Possibly seconds of ideas
I'd just like to second any ideas that provide an incentive to visit friend's houses and increasing the number of friends you can share your teleport to. I feel like any FC member should be able to teleport directly to other FC members houses. I find all my friends and I all sitting in our own separate houses or in our FC houses.
It would be nice to get some buffs or special effects for visiting friend's houses. Such as every 5 min spent within a friend listed player's housing unit provides an hour long buff to health, gp, mana, whatever.
In addition, the ability to stack furniture on stages, not all houses have flat flooring designs and it would provide more room separation for our already very small spaces. Not to mention more than 2 floors for small houses. Basements for the win.
This is longggggg but just hopeful suggestions every now and then...
Again a huge thank you for the white partition we can dye!!! and the white wall option is nice too :)
This is a long list of things I really think would make housing more creative and enjoyable, especially for those that have a "need" to let loose their creative side. They are not demands!!!...nor any indication of disappointment.. please see them as positive possibilities!!! :oD.
Hopefully the housing developers can dip into some suggestions when time/resources permit :)
They are merely suggested for those who crave to be as creative/expressive as possible.
-first and foremost: double item limit
-toggle ability to hide decorative wood pillars along walls or/ an option to dye them
-partitions that can mimic all wall coverings, including half partitions.
-ability to dye ceiling tiles + wood ceiling dividers (dye separate colors would be awesome ^^)
-addition of floor we can dye
-ability to dye the current white wall ^^
-ability to dye pillars
-ability to deeply bury partitions , in fact any furnishing, deep into the exterior walls and into the permanent pillars
-removal of "no place zones" near staircases, all exterior wall depth limitations , all of them. ability to place items on staircases (without the need of the glitch to achieve) would then be possible as one example.
-rugs up staircases we can dye, ability to choose color of staircase wood
-ability to hang wall mount items from stair railings/banisters (again without having to use glitch)
-ability to add more ceiling lights anywhere we choose (even if smaller versions only are available to accent directly over an item /area etc)
-addition of a musical carousel furnishing, using mini "primal" ponies.
-outdoor: taller trees double height of ginkgo tree with branches starting farther up to allow for walking under but with a very broad canopy
-spooky erie old dead tree for halloween - large and creepy
-more night glowing "tree of life " style trees
Next are the not expected suggestions, difficult ideas ...BUT would loveee them and will mention just in case its possible one day!!
-**possible removal of "tabletop" and "floor" only limitations, as well as " outdoor" only limitations.
allow us to use anything...anywhere we choose. exceptions would be gardens, chocobo stable. but 99% of items could be used indoors or out. which leads to the next suggestions directly...
-**ability to resize any item...to very large and very small.
This alone would relieve much of the item limit issues and one could scale items to cover more area but also improve creativeness to allow...large items like gargoyle statue to be scaled down to mini table top size/shelf size for display etc...or even an outdoor tree scaled down to become an indoor plant display .. Resizing would add a lot more creativeness for players. Scaling to enlarge would also be very enjoyable, add this with the ability to bury...and tilt on any axis and we have the ultimate winning combo! :)
-**ability to dye every item
-**ability to suspend any item, mid air, any height, anywhere (without the current glitch needed)
-**ability to bury items into the roof, floor. (any amount)
-**ability to tilt and manipulate any item to any angle ie: to achieve a spilled drink or a chair that has been knocked over. upside down fun house with the ceiling as the floor and floor as the ceiling Oo. etc
-**trees that change leaf color/shed leaves with seasons
-**addition of personal screenshots as new "paintings" option
-**allowance of a few minions to wander outside or inside home
-**addition of ffxi music to orchestrion ( I know...but I would love it) lol
-**addition of special "effects" Rift has items in which an items icons are only visible in "edit" mode but display beautiful special effects when placed ...ie/ a spotlight of ANY chosen color light.., a raising smoky effect, dripping water effect, flame effect, lightning , sparkle etc. This can accent and highlight an area specifically or a single item this way..many many possibilities and results.
-**non destruction of housing glamours ie/ moogle, chocobo ,eatery etc. allow us to freely interchange without needing to destroy. ppl would be encouraged more to collect all of them if they are NOT destroyed each time (I know I would ^^)
-**remove 1/estate limitations on items like the indirect lighting
-**adjust lighting per floor
-**addition of room expanding doors eventually to increase size of interior homes ..ie patio door to exit into a sunroom/conservatory/pool room something like that..
-** the best possible suggestion, however not expected(but hoped for one day) : ability to build from scratch.

Persistent plants in flowerpots
Wanted to echo some earlier posts from up-thread:
(cross-posted from this thread)
Especially now that we have the beautiful new cherry blossom trees, it seems a shame that the designer's hard work can only be appreciated for a few days before the plant withers. (Even the apple and orange trees, or the exotic-looking shard plants, are worthy of appreciation in my opinion -- so this could possibly apply to all plants.)
My suggestion is for an option that can be chosen for fully-grown plants in flowerpots that would:
- Make the plant unharvestable (it can only be removed)
- Remove the "ready for harvest" sparkle animation
- Allow the plant to persist indefinitely, as long as it is tended daily
- ...and possibly also fertilized on some schedule? (Daily, weekly?)
This way we can appreciate the devs' wonderful work for much longer!
It's fascinating to look through this thread and see how many suggestions from the earlier pages have been implemented. As someone who came to the game late, it makes me feel very thankful!
