They will claim that they are helpful and nice, but most of them will just ignore you or treat you like a burden. In my almost 10 years of playing this has never changed for me.
The 2 minutes meta and reward structure as a whole is a complete failure (PvP, Island and Criterion are a good example). Also many parts of the game's UI is terrible, just look at the friendlist and FC tab. It's probably the worst among all MMOs lol
