Couple bad runs of FC hard last night.
1st time I had a tank who seemed aggressive from the get go. I'm blm & building up enocian for the free fire spells and such, doing the usual rotation I've done a million times with no issues.
He shouts out "BLM what the $$$$ are you doing?" "Single target spells?" Uhh yea, B3, enocian, B4, F3, F2 for AOE. We're only on the first group of mobs. so no big deal. Think Mr Tank wanted me to be hard casting F2 with only 1 AF on me because he seemed really annoyed when he seen me cast "single taget spells"
We carry on beat Ultima warior then I get booted out the blue.


I hop back in once kicked and begin again, only this time I have a newbie healer on their first run. They died on the first boss as didn't catch the direction of the lasers, she apologised and said they would catch that for next time. We carried on, beat boss without the healer, hop in the teleporter and a vote kick for the healer pops up due to AFK (they weren't) I declined as thought it was a joke but then sure enough healer is kicked by the tank and other DPS (who have same surname so guessing a couple) Tank dies to the first mass pull after the teleporter and I comment
Me: "Why did we kick the healer?"
DPS: "I don't know"
ME: "Well it wasn't very helpful, it was their first time, we didn't wipe. It happens"

This one sounds like a clear cut case of kick abuse...

Expert roulette as SMN.
Getting smaller pulls than usual, but things going fine.
When running to the last boss, the tank shouts: "LOVE YOU GUYS" and other nice things about nice dps and such.
Just made me real happy, seeing someone so positive. The world's not such a cold place after all. :)

If I'm not mistaken(haven't had to use it in a long time...and not currently at home to be able to check) it should be under the System menu->Support(or something like that, I think it's the top option).

As a healer main, I feel triggered reading this given the rest of the story.

Given how the story went, I'd almost be tempted to respond with "sorry, I don't raise healers that aren't healing :p" but that'd just aggravate the situation. I'd say just blacklist and move on if you haven't yet because then at least you know you'll never get them in any PF afterwards.

I hope next time you go in with the same situation that I get paired with you just so you don't have to deal with that >>;

I'm generally a proponent of trying to keep the peace and making things work within a party, but this would have been hilarious.

It irks me to no end when people refuse to do their job when they disagree with how someone else is playing (within reason). Now, if during that first attempt they found that they couldn't keep up with the tank's HP spiking and other party shenanigans, they could have mentioned this during the wipe and could ask them to stay in tank stance to help make it smoother. But alas, it doesn't sound like that happened, and instead they opted to act like sulky children and just refused to heal.

Leveling gave my BLM Darkhold a few days ago. Blessed new sprout WAR tried. I asked him to turn around so the positionals would be better for the MNK. The WAR asked why, what difference does it make? I explained that it would mean that the other people in the group (melee in particular) would not be the ones possibly pulling extra mobs and that the melee who had positionals could execute them. They'd started to do it, not always but sometimes is a good start. I said thank you.

Yesterday's leveling gave me a similar story but the new GLD would not use flash... at first. I don't think I explained it very well but he was with a CNJ and a THM in Tam-Tara. All three were new sprouts. Tam-Tara is what it is so it wasn't a pain that I would have taken much time to try to help but I had told them "Please try to use flash" and then "you can use shield lob as you run to the enemies and then flash when you get close." He uh... adopted the face plant run in and flash technique. I wish I had explained more but none of them seemed all too interested and Tam Tara is easy enough that it wasn't hard even if I did BLM tank enemies since they'd die before I would and the CNJ was good about healing and killing things. Plus, it's so new I don't expect them to be great. I just wanted to give some tips and pointers for improvement. Since it didn't matter much at so low a dungeon level, we just finished the dungeon with no real fuss.

I think they all came in together since I got three commendations and they all came from the same server. I hope the new tank develops into a great tank!

I'm so sorry, Moro. It seems a certain attitude is settling in among some players that they can do whatever they want and have others carry them. It doesn't work like that. It's a team effort where everyone takes their part.

