i think i never going to play x_X
No new news, but just to add to the data pool.
Bought the CE version on 8/13, got the refund last night, but still no message or voucher or anything.
funny story, tried to play on my PC, worked just fine with no problems (my pc is a P.O.S so i don't want to play on it) but tried my ps3 and got that "no valid service" error.../sigh
Reporting in... still nothing.
I've seen a LOT of misinformation posted in this thread, and as someone who had the same issue, but is now all fixed up, let me give you some first hand advice.
Last night, SONY, not SE refunded the price YOU PAID for your game to your wallet on the PS Store. If you bought CE, you got 59.99 back, if you bought SE, you only got 39.99 back.
A lot of people panicked last night and either bought the opposite version that they originally had or went through extreme lengths to get the client ready for today. Stupid move on their part. They were scared by idiots who didn't know what the hell they were talking about. Those of us who waited for something official to happen received a message in their XMB mail box with a voucher containing a preorder code for the game. I got the CE version because that's what I originally ordered... not sure if they upgraded SE buyers to CE or not. So now I have 59.99 in my PS wallet, and a copy of A Realm Reborn for free. Life is good... because I DIDN'T PANIC.
If you preordered off PSN between Aug 13-15 you should get the same deal. Not sure why you haven't yet but it will come.
So, let me get this straight. As for Legacy status players (who really have the Legacy icon on their SE profile and have only one SE account, so there's no misconfiguration between accounts), and who are getting the "No valid or active service account" error, we need to do the following?
1) purchase the game
2) launch it without downloading it and start playing
3) request a refund
4) wait until the final release, after Early Access, to get our bonus Legacy status items
And this is true whether it's from Playstation Network or Amazon or whatever vendor? Is that correct? Is PSN reliable for getting refunds, and they'll refund a game which remains installed?
So we were supposed to have just been able to log in directly, as we had done in the beta phase, but there's some bug? And I don't have to link my PSN account to my SE account? I didn't, because I don't know what that does, or why it could be needed, and I don't know where to do it anyway.
I have not received anything from SE or PSN in my messages inbox on my PS3, but it sounds like that's only for people who had purchased ARR (not Legacy status?). Unsurprisingly, I have received no response to my ticket filed at 5am CDT with Square Enix.
Thanks.
EDIT: I just called PSN and they said they have no notes on the issue of legacy transfers, and that refunds are only taken on a case-by-case basis, so don't rely on that at PSN. I checked Amazon and they claim to have Early Access as a "bonus offer", but don't buy the downloadable version because those aren't refundable.
EDIT: I just tried this. It creates a new FFXIV service account. It'll give you the option to import the appearance of your previous character (in my case, from beta phase 4), but it'll make you otherwise start over from scratch. So, given that I have a pretty good Legacy character at level 37 (and a few level 15 jobs), a Goobbue, a Chocobo whistle, and a pile of money, I have to say "forget this!" and call Square Enix on Monday. *fuming*
And the result is that now I can log in but then when I select my Legacy account, I get error 3108, saying that my account is registered on another platform (Windows) and can't be used on this platform (PS3). I had started Legacy status on Windows, obviously, since that was the only platform at the time. This is incomprehensible.
Bought CE on 15th. Still no access and no message. Really glad I went to sleep an hour after EA started otherwise I would have gone crazy by now. This is really fucked up.
