Good point, I'd completely forgotten about that---RIP... Can only hope it won't be the case this time but definitely not holding my breath for that change either.

Two more days and we'll finally get our answers. Hope Samurai (if at all) is a fun job, tank or dps. DRK kind of turned me off of the TP/MP management. If I were to tank, I want to focus on just holding hate and dpsing, not stance dancing or micro managing.
Samurai would be a good opportunity to introduce a fresh new way to tank, like relying on combos to not only deal strong damage, but to hold emnity (skillchains). A couple useful AoE weaponskills (or an AoE hate combo). A few defensive cooldowns to mitigate damage, and a high block rate with your sword. Heck counter attacks that can restore HP when used -- so every time an enemy hits you you can counter back for a fraction of it's damage and the numbers you dish restores your HP.
I've heard that 50-60 is more efficient through regular dungeons instead. Could always be wrong. However, for your first char, you would want to follow the 4.0 dungeons and story and not grind in PoTD. Therefore PoTD won't be a quality option in case DF is busted.
I hope they don't nerf POTD T_T It is a nice way to level..they also said they are adding a new POTD, but they just said "in 4.0" I think, so that could be any time really...
This.
I'm confident that we'll see at least 1 of each role. And still confident in BLU and DNC, based on the shirt and hints from the Stormblood video. Yes, SAM was found in dat files, but it's inconclusive. Could be that they're just adding NPCs that are Samurai. Could be old "trash" code from another branch when they were considering to put SAM in Heavensward instead of DRK. Could be a purposeful troll. Could not even mean Samurai.
That said, if we have 3 jobs, one of each role, SAM could still be included (in my prediction). BLU tank, DNC healer, SAM dps.
Materia? Really? Materia use and consumption has pretty much zero impact on determining new jobs and their main stats. That's such a non-issue man. The materia economy isn't going to just explode. Not to mention, they've talked about things like removing/majorly altering the Parry and Accuracy stats, and have made adjustments to Determination in the past which will have and has had impacts on materia markets/value. The effects of the market value of materia is of zero consideration or importance for them I can assure you.
You may not like running FATEs, but they'd be new FATEs in new areas and SE absolutely wants people doing them. They botched it with Heavensward's launch by making the 3.0 FATEs not worth doing exp wise which resulted in people spamming northern thanalan FATEs instead, so they likely won't make that mistake again.Quote:
Tbh I'd rather keep PotD than run a billion FATEs though, so hopefully it doesn't turn into that (I can't know what contents they'll have available but I assume FATEs would be one of the EXP routes after MSQ, maybe a nonissue).
All I know is, I've got my front row seat ready for FanFest tomorrow, I'm gonna have this thread open and my god will I be refreshing it like crazy! xP My predictions though, just for the sake of it? SAM confirmed, as either Tank/DPS, I don't really care. And I've got a weird gut feeling that we'll be seeing a third job of some kind, not sure why, maybe Dancer? The elusive Chemist? Either way, I've got 1mil gil bet on SAM with a bunch of friends, let's see if I end up being rich or poor xD
Chemist healer would be really really interesting. First DoW to break the healer Role...
What time does the German fan fest start? Then we should know the last job.
It would be incredibly silly to not think about the market in every marketable activity you do in an mmorpg, and as you remove stats the stats left become more important to be divided intelligently. To make repeated simple mistakes like that would be troublesome, of course by themselves it wouldn't be a massive issue but would likely reveal small differences in price growing as demand (we already have that, purposely exaggerating differences would be worse - being mindful of what you have, or paying attention to rates is all you need though). It is definitely not nonissue but solutions available are quite simple (like adjusting rates of materia drops).
I have no doubts they'll add more FATEs and want people to partake in the new areas, but I do not like FATEs. They're a boring content, imo (due to the two common extremes, zerg or entirely vacant - in which both scenario FATEs have issue balancing well to). Would much rather have the best spam EXP source be PotD or dungeons (roulette makes them great for the first go at least).
For some reason I get really excited about the idea of running dungeons with a Blue, Red, Black, White party :p
2 dps will balance it out?
Queue times would then go either way, either longer then it is currently (which is absolutely disgusting) or shorter times (have doubts)
RM is of course dps but i really do not think more dps is needed. A new tank and possibly healer is a better way to go
I can't wait I'm so excited. I'm going to bed early so I can wake up at 4:30. I need to purchase my stream when I get off today.