When I get into the big leagues, I want you to know I'd be happy to have your back. Red mages should be dealing damage. Not casting Veracures while the healers are sitting around doing nothing.

To the DRK in o5s a few days ago:

I know that the passenger carriage might seem like a comfier place to be, but there's angry exploding ghosts in there. Please spend the vast majority of your time with the rest of the party instead of being in there!

Yesterday, leveling roulette gave an alt's WAR Gubal Library. Had a newbie, which I loved because I was needing the second chance points. Healer mentions they're new to healing (or at least healing the dungeon), so I did smaller pulls. Everything goes well, then first boss hits. I wasn't sure if the newbie was actually new or just someone on an alt, and I think the others weren't sure as well, since no explanations went out.

Anyways, the newbie died to the first area swap. Then healer went down, then the BLM. All this happened around 40% or so left on boss. Meanwhile, I was trying to stay alive as much as possible to hope that I could clear, only to fall at about 5% or so. Failed at that, but learned newbie was actually new, so explained mechanics that were shown and off we went. The rest of the dungeon went amazingly well and I'm sure the reason I got three comms was due to the attempt at a solo clear of the first boss.

Today, leveling puts same alt into Vault. Right off the bat, had a DPS who apparently had better things to do as they would wait until the last few mobs were left alive and would sprint off to the next set (or in the case of pre-first boss, sprint off towards the steps leading to boss). I'm also not sure if healer was in a ultra DPS mindset or what, but I have never had to Holmgang so often just to try and self heal, even with buffs and Conv up. I'm honestly surprised the run went as semi-well as it did, only had a few deaths (RDM got knocked into the vuln portals on second boss and healer stood in bad while trying to holy the vodoriga near the end and died to chains near the end of last boss).

I can understand getting into a DPS tunneling on healer, I've done it. I just don't understand DPS who think they don't have to help finish killing things just because it's trash mobs. If you feel like you have some place better to be, why are you even queuing up in the first place?

You know…I caught some flak for a couple of threads that I put up, and then I see it happening in endgame that makes me feel justified, but not any better because it’s impending my progress. Went into O5S for my weekly clear (but it might as well have been the last three weeks given how many times I’ve had to give up on progging O7S because I don’t want to miss out on my loot chests). The story is the same as always – the beginning starts off fine, then once the ghosts start showing up, everything just goes to hell. I get it – stuff happens, the randomness will throw people off, but the fact that I can call it consistently is just ridiculous.

And this was a PF weekly clear – with ‘duty complete’ checked off. It’s to the point where it’s almost not worth the aggravation of doing O5S anymore because it feels like PUGs have started to get worse.

First time I used AST LB3, ever. and it was stupid how I realized I could cast it.
DR: Alliance, got Dun Scaith, long run, our party had several DPS who left and were replaced, wiped 2x at Scathach. my WHM co-healer was new to the dungeon so I switched to diurnal for more HoTs. gave tips so we be better at dodging mechanics, though I didn't do so well myself. at Diabolos 2nd phase, all the alliance except for our tank and I wiped, and I was in my mind "OK, let's wipe this", not realizing we had LB3. I was trying to die so hard but didn't, thank goodness I was paying attention to the party chat xD hit LB3, tried rezzing as many healers from other alliances. we cleared. didn't expect my first LB3 would be that disorienting xD

Mentor DK, first weeks of O2S

DK starts MT, first swap dude stays in grit, stays in front of boss, dies to 3rd stack, second swap DK doesn't taunt, I die to 3rd stack, wipe
Asks DK why he didn't taunt : "Well didn't you want to MT ?"
Group and I tell him about strat : DK says : "go"

DK starts MT, first swap dude stays in grit, moves to side of boss, after boss ping pong eventually dies to 3rd stack, second swap DK doesn't taunt, I die to 3rd stack, wipe
DK says I didn't taunt, or don't know how to aggro, I tell him about stance dance and shirk.

