Considering I had a strange twist of fate and got it in roulette, 100% targets the healer too.

Well that was a fun Weeping City run. I just want the Yaefemi Casting coat but it turned into Babyfest 2018. Got to Ozma. I'm in Alliance A and our Tank pulls early, I guess. People got locked out, we wipe whatever. Second round, I don't know what happened. But we wiped again. Then, Alliance C decides that they don't wanna play anymore until we kick our Tank. B also decided to join in too. Kept harassing our Tank to leave or for us to vote kick them. I didn't want to give in to them. But I was starving and so I pulled up a vote kick. I'm so sorry Tank. :c
(A lot of the toxic people were from Balmung too, how fitting. :3)
I see about the same level of toxicity from a broad spectrum of Worlds on the Aether DC. Bait or joke or not, it's actually starting to just be completely untrue that Balmung is some unique cesspool of toxic players. We got those aaaaallllllll over the game, not just on one RP server.
( Frankly I see a heck of a lot more filth spewn from the Greg and Turtle servers than I do my own. Even Mateus people seem worse half the time, and they're the nice ones. )
I played that very first MSQ mission in roullete and at the end of it i have just mindlessly pulled the army of the colossus you have to destroy them by activating 2 mechanics, i just forgot about it! We end up wiped 3 times each, because the guys who died keep coming back, it was an endless circle of massacre.
I totaly forgot about it, that story mission is so annoying and weird and not obvious enough.
Not to mention in the middle of the map i ran into the starting point of the mission and like 8 other guys run with me, just to realize there is a shortcut to take.
I really have no idea how to play MSQ, because it was so badly designed, i have been carried trough while watching those retarded cutscenes back then. xD
i got a post-it on my screen now with the name "Luzera Prime/doom" on it. hopefully i get him some day on that dungeon and im the healer. the only skill i will click is a bye bye wave. xD
watching guids for 4 player dungons. omfg >.< a good heal can save almost everything in every dungeon. and dude. if there is no big giant red eye while the cast nobody can turn around to avoid it. thats a fact. you can text 100 times that this is possible but its 100 times just a lie or you rly belive it. in case that you rly belive it where can i buy the same mushrooms that you take? :p
The overwhelming evidence to suggest your wrong is staggering but here you are still trying to argue with people that have already proven their point, whereas you have yet to provide a shred of evidence to the contrary. Usually those with a valid argument will provide the necessary proof to back up their claims. I can say I saw an alien holding hands with bigfoot but doesn't make it true without any proof, nor is anyone going to believe a story without evidence.
I'm wondering if you're just trolling at this point or genuinely believe what you say as a fact?
Wow we hit 1500 pages and everyone just ignored it...
My congratulations (or more like condolences?) on hitting 1501 pages everyone!
Cipher just happens to be one of those forumers who thought they were 100% right, facts were thrown in their face, couldn't own up to that they were wrong and would rather put-down then put-up.
Cipher, if you feel like its beneath you to admit you were wrong, then just don't post here. Or rather stop posting and projecting.
Been farming Byakko EX quite a bit on my healers, so I got bored and joined a “Helping two FC members clear” party.
Pretty confident on healing this, but once the tiger add spawned, it pretty much ate the OT (a PLD) alive. Prey explosion pretty much one shot her. So I’m like damn I must be getting tired or she didn’t use cooldowns. Raised the OT and managed to get to the dps burn before the fall.
Add wasn’t even half HP when phase ended.
Go again, pretty messy overall with ppl stepping on puddles and tanks getting vuln stacks. NP, can manage...Nope, add was still over half HP.
I started to check these people’s gears. BLM was using Ala Mhigan Rod, OT PLD Ala Mhigan Kiliji and Pants (ilv 310).
Both of them had 1 job at lv 70, nothing else.
Don’t know the rotations these people were using but OT couldn’t hold hate at all and we never got pass first dps burn phase.
I mean, I get you wanna help your friends but please have some common sense/courtesy for other people.
I wanted to get some poetics so I queued into 50/60 roulette and got Wanderer's Palace (Hard). The party was at the first boss. I guess the original healer left. Anyway, we 3 man that because someone was afk and move on to the trash. Since the group is sprouts, we take it easy and pull a pack at a time. The other person familiar with the place explains to pull the groups out of the red totem fields, and all is well. On the second boss, I identify the green totem as the dps totem. Someone walks into it after turning into a frog from the boss' cast and tells me it's the frog totem. I shrug a bit and just make sure no green totems are left up at the end of each phase until the boss dies. Again, all is well. The trash between Boss 2 and the end isn't really noteworthy either. I feel like people are learning well for the most part, so maybe the last healer was just having a bad day or something.
