that is correct. In general, its like an ingame battle replay, the same feature you know from fflogs, only, you know, ingame

I don't think so. Parser logging's primary method is capturing network data. That data is also used by the client to show you what other people are casting during combat, where they are, and damage/healing numbers that appear when you (and other people) do things. The client itself could choose not to record that data in the replay feature's log, but in order for the parser to not see it, it'd have to not be sent by the server at all and that would cause side effects (like not being able to see someone elses casts).
Note that it's the parser that logs data for upload, not the game. So long as the server still sends that data across the network to the client, it doesn't matter what the client does with it, by default. (If you switched it to use in-memory parsing, then what the client does could have an impact, but that's already the not recommend method.) I don't anticipate this will be a problem for parsers because SE changing what data gets sent to a live combat client when replay is on vs when it's not would have all kinds of side effects and be pretty odd. But I have no insider knowledge so I could be wrong.
It sounds like the replay won't show you some things, yeah. That's a shame, although if you got to watch a really skilled player and could at least see their rotation maybe it'd help even without the numbers. But I'm not sure exactly what will be visible and what won't.Quote:
The thing that excites me the most about the replay would be the ability to pause and look at specific events through other player's perspectives: what comes to mind is a simple "Watch how I handle GCO, and emulate it" but it being limited like this is going to kill a lot of that for me. >.<
This is very very very interesting, this was asked to Yoshida and his answer..
Q. Can you please make a players guide for new game pad users? Beginners don't even know the existence of the lodestone, so i had a hard time when i started playing lol.
A. The beginner's guide is always a pain in the neck, because beginners tend to skip or avoid reading text. The only other way is to create a dedicated UI for beginners.....
Source: https://www.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/comme..._server_other/ This goes strongly for reading tooltips etc too, too many players don't bother reading and skipping things they --should-- know. Now I know I know, it's not about reading tooltips etc, but ignoring whats on your screen is a step backwards for many players.
They specifically mentioned Battle Log will not be recorded due to "the risk of additional data that comes with it." Basically, Replay is watching an entire fight unfold after turning off your HUD. Sadly, this is likely their idea of a parser for PS4 players despite it being completely useless given all its restrictions.
Yes, but I was replying to a question about if that will affect parsers. :) It shouldn't, because the parser reads data from the network as it's sent to the client, and all that still has to be sent for the combat being recorded to work as-is. If the client doesn't save it in the replay, that doesn't affect parsing a live combat. (I imagine you wouldn't be able to parse a replay you're watching if you didn't do it live.)
No need to state the obvious. I'm glad we agree.
What I said means what i said, "I said the DRG was above what was needed" so if 4.7k is above what is needed, then it's ok. We agree, then. No need to make up things like if I said it was ok to be barely above the tank dps. Where did I say that?
Tbh, I'm not willing to argue with people I agree with.
Maybe I actually don't express myself clearly enough. Maybe you see so many trolls you associate their arguments with mines. I don't know. One admited he thought some things about me because I was using arguments he is use to read from other people he usually disagree with on this topic while I don't think the same thing than them and am pro-parser and playing well and aiming for improvement.
You never said that and I never claimed you did, I'm saying it because many in here LOVES to put words in our mouth saying we expect 99th percentile all the time. Hell if people can do that, I will be happy, if they are below 200-300 the first dps, it doesn't matter to me, if they are 1k below dps hell even 1.5k dps something is damn wrong, that's the ISSUE MOST PEOPLE TALK ABOUT, not the dps being 200 dps behind the first.
OP did ilvl 310 dps pretty much with 1 death while hes full 340, something is damn wrong there. And yeah we pretty much agree with each other :)
Man, I'm tired of seeing this thread pop up over and over again without the drama I really crave. OP lied and the people they lied on called them out. I wanna see what half cocked defense they have for that, not the tired old parser debate.
I would assume that you simply don't have the battle logs available when you replay the recording. Rather, when you watch the replay, you get the animations and effects but nothing else.
That makes the most sense I think, losing the battle logs whilst recording neither makes any sense nor is productive in any way.
In short, it's another /gpose function for getting cool screenshots if you ask me.