DK starts MT, first swap dude stays in grit, moves to side of boss, after boss ping pong eventually dies to 3rd stack, second swap DK taunts, I shirk, smooth swap
DK says : "See, this is how you take aggro !"
I answer him : "This is how shirk works"
We somehow wipe.
Group and I suggest I go MT.

I start MT, first swap DK doesn't taunt, I die to the 3rd stack, wipe
I ask : "Why didn't you taunt ?"
Dk says : "I tought you wanted to MT lol"

Nana Hya has left the party.

Mentor healer, low level dungeon (think it was tam tara)

Tank pulls, healer doesn't do anything at all, just stands there. Tank eventually starts running in circles then dies, co-DPS and I manage to kill the rest.
We ask healer if he's ready (may be he was afk).
Healer says he is.
Ask him why he didn't heal the tank.
Healer says tank do not need his heals, can sustain himself only with bloodbath.
Group tries to convince healer to at least heal the tank.
Healer firmly maintain that he is right
vote kick sent
I /huh the healer and click on "Yes"

Am already a longtime fan of Tifa from FFVII
LB3 is up (we hadn't warped yet)
No one is using it
Am thinking : "cool, nobody noticed the LB was up"

Now each time I run chrysalis, I tell the group : "Don't forget to save LB3 for the warp phase !"

Pretty much this. I achieved the status when I finished getting my WHM to 60, and I am a below average healer. Sure, I could improve myself by practicing(same with tanking as a WAR...pretty much hate using WAR tbh), but healing just doesn't appeal to me as much as it does to others.

Went into Hell's Lid a couple of nights ago with my partner, Wolf. I'm BLM and Wolf is SAM (I know, I know lol). Healer is (I think) Scholar, tank is a DRK. Both tank and healer are lalas, Wolf and I are cats (although I've not returned to Lala for a while).

I notice tank starts out in Darkside. No grit. Hrm. Interesting. After that square room, in the tunnel with the lion and crags, I had to use Lucid Dreaming as I ended up ripping the lion off the tank. We make it to the first boss and I decide to use Diversion before I begin my single-target rotation (which I think needs some work as I really only manage about 4k on it..). Even still, I'm seeing my aggro meter grow with the tank still in Darkside. Soon as Lucid Dreaming is off cool down I'm on par with the tank for enmity and I pop it. I think the healer died here, but I can't recall. We did finish though and carried on.

Next comes the fun part. The pull before the ferret boss. Tank takes that snake in the hallway and begins to pull it towards the rest. No big deal, this is how it usually goes, except because tank is in Darkside still, my partner Wolf ends up pulling the snake off the tank. Tank doesn't come back for it, Wolf nearly faceplants. I aetherial manipulate to the tank to hopefully get a jumpstart on aoeing the mobs after the tank grabs them. I'm not seeing any cool downs on the tank at all. I'm doing on aoe rotation (which I also think needs work maybe) and I've had to use Lucid Dreaming again as soon as it came off cooldown. Next thing I know I have full aggro and the tank is dead. Healer is trying to hardcast raise them, I'm using manawall(ward?) and Wolf manages to take a few of them off me while the tank is being raised. Wolf kites them away from me, but I end up dying. Tank didn't grab them quickly enough and so Wolf died and then the tank dies and then the healer.

Tank: "For future reference, don't run away from the tank when they're trying to pick mobs up."

See, now I was mildly annoyed to begin with because the tank had been 100% in Darkside never used Grit at all from the start of the run and obviously was having difficulty holding aggro. Had they not said that though, I would have just ignored the wipe and carried on. No big deal. But no, the tank had to essentially blame us for trying to stay alive long enough for the tank to get a) raised and b) healthy enough to even grab the mobs.

Me: "For future reference, we were dumping our aggro constantly. You're not holding aggro in just Darkside."
Tank: "You mean when I died? lol You only got aggro there"
Me: No, right from the beginning of the dungeon. I've been using Lucid Dreaming every time it's off cool down and I'm still pulling off you.