Well in the end I dont care what we will get as long as its fun to play. (But I do hope we will get more than two jobs otherwise I find it kinda lazy.)
My prediction: next to red mage we will have dancer and samurai.
I can predict one thing for sure. About 80% of the forum users...
Today: Ugh, you are wrong and your arguments are invalid. Obviously your opinions aren't as steeped in logic and lore as mine.
Tomorrow: How did I get it so wrong! Way to screw it up SE, don't you know my way was the only logical way! *salt salt salt* Well oh well RIP ffxiv! Don't you know I know what's best?
I always figured it would go like this:
Red Mage - DPS
Samurai - Tank
Dancer - Healer
With the datamine leaks, it seems that samurai is all but confirmed. It could be tank or dps, although it'd be pretty crazy if they introduced two dps jobs (and only dps). DPS queues would be insane.
I think it'd be more practical if it was 1 DPS and 1 tank. But if they're only making two new jobs, that would leave healer out. And that'd be sorta unfair. Dancer could be the first TP-based healer, and it would definitely make things interesting.
But who knows. I just can't wait for the fanfest and see what exactly is coming. I'm gonna hope for the best, and expect the worst.
I want to believe his t-shirt is blue mage.
https://youtu.be/jvQRnNeAnw8
@ 1:07 - the blue mage spell is called spider web.
I'm not so sure he missed it. One of his comments was along the lines of, "Spider Webber," or something.
That said, I still can't see SE NOT adding Samurai in this expansion. If we only have 1 more new class to reveal it'd have to be Samurai. If its two, Samurai and Blue Mage.
I'm still betting money that it'll be both and Yoshi P will NEVER explain which the Spiderman shirt referred to, just to keep this argument/debate up forever.
If we get Blue Mage as a regular job I'd have to say next expansion our guessing games will be even wilder though lol, because he's sort of commented on it being weird and unsure how to solve and stuff like that - but if we get Blue Mage as I'd hope it be (another job you can play) then it means they've well solved the issue for a long time and have been working away on it (assuming their takes a year to develop comment is still true). Just means Yoshida is capable of putting up barriers just for fun lol. I feel his comments on Blue Mage throw more shade than his usual, and then if we also got Samurai it would make his shirts even more intently examined (Sam and Blu from one shirt!?!?! lol).
Although they did lay some good ground work with the Immortal Flames leader, so I imagine we'll see something at some point.. I'm not sure it'll be the expansion but I'd love to see Blue Mage in job functioning capacity.
While I don't really think Spiderman is a good reference to Samurai (given Blue Mage fits better, imo) I feel Samurai is a really solid guess, so much available points to high Samurai activity past and present in the SE headquarters (in game and out).
So just for fun I'll go RDM DD, SAM DD, BLU Tank. Or if it's dancer, move SAM to Tank and DNC to Healer (the cinematic had strong dance flair, but that's the only reference I felt.. so I'm not sure about it, beyond the unique dance-y style I saw).
I'd be mildly impressed if the tshirt ended up referring to both samurai and blue mage.
Not necessarily, if what said is true about the new Jobs starting at lvl50, the only queue issues will be the lvl50 queues for a while, but people can still do FATEs and PotD til 60, since you won't be able to start the quests of SB on new Jobs due to not being lvl60 right when Early Access launches, and few will spend one night without sleep to level one of the new Jobs to 60, and most of those people already have a premade group, pretty much like what happened in HW launch.
Personally i don't see the point of adding another Greatsword-ish tank to the game, a Hammer Job would fit perfectly and would "sync" with Monk like Warrior "syncs" with Ninja (Blunt damage).
Or maybe it could be something along the line of the MCH/AST reveal. You know, being SAM and another job directly linked to Spidey. If it is just SAM as suspected, then the shirt speculations will definitely lose tons of credibility.
As I started to read this thread a thought occurred to me...
What if...
When preparing for another expansion, Yoshi showed up shirtless....
But YoshiP discounted that idea in another interview - saying something like Spiderman has multiple directors. He wanted players to think more about the "spider web" -- whatever that means.
Personally, my vote is for Beastmaster or Blue mage.
Because every other shirt so far had pointed out very obvious traits of the jobs. Batman and Scarlet Witch had to do with the name and 007 with the use of guns/gadgets. Now, implying the name of the director is unlike the previous hints and is more of a conspiracy theory.