When we get to the last boss, I briefly explain the mechanics because someone asked (moving the boss out of the totem fields, killing linked totems and mage adds). I didn't bother explaining Soul Douse because doom is too spooky. Then something mindblowing happened. Soul Douse went out, someone got doom, and I healed them to full. Soul Douse went out on me, I healed myself up to full and dispelled it. That was so strange. I nearly fell out of my chair because I never expected something like that to happen when I used my healing magic. Why is white magic so powerful? I mean, it's doom. The word means the inevitable end of your existence, right?
Afterward, one of the new people laughed at the cutscene of the tonberries stabbing the boss. I have to admit it's one of the better victory cutscenes.
While I cannot speak for Mesarthim, but I genuinely am open to having my mind changed I am always interested in learning different ways to handle mechanics. Not a 100% sure what I am doing wrong put each time I have tried the turn around method in undersized but each time I get hit with doom. Maybe it does not work in undersized. While the cynical side of me thinks you are trolling and your comment regarding the video was a bait, but am I willing to give the benefit of the doubt since clearly you have no real reason to lie why shouldn't I trust your word. I mean it is not the first time years after the fact new mechanics are found in a game so maybe you did find a way to dodge doom every time and turning away is just one part of it. Any more info would be helpful, or hell I know it might be annoying but one example even if it is just a screen shot that would be awesome. Even if you do not it is awesome how you figured out it was a gaze mechanic after all these years that is some impressive game sense.
Either way good on you man, and hopefully we can correct this misinformation in due time, and looking forward to any future discoveries you may find in your time playing this game.
On Byakko quite often people can’t dps the tiger well and so it’s health doesn’t go down far enough and everyone wipes except the tank and off tank. They also can’t seem to place puddles on their markers so we end up with nowhere safe to stand. :)
I find that tends to happen the most when the MT doesn’t tank Byakko on A so when the markers appear, people panic and run like headless chickens.
Wait - do you mean to tell me one of my little heal spells can save someone from the horror of Doom-death?!
My god, I'd have to be an absolutely horrible person to not be willing to toss someone a heal with that kind of payoff.
Thanks for the tip, this was something I didn't know but now that it's been explained I will graciously accept the knowledge and not argue with you for five pages for no reason.
(See, that's how that should have gone)
I love it when people join a PF group that is specifically looking for people who know the fight up to a certain point and then clearly show they have absolutely no idea what they're meant to be doing. Progression/Learning might be in the advertisement, but you can't ignore everything else that is written.
"O7S progression, know up to Virus," is roughly what our party leader wrote. NIN who joins showed us they did not know what they were doing and even commented the video did not prepare them for this. Majority of the group wants to learn the later phases of the fight (MNK we got later was fantastic and we saw Enrage) and as harsh as it sounds, we didn't want to spend our time teaching one person the ins and outs of the fight leading to Virus. Also did not help that their DPS was abysmal. Was informed it was around 1300-2500, which explained why Dadaluma was still alive by the time Guardian used Retrieve Program - Ink (normally, if our DRG wasn't sick today, we can kill Dadaluma after two Aura Blasts. One if the Gods of Direct Crits grace us with their presence).
Meant to post this the other day, especially seeing it continues the beloved trend of never accepting fault for one's own mistakes :D
Friend and I queue into 50/60 and wind up getting Halatali Hard. She's on WAR and does the big pull at the beginning but despite rotating every single CD, including Holmgang, goes down near the very end. No big deal, right? The three stranglers left had barely a sliver of health anyway. Nope! The healer gets incredibly salty, insisting big pulls like that are "dumb." Checking out his gear... I noticed a problem. He had multiple level 45 stuff, and what he did have at level was either i100 or lower. Basically, he was woefully under-geared. So I point this out as he still hasn't stopped whining. He initially tries to claim his gear's the proper level until I specifically mention the aforementioned pieces. He promptly handwaves it as "its fine lol." We finally keep going and he proceeds to wipe us on the first boss because he just couldn't let this go.
Round two! He dies almost immediately, again. Friend and I end up duoing the boss from 50%ish after the other DPS does down. This trend continues, and I swear, I'm holding back a snarky comment about his gear again but decide to focus target him to see what exactly he's doing. Cure I. He only used Cure II if he got free procs and never touched Medica or Medica II.
The irony? He's a tank main with a level 70 Paladin.
I had a really bizarre run of Hells' Lid the other day. We had a PLD who must have bought a secret new jump potion or something. They were level 70, had Ryumaku and normal Sigma gear with augmented Lost Allagan weapons but they had absolutely no idea how to tank. They were constantly in Shield Oath, never used a DPS combo and always had bosses face the party. Despite constantly being in tank stance and using aggro combos, me (BLM) and the MNK were constantly wrestling with aggro no matter how many aggro dumps we used.