Nothing else from the tank. Then Wolf says in voice chat to check the tank's gear. Oh boy. I'm ilvl 351, Wolf is 353 (or higher). Tank had a few 340 pieces (Genji ring of fending from o1s) but *most* of their gear was 320 or under so we're guessing that they might have just been at ilvl for Hell's Lid.

So, you'd think that dying would have made them more cautious for the next big pull after the ferret boss (which I pulled off them despite using Diversion and Lucid Dreaming) but no. Oh no. They decide that after the fall, they're going to pull EVERYTHING to past the first bridge and then grab the two enemies on that second bridge (before the two big lions) while still just in Darkside. I'm on voice chat saying this isn't going to end well, they're not geared enough for that pull. And sure enough, they weren't. They die. I die, healer dies, Wolf dies. Wipe. We try again. Now this time you'd FOR SURE think they learned their lesson? And you'd be wrong! They try that pull again and again they die. This time the healer manages to get them up and we somehow didn't wipe again (I think a few baddies were dead though so maybe that helped).

By this time, I've stopped bothering to use Lucid Dreaming, maybe to see if the tank will actually start trying to hold aggro by going into Grit and maybe to see if I'll actually pull off him again. We get to the final boss and it doesn't take long before I pull briefly off the tank before they grab it back with Provoke of all things. We did manage to finish the boss though and both the tank and healer left after the loot roll. Neither wolf nor I got a comm. I commed the healer at least.

Second story!

Also from Hell's Lid. I go in on BLM with a member of my FC on his WAR. We get an astrologian healer and another black mage with some 370 gear. Other BLM dies on first boss (oopsie) then healer dies on first boss. We manage to get the first boss down. Healer dies on next trash pack. Healer dies on second boss because they weren't standing in the right place, we manage to stay alive. I for some reason have Drain on my hotbar. No idea when or why I added it but there it was and it actually worked enough to keep me out of dangerously low HP levels. Everything else uneventful; healer figures it's their VPN giving them a faster connection than usual (??) but it's really no big deal. We're making good time regardless.

Get to the final boss aaand healer dies with the boss at like 20%. Then other BLM dies (didn't see how). I'm 100% expecting a wipe but again for some reason I have Drain slotted on my hotbar. I figure - it can't hurt but I wasn't expecting a miracle. Tank goes ham on DPSing, I pop Manaward(wall?) and because I'm sitting at only about 20% health, I spam Drain and... hot damn it works. I get up to 80% health and the boss now is at about 15% or so. Between the two of us - we power through it and finish it off.

No comms.

Darkside isn't a stance and, with the removal of the mp drain in SB, the only reason not to have it on outside of a few very specific situations is to be synced below level 30. As for grit, they definitely should have been using that, especially considering their gear level.

So, today I queued up for a nice and peaceful trial roulette as tank (paladin, it will be important later, believe me). I always have 'Party in Progress' checked, to help parties who lose their tank, for whatever reason. And for the first time in a pretty long while, my trial roulette queue pops as a 12 minutes in progress trial. I load in and I immediately see Ravana. Frowning, I ask the chat what happened and the only answer that I get is 'mechs happened'. Two of the dps leave while that is being said, so we wait for two new dps. Finally, I pull, as MT. The OT was also a paladin and he had Sword Oath on when I loaded in, so I assumed I was going to be MT. First thing I noticed as soon as the fight starts is that the OT is doing absolutely... nothing. Not even kidding. His character was even turned away from Ravana, and he wasn't attacking, moving, anything. Then aoes appear on the floor and he barely moves and takes the hit. A minute later, he types in chat "shield", during a slaugther cast from Ravana. I ignore it, not knowing what he means. A good 30 seconds+ goes by and he types in chat "oath". So I type "hm...what?". Silence.

Another full minute goes by and he types again 'shield oath' in chat. So this time I say 'Can you make a full sentence, please?'. I had shield oath on, I didn't understand what he could mean. Then I see him switch to Shield Oath himself and I kind of get the hint that he wants to be MT? I think? But I've been watching him! I knows he barely attacked the boss and has been getting hit in the face by every single mechanic. So, I don't feel like letting him be the MT! But I was wrong. Because next thing I see in chat from him is : 'shield oath, turn it on'. ?????? And I promise you my Shield Oath was on the whole time. It had been on since I first loaded into the instance. So I couldn't help but say 'It is on, you weirdo'. Then I finally didn't hear from him again.

