Is there any source that says that they did not really want to do it? I am just curious since that sounds like information that is not meant for the public ear? Also was there any real confirmation that the NA promotion was that bad for Amazon? Those few people that used the system like that would have probably not ordered anyway. Yet at the same time there were probably lots of people that only ordered thanks to the deal. Also canceling an order is something that happens on a daily basis.
I mean, even if Amazon cancelled the promotion because of the behaviour of some North American players why should European players suffer the consequences of that? Some European countries either didn't get a promotion at all or worse were promised one only to get nothing even after months of waiting. Even those countries that did get a promotion had awkward, poorly accessible methods or suffered shortages due to people elsewhere in Europe competing with them. Multiple American friends of mine offered me codes but I couldn't use any due to region locks.
@Theodric: Thats true too. Just because one part of the player base (and probably also only a small amount of the NA players) did something wrong does not mean its alright to "punish" the rest. They could have simply said that you cant use preorders to get the codes. I just get the feeling that SE did not truly want to deal with creating all the different promotions. I mean how big is the chance that you will get new players by having a promotion at bars? It feels so random.
Already posted on Reddit but can bump this here also

Seems that there might be some Hope to get the Campaign back... even if this one is just for JP only atm. D:
I'm scared because we (EU) won't see it happen any soon, and maybe some countries will never see it happen just like the last time.
Let's see what they have to offer to NA/EU, but I'm quite tired of these collabs and it's a bit discouraging.
And JP first - EU last, as usual.
Hold onto your tails ladies and gentlemen... here we go again!

Now... will they learn from last time?????
Sure glad that lessons have been learned about releasing the bonuses (and information) globally. Thanks in advance for the six months of seeing everyone else on my server enjoying the new items while I am still waiting for the campaign to be revealed - which will no doubt somehow still be too late for people in the randomly-selected 'wrong' countries to prepare a method to obtain them. Argh.
I'm reluctant to be optimistic. It's limited to Japan at the moment and I'm guessing they will tackle North America after that...and then eventually get around to Europe. Even then, if they haven't resolved the problems that existed with the original campaign then we'll still be stuck with people waiting around for excessive periods of time and potentially being screwed over again.
A lot of European players are located on North American servers like Balmung - in my case it's because that is where my friends are and it's the biggest hub for role-players. I had many American friends who offered me codes throughout the North American campaign and yet because my account is flagged as European I could not use them.
So, yeah - adding them to the Mog Station for European players would be preferable for me.
The last set started out exactly this way, with a Japan only release at 7/11. Butterfly on a wheel. =(
It's annoying as I live in Japan so could actually take part in the campaign, but I have a European account so I will have to wait for them to (hopefully) release it there. Just hoping that ifwhen they do release it elsewhere they have a better campaign than last time.
Oh boy am I excited to have to wait ages to maybe get a campaign where I live that is probably going to not be good at all.
Honestly I just hope the Americans get something lousy instead of Amazon so they can suffer like we had to.
Because us Americans were specifically polled as to what should be done with the EU campaign, right? "That guy across the street just kicked my dog, I hope the person next to me gets punched for it!"
I hope ya'll manage to get a good campaign this time around if they do a global one. Maybe they'll reach out to the EU branch of Amazon or some other more widespread store. Fingers crossed for the lot of you. :)
Yeah, there's no need to hope for it to be handled poorly in a different region just because we Europeans got screwed over. With that said the lack of any communication makes me extremely wary. I have my doubts that the feedback gathered in this thread was handed to Yoshi-P. I feel like he genuinely cares about the game and community to the extent that he'd likely not tolerate something like this so it could be possible that he hasn't been made aware of the disaster. I hope I don't get into trouble for posting this, but it feels like the legitimate complaints were brushed under the rug, possibly for the sake of someone hiding that they handled things poorly to the extent that they could lose their job.
After all, any feedback gained from the English forums would need to be translated into Japanese and one would think that something as major as this would be brought up during a Live Letter or even Fan Fest. It wasn't, though - and now there's another campaign with nothing in the way of a reassurance that European players will not be screwed over once again. Still, hopefully it is just me being cynical and paranoid and we'll get a response in this thread to alleviate concerns. Many of us have continued to post here periodically for...well, however many months this thread has existed. It'd be very good to see a scenario where European players can easily gain access to the promotion items.
Yes, sorry that was uncalled from for me. I guess I'm just really bitter, especially where my old FC were publicly discussing and telling people to just cancel orders and told me I was being paranoid when I told them that they would ruin it for the EU players. Then while they were strutting around on a fat chocobo that they shouldn't have rightfully gotten I was stuck waiting and waiting and waiting until an event that is trash became available.
Next compaign looks like another outfit and another mount :/ idk if is really official :/
I would like an official response on if this is real and what it means for NA/EU players in terms of these items being made available to the rest of us.
Great SE...lets just do another campaign with great items (that Chinese or Korean cloud mount..) after how horrible the EU campaigns were done. My only last hope is that they learned from the EU situation and wont do it again..
I will be here and will protest again if they do something bad for the second time..
(I am just kinda disappointed that they put all those nice items behind campaigns for new players..I mean getting them as a current player is just a bonus for us, but in the end they want to make more customers.. it feels like new players are more important than making sure that all veteran players can get them..)
Lets be sangoku soon

