I'm guessing this might something to do with the fact they planned to allow inactive accounts to join the end of era event. That's probably when that check was taken out by mistake.

As a test I am going to get my friend who only played for 2 days didn't even make it to level 10 as I recall before quitting to sign up for the Alpha to see if he gets in the next phase. He probably give me the account if he got in.

Acknowledging receipt of an application is meaningless unless he gets in. I have had many job applications acknowledge receipt of them, but a lot less giving me an interview, this is no different.

That kind of form actually compares your application with the data on your account automatically. It's not just a fire and forget e mail form that you can just send whatever the conditions. When the application was opened several people complained that they weren't able to apply, and then they noticed that the reason was simply that their account wasn't active (they didn't initially read the rule).

To verify, you can try applying to the beta right now yourself. The system will immediately tell you that you're unable to apply because your account is already applied.

Please, let's not insult each other's intelligence. It's not very becoming. Not only that thread was not a duplicate of any other, as it involved a very specific issue. There are still multiple threads on the generic "Baaaaah! Why didn't I get accepted!?!" topic, and none of them has been touched.

Quite obviously duplication or redundance aren't the issue here. Trying to divert attention towards that issue is a tad disingenuous.

To help weigh on the clarification of "Active account".

My girlfriends account was disabled from the first step and when attempting to apply for alpha it would not allow this to be done until we logged into her account and enabled it (nothing to do with Characters or payment options, It was purely "Disable or enable FFXIV on this account").

Also for those frustrated, I understand It can feel a little insulting but what Harm is there with those that quit back in 2010 coming back with the chance to throw some opinions on why they left, as it may assist in development for the now.

it was more then likely split by computer specs/ time available/ region/ and info in the application about interest. point and case me and wife been on the game since alpha/beta/CE launch and we both got in been playing the game ever since it came out and will continue but we also have plenty of time to test, high spec machines, and not a lot of playings in our region.

I can understand long time players feeling frustrated and irritated as i myself would be if i didn't get in, but complaining doesn't make anything change, the game will grow, the game will improve, the game will launch, the game will be played by those that play it and hated by those that hate it, just as all those reading this have now lost The Game :P (couldn't resist haha)

besides Q.Q'ing isn't gonna help they already said they will not answer questions related to application selection process. shit it could of just been random and the majority(inactives) where just that the majority of the app's lol. don't complain about it just continue to follow the info and watch the videos that are being leaked from hundreds of JP players almost daily and give feedback based on that lol >.> a.k.a be more useful and less like Rokien Vinland lol :P (a.k.a the most useless forum member/troll in xiv history ever)
