Deltascape is appropriate too, especially ExDeath. He is so FF XIV-ish.

Personally, i would like them to abuse all other FF, like VII/VIII or IX.

Hmm, I mean I've always wanted Viera, but I wonder if they will add the Males, or if they just stick to Female like they only add Female Glamours lmfao
I kinda think they won't add Viera but a random race
U sure?

If we get ANOTHER RACE WITH A TAIL, can they please address the glamours that the tails make look stupid like the reindeer outfit?
i'd be quite ok with the tactic version of the viera, i mainly want something a bit more beastial rather then just human with animal parts glued on.
the lupin would be a brilliant addition but the more beastial looking veria or 'hummingway' (what the childlike race was called when they showed it) i would be ok with
I like that idea! Although I can only imagine my fantasia woes would be doubled.
Also, I just stumbled upon the following - had no idea they had already created the softer subset (I've not played the XII games)

I'm sure they could find a way to work both into XIV :X
If you want an Elezen with bunny ears or a Miqo’te with bunny ears get all hyped. If you want something like the pictures you guys keep posting you are going to be so disappointed.
Oh, I don't want Viera to be playable at all (I'd much prefer Lupin, which already exist). I'm just saying that replacing their rabbit feet with 'human feet' is just taking away the only unique thing about them (and will also most likely make them slightly shorter).
Also, to the people saying 'just make them not wear shoes,' would you really be okay with that? Some leg gear just do not look good without proper shoes on. Imagine a Viera wearing this, but without the foot gear (too lazy to get a screenshot without them)

Well sure, if you just remove the foot armor entirely, it would look weird, but that's why they could take a few spare moments to adapt the armor for their new race.
There seems to be this weird vibe that I get often in these forums that a game developer shouldn't have to put effort into things.
See if they had digitigrade legs then it would be an issue. It's half the reason they changed the Khajit and Argonians in TES because the ones from Morrowind couldn't wear shoes due to technical limitations and extra word for races that most didn't touch. However the Viera aren't like that, though it looks like they /might/ have toyed with the idea in one of the concepts for FF14. Just adjust the shoe designs to fit a higher heel and you're essentially good to go. Or make their feet longer and add claw points at the end, since from what I can see most Viera wear a heel anyways to give off the exaggerated look. They already have to give ear flaps to the Miqo'te for every hat design, I don't see why adding claws or a heel would be more challenging.
And I hate to keep bring up that art piece I linked before, but that's how they worked in Tactics Advance. Most of these have normal shoes.

^ That said, this example of slight digitigrade legs would be harder to work with but not impossible. It would require more modeling though.
Have they done anything for Au Ra horns, though? Pretty sure they clip through helmets and hoods, much like how tails clip through just about everything.
My argument is that developers should put effort into the things they design. They should redesign gear for the race so that everything looks right. My argument was aimed toward people who were fine with just making it so Viera didn't need to wear foot gear (at all. Like they implied bare foot, or just their default heels), so SE didn't have to redesign anything.
This is my biggest sentiment against having Viera incorporated into XIV as a playable race. I was going to ultimately not participate in this thread ofrabidrabbit fans but these past few comments a couple pages back touched a particular nerve of mine:

Also, this game was sort of built on ripping races from another game (hello to XI!).
First of all, I don't see the playable XIV races being similar to the XI races as them "ripping" nor shoehorning races. Rather, FFXI was their 1st Final Fantasy MMO (I believe) and bringing the old races and tweaking them a bit for XIV feels way more like making the XIV's races spiritual successors of XIbefore anything else; if not for trying to appeal to familiarity. That's why I feel like the original races (sans the Au Ra, naturally) get a "pass" from looking like their XI counterparts; both are MMOs of the same franchise/company.Quote:
*the image of the XI races*
I also don't consider anything where reusing models for monsters/beastmen to hold much weight, argument-wise. Monsters looking the same from older games in the franchise has always been a "thing." There's a big difference between using XI's crawler model and hand-picking an entire race from a different game and possibly defying lore (on both fronts) and immigrating them over.
Which brings me to my main reason why I don't find it particularly tasteful for them to be implementing any one race from XII like Viera, or Bangaa or theirother rabbitsIvalice Moogles into XIV just because some fans always wanted to dress-up their very own "x" from Final Fantasy -whatever... I say let the devs design whatever they want to and feasibly can design (as a race) that can be called XIV's and not "they took (insert non-MMO Final Fantasy)'s race" because certain fans persistently pestered about it even though they were repeatedly told they can't disclose anything.
This game is all about fan-service and weird tie-ins that make very little sense. We've had Lightning, Rhapsodies, Shantotto, Yokai, Garo all the numerous costumes from previous FF titles, and probably plenty more items I'm missing. This is not a game that is working hard to keep outside influences from coming into its world. Viera is not that strange a leap given their history.
Now, if they want to create something completely different? Cool. More races are always fun. However, Viera are quite popular, and going back to that ol' fan-service thing, it's a safe move. Concept art has been floating around for 2 years now. They could have just kept that to themselves if they didn't want fans to speculate and get all pestery.
And I apologize - I was reading your comment from the wrong side it seems. D: Their track-record when it comes to the unique racial features (tails, ears, horns) leaves much to be desired. I'd like to think they would put some effort into the feet though as that is one of their more distinctive traits.
There's a very big difference between everything you just described and what would making Viera a playable race would amount to. It's no secret that this game employs frequent cameo-appearances, brief collaborations/cross-overs and homages; fun little things like that aren't super-impactful and most are even temporary. Those are very different from grabbing a race from a different game and going "okay, this is going to be a new permanent fixture around here now." There's fanservice and then there's flat-out pandering.
In the case we are actually getting Vieras, I had imagined we wouldn't see them until the last part, since I thought SE might want to display them in the Fanfests first. But who knows. Aaaah, I don't think I can wait more than a year for the next Fanfests dfgdfgfdgh. I've had my possible Viera character in mind from before HW was released, now I'm too eager! (>_<)
I'm getting all Excited seeing these Viera designs! Fingers crossed cause I think people are looking forward to it.
I know that we will get a new race for next expansion what we don't know which one it's gonna be and to be honest I don't see a much fitting race than Viera.
And regarding footwear just give them an ankle-bracelet. End of the problems lol
Rabbits don't have digitigrade feet, they are plantigrade like humans. Cats are digitigrade but the Miqote have normal feet, there is no reason to frankenstein a rabbit based race with features of a totally different animal type.
They are often depicted wearing heels because they aren't digitigrade, if they were then they wouldn't need or have heels. They probably wear heels because they have goofy big rabbit feet or because they're a race of fashionistas.
In the art without heels they are shown to naturally have long flat feet. They also have beastial hands with long fingers and nails. An often overlooked trait is that their lower and upper body are disproportioned, a larger lower body giving the appearance of wide set hips and small torso. This could be a subtle distinctive feature too like how Au Ra's have their weird spine. They can look very unique based on the old games.
I hope they also add Green Mage as well as Dancer.

Games with Viera...
FF Tactics Advance
FFXII
FF Tactics A2
FFXII Revenant Wings
FF Tactics S
Puzzle & Dragons
Only in one game are they like Fran and only Fran is really like Fran. I don't think they should base a race on a single character.
tl;dr viera aren't digitigrade, no reason to make them digitigrade now