Hope they give more than 1 ways to EU this time. Video game store , amazon and actual collab. of each country from europe ( hope )
Maybe there's still hope to get everything in EU then. Please please please SE don't screw up! ><
At least this time I'll know to just take part in the UK promotion and be done with it.
It makes me angry that we always have to speculate and that we are dependent on their goodwill to get things from Campaigns carried out in Japan.
They should know that people in the rest of the world will find out what SE offers in their Home Country to their own people.
We all paying the same sub, so we have the right to get the same stuff without begging for it.
If you always prefer your own people then it might have an undesirable effect.
In the future, some players might be thinking "keep your stuff region locked and I keep my money region locked".
Sorry if that sounds harsh, but I can't stand this "Japan only" any longer.
To be fair, they aren't technically wrong. Companies like Amazon expect things like that to happen. It means nothing to them if a handful of people cancel preorders for digital codes. The overwhelming majority won't. So they take it as acceptable losses. How promotions work is Square seeks out offers and likely chooses whichever's most profitable. Hopefully, the negative response and pushback from the EU playerbase convinces them to try something better for the players not their wallet.
Still no word on this, I see....
I am just not really sure if the devs like Yoshida even know how bad the EU campaigns went and that part of the customer base got broken promises or just a very bad deal.
i just saw the new promotion items for the first time today, early in the morning some ppl were /afk in idy

I had a thought; is it possible the contracts for last campaign covered this campaign too?
Hopefully it won't be the same and we will see improvements, esp. for the ''EU'' accounts
I want that cloud mount :X hopefully they will come over to us T_T.
I'm waiting/hoping to see if they say anything about bringing this to the rest of the world, but I'm a little surprised that there's still been nothing said about it coming to us.
Have you ever asked yourself why they refuse to speak english?
They are traveling around the world. Live streams with people watching in EU, NA, Australia and so on. But they are speaking japanese.
That's actually all you have to know about how much they care about the rest of the world.
Ps: Oh, and let us beg for the mount on another 100 pages, otherwise they will not feel flattered enough.
Tbh I think that's just because a lot of them don't know these languages. They have translaters, but you can't expect individual people to communicate well in languages they don't know fluently. The team communicates well enough with us through translations when they want to. I think the main gripe players have with this issue is that last year the EU campaigns didn't go that well and a lot of the player base missed out on getting the items, so there's disappointment that the cloud mount was put in another JP exclusive campaign instead of on the cash shop where everyone everywhere has access to it.
Because they don't speak english? At the english fan fests, I believe the whole dev team except yoshi P thanked everyone and had a speech in english. To the point where Yoshi P was like "why is everyone speaking in English?"
Have you ever asked yourself why you refuse to speak Japanese?
The issue with the EU is that it is not a country. NA consists of like 3 countries, whereas EU might as well be called "rest of the world", and should be noted as such when dealing with these kinds of campaigns. Does it suck that certain countries didn't get campaigns? yes, is it feasable to hold events like this to the whole world? no. Mistakes were made, and I can imagine that the second go might be slightly better after the amount of feedback.
LoL
I'm from Austria and I try to do my best to get informations in a foreign language because english and spanish are the main languages. Japanese is not. If japanese would be the most widely spoken language I would of course try to learn this language.
I'd rather the team behind the game focused on the game and not learning English/Spanish (Yoshida's English comprehension is actually pretty good, he's just not confident in it and struggles with complex sentences). Square-Enix is a multinational company with a huge English-speaking and in-house translation facility. There's no need for Yoshida to go around wowing us all in English when he has bigger things to concentrate on.
The people who should be talking to us about this issue are the English-speaking community team. And those are the people we need to nag, via their interactive broadcasts, social media and, of course, the forums. They cannot be unaware of the level of dismay given their previous (belated and unhelpful) apology so it's frustrating to see their continued silence even as those around us ride around happily on their new mounts.
