Something need to be done about BAD DPS.

Personally, I think SE should tack on an extra $5 to everyone's sub who fail to meet DPS checks and should add a message to their sub that it's happening because they're playing not just below the optimal level, but below the standard level.

I think that would solve the problem.

Do any guides for these fights ever cover DPS rotations? I usually see mechanics mentionede....but never how to time your cooldown for crucial phases.

Well it's a little different for every job. The guides DO cover mechanics, which includes when there are DPS checks that need to be met. A player should know that a DPS check would need their full attention on damage output as well as how to achieve it. I don't think it should be necessary for a guide to specifically breakdown how each job should use their cooldowns and abilities.

It doesn't need to be. You can burn a quick Dreadwyrm/Death flare on the initial adds and have Dreadwyrm back up for the Carapace. Or if you are confident that your DPS is strong enough to kill the adds without it before it's carapace time, you can save it if you want.

My point was that general guides shouldn't need to include information on how to play your job. If you know a DPS check is coming, and you know what abilities and cooldowns your job has available, you should be able to gauge what you need to do on your own. The guides just cover the mechanics part so that you can plan for movement, phases, adds, etc. rather than how to do the actual functions of your job.

Speaking of bad players in general. Did anyone notice after around midnight cst, it seems the rate of fail pts and "I play how I want" people pop up a whole lot more? Not even kidding, had perfectly fine runs all day, then about 12:30, everything goes downhill and ended up in 4 dungeons where we abandoned because the people were just that bad.

It wasn't even "I'm new", which is perfectly fine, they're learning, but it was the "I play how I want" type of bad, with no new person message :/ As in, people going balls deep before the tank has hate on all the mobs (specifically they go balls deep on the ones that weren't pulled first, so 0 hate on the others) or people who just blindly ignore mechanics, even though after you explained them and then continue to wipe 5-7 times. It's worse considering one of the pts, the other 3 people had multiple 60s, yet either didn't know the mechanics (which caused wipes) or just plain ignored them (again wipes). In one of the dungeons, the nin just up and decided during a pull to walk face first into another group, with 0 AoE in the pt and low lvl.