Until his mechanic comes around. The one that focuses on OT and deals a good share of damage and the OT has to stand away from the party to not cleave everyone? Yeah. Somehow he managed to be the OT, by just enough hits on Shield Oath, and he stands where everyone is stacked, cleaving everyone. Until I yell in chat to get away from the party and he runs to one of the barriers of the arena and we just hide behind Ravana again. We end up killing him just fine and I got all comms at the end.

It wasn't really awful or anything, but it was... so weird. I don't understand what happened or what he was trying to do, to be honest. Oh well *shrugs*

I assume someone hasn't run a tank since Stormblood...Or you know, anytime before. Bloodbath was nice, but for anything not a Warrior, it really wasn't enough on it's own, and for Warrior only for a little while.

I had a rather unfortunate death on the monoeye NM in Eureka. So you know how the game handles area of effect skills right when it hits each respective player?

Well I was standing medium far away from the boss when he did his draw in effect so I started to walk out of his gigantic 10000 tonze swing range... only to be drawn back in right before it finishes. Assuming you can find anything left of my body I think I died.

Just came out of a really good Hell's Lid run. Two SMNs, One AST and me tanking. The SMNs melted everything. EVERYTHING lol. The ast made me feel safe and threw some dps on the side. It was beautiful. It made me miss playing SMN (haven't played it in over 2months now).

This is a good story!

PotD floors 91-100

Those groups are always a crapshoot on class mixes. This time it was 2 astrologians, a lancer, and a ninja. (I am one of the astrologians, total newbie healer who has somehow kept the groups alive so far.) On one of the early floors, the other astro dies to...something...I use Ascend, we move on. Abruptly, the astro leaves. We lurk on the next floor's entry point, avoiding the various roamers, hoping for someone to come fill the spot. No one does. We start doing all the floors as a group of three.

So at some point I end up dying to an angry coffin-wielding zombie hellbent on smashing my face in (after a series of other zombies tried to murder me). The DPS manage to live and go on a quest to activate the Cairn of Return, which was rough since one of them had the accursed pox from a mimic ambush two floors ago. They activate it and revive me and we move on.

Floor 99, we all vaguely know what the boss does. In our 3-man misadventures, we obtained 2 pomanders of resolution. We put together a really half-baked plan wherein I just heal everyone, the lancer uses Lust, and the ninja uses the resolution pomanders to deal with adds. Floor 100, Ninja ends up chaining the pomanders (probably not too great of a tactic - something to remember for next time!). Of course we run out of pomanders, leaving the adds 'alive' for the rest of the fight. The adds think my brains look extra juicy. By the end of the fight, I'm out of MP and running circles around the boss and the lancer who is MTing, casting aspected benefic on whoever seems like they need it since it's instacast and I'm on the run. Ninja is chasing me trying to murder the adds while I'm avoiding being hit. Crazy music plays the whole time.

I didn't think we were gonna make it but suddenly...! DUTY COMPLETE appears on the screen and the boss is a pile of rags and no more zombies are trying to eat my brains! We lived! Party chat instantly filled with 'holy crap that was crazy' and 'good job everyone'. I informed the two DPS that they both got comms in my heart (curse the 'you can only commend one' part of commendations), commended the ninja for surviving with the pox and no healer earlier (the lancer deserved one too!!!!), got one commendation myself, and I sure hope the lancer got one from the ninja.

Sadly my accursed hoard reward was some underwear and demimateria. Oh well. I got the boss's theme orchestrion roll to remember the experience by.

Great story! Too bad you didn't get any comms. It sounds you really deserved a few.

Drain has saved my Black Mage's butt more than once, also. It's not a spell I'd have in my rotation; but, there are times where survival is more important than damage.

