What's your first impression of Eureka?

Just wondering, is the XP gain in an 8-person group supposed to be terrible?

A group of lv1 and 2 characters killing lv2 and 3 mobs, I was getting 1-3xp per kill and that's with 20+ chain bonus. Running around with one partner and we're getting 25-30xp per kill(but not getting the chains required to get the crystals).

Is it meant to be a trade off? Low xp gain in return for crystals? No having your cake and eating it too?

I'm actually fine with having to spend a lot of effort on it, it's the mindless repetetive grind that consists of killing as many generic monsters within a time limit to get the chain bonuses you need to possibly get drops, of which you need ludicrous amounts for gear that was outdated 3 months ago, which, if you somehow manage to do all the efforts you still end up with worse gear than you can get on minimal effort every week by doing normal mode raids/tomestone grind.

Good design would have balanced the final reward against the effort required - something that seems to have been blissfully forgotten in this case.

The last group I was in we were all lvl 4s and I think a couple 5s. We were killing lvl 9 bombs and getting over 100 exp per kill. The only time I've seen the gains of only 1-10 is when you're fighting mobs other people have tagged.

You can feel SE forgot a little thing with eureka,they launch it without thinking that :

IT wassuppose to come out some month already,and they ddint think that since it came out late,maybe tehy should tweak or remove some step in the relic
If it was out when it should have been,the relic would be releveant,but here ? its way too late for that the relic are total trash,better do the easiest Primal and get a 355 than that garbage that is eureka,there is no goal,you farm and ? you get outdated weapon,thanks SE

my impression of eureka is bad enough that it actually made me come to these forums just to watch the flames. i have nothing to add to the discussion because i believe, at its core, nothing can fix it. true, there are plenty of things i could do instead, but it all just leaves a bad taste in my mouth and makes me not want to log on at all. if i were more invested into this game, i would probably feel personally insulted.

Relic has been and always be a grinding process.
This FF11 style where you have chance to make a new friend or do your bidding in front of God of RNG.

I think it's a little bit of both here, actually.

Its really bad when people call for the resignation of Yoshi-p. Though I enjoyed Eureka just the 4300 Protean Crystals is a bit excessive I think somewhere around 2700 is good

First off, we heard about this 17 months ago. It pulled resources from other sections of content, such as dungeons as an example. It was being delayed to, by expectation of delays, make sure it's ready when it comes out.

Second of all, nobody's hating the grind itself. I do not mind grinding. I've done it before. Grinding isn't an issue, it's how well it can keep my attention.

I got up to level 5 on WHM in parties. And while members were still taking a lot of damage, I legit almost fell asleep multiple times. Hours into that, I wanted to snooze. It's boring. There's no flavor. If I wanted to spend my time beating on a monster, I have the ENTIRE GAME to go do that in. Make fun objectives. Make interesting interactions or explorations that reward me. Or more importantly, don't give me already outdated gear as my huge reward.

You basically buy them with the resources + the prev step in it.

It's the same resource for them all, minus the last step of each item having its own resource. So if you pick up 2 upgrades of the ast weapon, you'll still be at step 1 for the RDM one because that's just how the vendor works.

I expected a grind; but I expected it to be at least for gear that wasn’t already outclassed by current crafted or Sigmascape NM gear. If the relic armor had been i355/i360, then I would probably feel like the grind was more worth it, since it would give a viable alternative at least, especially for those who don’t raid, since that has always been the purpose of relics. But, as it stands now, none of the jobs I play frequently would actually benefit from the i355 weapon or the i350 gear, because they’re already geared with an i355 weapon and i350 gear (or better, if we’re talking about BRD).

I don’t know. Like I said in my novel worth of early-morning-grind feedback, trying to reserve my judgment until I level up more and see how things are at level 10, 15, 20. I do agree with some posters that have expressed concerns about soloing the content. I understand the purpose of encouraging party formation and interaction and the like, but for those that prefer to solo-grind, this may not be a viable option in Eureka. We’ll just have to see, I guess.