It's not like the tank was new or anything because they explained the boss fights to everyone even though none of us were new.
I have no idea if they were trolling or they had somehow got to 70 without anyone telling them how to tank.
That sounds odd. If they were using their aggro combo while in tank stance, there's no reason they should've lost aggro. Unless they had moments where they were not performing any actions. This is in regards to bosses though.
What about mob pulls? Did they just jump in without any aoe moves and just tried to enmity combo mobs one by one?
A couple of days ago, before logging out I decided to go on one final queue. I got, on expert roullette Hell's Lid, whose comp was me as Bard, Paladin, a Summoner and a Conjurer... yup. You read that right. Not a White Mage. A Conjurer!! I could already see this was going to be a bumpy ride. The tank pretty much had to do small pulls otherwise he would die. Our Summoner, for some reason, kept standing in AOE's and dying, making the dungeon longer than usual.
The first boss took over 5 minutes long. I know this because I used Battle Voice twice, which is under a 2 minute CD, fyi, and when it ended it was under 60 seconds CD. Our Summoner kept dying over and over again on the boss AOE. I do not know why, but he just wouldn't move. I'm not talking about the melee 360 swing (that I would have understood) the first boss makes, I'm talking about the rocks and cone attack.
And then, after the boss, something amazing happened. The power went out in all of my district. Truth be told, I was actually glad that happened, and I feel sorry for the poor dps who had to replace me. I won't forget your sacrifice!
I'm not sure if that conjurer healer dude really did not know about job stones or if that was intentional. If it was, please form a full group that get a consensus about that, instead of wasting the time of other random people.
Oh god I'm in the same data center as a healer who doesn't know how to deal with Doom in WP HM. I bet you're the same healer who would let me die in Dun Scaith to the Deathgaze Doom.
Yesterday I queued into Weeping City as part of the Alliance Raid Roulette to level my BLM. Wiping City indeed. Mechanics on Arachne are a meh but hooo boy Forgall. One healer constantly died to Mega Death and many times too many were dead to even stand in the Punishing Ray red pillars. I stayed by the healer I saw knew their stuff because I didn't want to die to Hell Wind or Brand of the Fallen. I could count on that healer. This was a bad sign for Ozma and so we started to ask, who needs an explanation? What should we explain? etc.
Ozma did Ozma's thing. Three times. At least once a tank would pull before everyone was there. B's team blamed their tank and they kept starting the eventual downfall of the entire raid. One of our dps thought they could help B by going of there. Multiple people in B would just walk off or the tank would not pick a side on the platform, getting people hit. The vote abandon went through.
I finished Alliance Raid by going up through Syrcus Tower. Thankfully it's hard to actually wipe on ST.
While this has been a fun doom lesson, I think my favorite post in this thread relating to doom was the time a DPS was complaining about the healers in World of Darkness who were not removing the doom from Angra Mainyu (floating eye boss). They were going on about how they had 3 wipes on that boss, mostly to doom, as the healers refused to use Esuna. Also went on to comment on their Shire gear and how they were obviously jumpers. He managed 5 upvotes for that one!. Quality post.
For anyone not familiar with that boss and/or healing, there is a Doom move that is 100% avoidable, and it can't be removed with Esuna (have to stand on glowing pad to remove). So yeah, raid was failing to an avoidable mechanic, and the healers got the blame :X
Yep seen that...been there done that.
There's 3 varieties of Doom i've encountered...one that cant be removed at all which requires a mechanic...like a Pad.
One that can be Esuna'd.
And one that requires a full heal to take care of.
Truth be told - the number of healers who flat out refuse to use Esuna is horrifyingly stupid. - But even I know the difference between what can be Esuna'd and what can't be. :)
Don’t you know? You automatically blame the healer for everything! Even if it was your fault!
I bet those healers were DPSing, too! How dare they! They should have been using those GCDs for healing, and cleansing the uncleansable Doom that can be completely avoided!
A pro healer would know that if they stand between you and the eyeball, it breaks the gaze line of sight and you won't get the debuff. I've never gotten the debuff so my healers must always be doing this for me, even though I've never actually seen them do it because I keep turning around...
So you're saying they were like the WHM that was in the O4N that I got thrown into for my Mentor roulette last night? DPSing and healing...but not raising ANYONE, and begging for Mana Shift. Good thing I was on my RDM so I could stay at less than 3k MP almost the entire time.
It was sarcasm. O.o And a jab at the last ~10 or so pages of this thread where we were literally debating how the Doom mechanic in Wanderer’s Palace HM worked with someone who thought it was a gaze attack when it’s not.
There’s nothing wrong with healing AND DPSing; it’s all about finding a balance between the two, which it sounds like that healer did not have.