I guess we have yet another topic to chat about in Limsa Lominsa. /laugh

This is why I wish you could gave comms to more than 1 person.
Seems like both tank and Kakiko did a great job here. If I was one of the two other I wished I could gave comm to both.

You and me both, Sesera. I'd love to see a system where we could choose to commend a character or not for every individual in the party. It would be a fairer system of feedback than the one we have in place now.

Just left a Susano normal in Trials roulette because of a jump potion tank who thought he was all that and more, and even said I wasn't healing him despite spamming cures on him to keep him up (he was sprout, still in exact gear jump pot gives). Pulled hate multiple times because he couldn't hold it to cures, despite me using lucid on CD whether I needed MP or not. NIN kept blowing the LB3 despite being told not to by multiple people. Off tank of course doesn't grab orbs, as per the usual, so I end up getting them myself (happens 100% of the time). Last attempt the tanks switched around, and the other WAR lost hate to me in a single cure and I got tankbustered to death. I gave up on them after that. Its hopeless when you're being told you're not healing yet you see Cure & Cure II constantly on my cast bar. Not to mention, TWO tanks and neither one can hold hate to a SINGLE mob?!? Like really??? Jump pots are seriously the worst thing ever...

I feel awful. I just finished up Sigma v3, and as I was typing my thanks and getting ready to lot, my game decides to go unresponsive. I had to force-close the game, tried to log back in, game was still being funky and I couldn't even click on the start button. Restarted the PC and rushed back in. Several people were already gone by the time I got back, and I ended up passing everything for making them have to wait.

Now they probably think I'm one of those people that hold out on a lot to force people to leave. Ended up with 3 comms as well. :(

Don't worry about it, Skivvy. Most players know other players can get disconnected for a variety of reasons. The game even shows an icon when someone disconnects. So, you have nothing to be concerned about.

I remember leveling my MCH in thousand maws of totorak. The tank decided to big pull and obviously we could only take down enemies so fast. The tank got angry and left. They wanted heavy aoes... in a level 24 dungeon...

I had a similar thing with the game playing up when I got dumped into thornmarch recently. Died towards the end and accepted a raise. No issues until I was back in play. Appeared I got placed into a magic clear box I couldn't escape from. I was stuck running in a 5ft circle on my raise spot. Boss died, most left. Couple stayed to watch me running on the spot in a small square like pattern. Logged out. Back in. Back at thornmarch. Still in the box and now showing the echo 10%. Tried again. Back in with echo 20%. Then I got timed out the instance and all was well. I do wonder how it looked to other players lol
Got 2 comms I think from the 2 who watched me for a bit struggle lol

You can AoE down mobs pretty well at low levels if you have ranged/Castors as the dps and WAR as the tank

I probably should've mentioned that the rest of group wasn't really fit for that but yeah... you get the idea

Welp, just got out of a PoTD run. It was the first ten levels. What do I get? A tank that decides to not only tag just about every enemy on the floor, but then proceeds to run with them like a chicken with their head cut off. Did this for 3 floors. They won't even attack after tagging. The two melee in our party had to race to do any damage whatsoever and I'm leveling a caster. So guess who's useless while the tank drags things around corners. >_>

I ask if they could please quit, even inform them I'm not getting AoE until level 17. The answer? "No. Sorry."

I left. I don't care how short the run is, it's not worth running with someone that inconsiderate. I can grab food and browse stuff during the penalty. I feel sorry for any pug that gets that tank.

Got called out for posting on the forums by a rando during Eureka. I???? Don't believe anyone cares what I think in any setting??? I just do what's entertaining for me the way I want to approach it. If that's explaining NM stuff while waiting for the weather to change in Pazuzu's hidey-hole that's all that there is to it. People are just going to do what they want regardless.

It happened during heavensward, when bloodbath was still a war skill.

Same for my chrysalis fail : that was during my 2nd or 3rd run of it, but also my first run as a DPS (I tank most of the time). I didn't know what you where supposed to do (or refrain from doing...) when playing that role.
