Isn't that the Truth? So I say the same to you:
"This is a forum. Don't like it? Tough luck for you, friend. :P"
heres the real deal, you shouldnt be investing in promises, only pay for the game if you enjoy it now. If not, theres no reason to stay, you can come back when/if it offers something you enjoy. I dont think anyone should pay other than if they want to play the game.
I think this is what yoshida is getting at, hes going to institute the fee, after the next patch, two months from now, if you like that patch and what the game is right now, then play. If not, he hopes you ll check on it with each update and see if you want to return.
You are in control of your own wallet, people should only pay if they enjoy the current product. They should only come back when they enjoy the product. The free time is over, now FFXIV will have to sink or swim.
honestly 2.0 is irrelevant to this game now, hes asking you to pay now, when 2.0 comes out, it will be a different enough product that they will have a new trial period. If all you want is 2.0 you can come back then. No one is asking you to invest in 2.0, they are asking you to play for the game you are currently playing, or choose not to.
Even in the face of BlueGartr demonstrably showing that it's possible SE could make more money by lowering the price...
You guys want to argue that they should charge full price and make less money out of some sort of misguided "I'm more blindly loyal than you" contest? I just don't see a convincing argument coming out of those arguing for full price here. I was hoping one would turn up, but I think I should get used to disappointment.
The fact that you're looking for an "argument for full price" clearly demonstrates you haven't been paying attention. If you enjoy the game enough, you'll pay full price; if you don't, then you won't.
I'm not arguing about how much SE should charge, I'm saying your justifications for wanting the game for half price are nonsense. The only good argument for not wanting to pay full price is that you don't enjoy the game enough to pay full price. If that were the case, you wouldn't be here whining on the forums - you'd just leave.
I'm sorry, I know I've already responded to this, but this honestly deserves it's own post for being so obnoxious.
Look at how entitled you must feel - other players need to give you a reason to pay the price that SE set for the game? Go to hell. It's one thing to have a reasonable discussion about what you personally feel is an appropriate price for the game. It's quite another to whine about how no one will tell you why you should pay.
Are you guys even getting the economic argument about how a lower price point could possibly result in more overall revenue? Because you don't seem to be addressing that point that a lot of people are making. That's why I linked the info about the price elasticity of demand.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Price_elasticity_of_demand
Due to the circumstances surrounding this game, it is probably more elastic than similar MMO products, thus a lower price point would possibly result in more revenue.
Gamers are consumers of a product. They are subject to the same economic forces as everyone else in the world.
