Actually its a great idea that does wonder for the market boards, and give other crafters more opportunities to make more gil. If everybody can just make everything, then the market boards will be vacant. Now that that 5 star chef, or that specialization chef is a lil more rare, he can put some value to his goods.

And I know this topic is old, and is in the wrong place... but... crafters, please stop undercutting your fellow craftsman. If you see a ring in for 15,000 put yours in for 15,000. Example...

From this group of 4 rings, what does the consumer have to pay? Is it a trick question? No, he has to play 15k. Regardless of when your item will sell, he will have to pay. Your item will sell, and you will get your money, there is no need to undercut this price by 2k, 1 gil, 6k, there simply is no reason. Get your money, and quit ruining prices of goods. LOL

Yeah but I can sell 2 at 14k while you're still sitting on 15k..
Then if I do that for a long time, you'll be out of the market so I can have a monopoly and jack my prices up to 30k and be the only person selling it until somebody new comes along.

Come on now, you already know why people do it.. You just want it to be easier. There are other markets where there's very little competition, if you're comfortable sitting on an item for a while, which it looks like you are, then I'd just do that. Change your market to no competition, little demand and just let the item sit for a few days to sell.

I'm personally leveling all of my alts DoH classes to 50 so I'll be able to use 6/8. I started this Sunday with 100 leves, all lvl , and 5 days later I have 1 50, 1 45, 1 37, the rest are 16-17. I'd advise doing this if you have an alt or make an alt just for this if you want to be able to craft the majority of the stuff yourself. I know it's a pretty harsh grind and can be expensive. However, being a master of 6 crafts will make you a shit ton of money of launch and if you win or get close to winning in the crafter rat race your investment will pay off greatly. Total I have invested ~10 mil in making the leve items and crafting basic mats to level, plus making all the high end crafted gear penta melded for it. I can't see it costing another 5 mil if that to get the rest to 50. The expensive part the gear itself and the melds.

If it's truly what Yoshida has stated and doesn't deviate from it, you have nothing to get, it'll just be a way for people to craft hq without having to have all the cross class skills.

i.e. If you're interested only in GSM/ALC/CUL then you can just level those 3 and you'll be granted strong skills that will let you make hq items on those three after you pick up specialization and you can do without the cross class skills (CS2, Ingenuity2, Byregot's, PbP,RS) etc.

However, if you have trouble believing every word he said, and are skeptical that specialization may also come with recipes, then it's worth making an alt so you can cover 6 out of the 8 specializations.. I myself also belonging to this group of skeptics.

Btw, if you're spending 10 mil to level up a new builder, you're spending way too much.. You can actually make money depending on what you choose to craft for exp, sure leves are a little quicker, but it's a lot more profitable to just grind out hq mats and selling them.

If this is true, the big question is whether we'll still have access to those recipes if we were to change our specializations. If we get to keep them, we could simply craft the items the old fashioned way.

Keep in mind, however, that some of the information in that interview is known to be incorrect (such as specializations opening at level 60), so things might have changed.

They made a slide for it during a live letter, so I'll believe what's on the slide to be a 90% certainty.

Just some stats for people. It's about 88 crafts for every 5 level, regardless of if it's 15-20 or 40-45. I don't expect that to change.

Could be possible Demimateria will be required, as it has been with Artisan leftside & token MH turn-ins.. It's the only material of financial signficance.. And Desynthers need be thrown a bone, especially since otherwise practically all demand for FC3/MC is going to die the moment people find they can leapfrog Artisan, Masterbooks, MH etc

Stouter's slide from the live letter doesn't mention anything about "specialist recipes." If that is the only confirmed thing we know, then maybe this is all much talk about nothing. If the recipes are available to everyone, unless these abilities somehow make HQing a level 60 X-star recipe far more difficult, I'm not going to worry about this.

I remember reading that specialist will be required for the new Housing and Airship features. Not specifically a specialist recipe feature, but that still is a Specialist gate by another means. Whether other post-60 crafting works the same way I guess we can only know when we get there.
