crosstraited mantra is 5%
Printable View
I use Internal Release, Mercy Stroke, Second Wind, Bloodbath (nice when you know you are going to be taking damage but still want to use Blood for Blood) and for the last slot Mantra. I doubt Foresight reduces damage by much, maybe 5%? I'd have to test it. And physical damage only. Mantra might only be 5% but I can always find a use for it.
Foresight raises defense by 20%, but yeah, I think it's somewhere near 5% mitigation; there were numbers posted somewhere, heck if i can remember where though. I took it off my bar many moons ago and have never missed it.
Many folks play more defensively when they pop defensive cooldowns, too. Bloodbath piles up pretty quickly as well. It isn't that it doesn't do anything, I just see a better return on mantra. There are just very few situations where saving myself 5% of physical damage would outweigh 5% healing to the area.
For solo or something, by all means, rock the foresight... I'm pretty lazy solo, though. I only use LS heh.
Foresight can help you jump right back to Garuda EX without waiting for Wicked Wheel, if your overall HP is high enough.
These are missed skill with 463 accuracy. Sorry if I don't have the fancy parser stuff like most people.

Guys, I am struggling to hit from behind with impulse drive consistently after I start with heavy thrust. How are y'all doing it more often?
Single/Solo combat? It's easiest to use a Stun for positioning abilities. So you'll want to go Heavy Thrust -> Leg Sweep (To stun), then quickly use impulse drive.

In this image, underneath Ifrit, you can see this Red Marker underneath him correct? That "Pizza Cut-Out" on the Red Circle Marker indicates where Rear/Behind abilities, like Impulse Drive, will trigger. That's the area you want to aim for.
A little off topic but does anybody know how to focus target an enemy without changing your current target.
I know /focustarget works simply on the target you have selected and I'm not sure you can add any type of target identifier to that command such as <t> or <le> etc..
My goal in this is to focus target Garuda in Garuda EX after every jump without switching my current target.
Marks stay on targets when they jump correct?
So you could always mark Garuda and have this set-up:
Mark Garuda with Circle
Then have:
/Focustarget <circle>
That'll just focus target whoever you marked as circle1, which is garuda
Alternatively, if you set your MT-Tank to #2 (you're always #1) & OT-Tank as #3 in your Party Order, you could have this:
/assist <2>
/focustarget <t>
/assist <3>
That macro will quickly change your target to whoever the MT is targetting, focus target, then re-target whoever your OT is targetting.
Or, you could have:
/assist <2>
/focustarget <t>
/targetlastenemy
This will Target your OT, Focus Target, then re-target whoever you were targetting last (in this instance, Suprana/Chirada?)]
You could always change the <2> to tanks name instead, if you're always playing with a Static Group, so it would be:
/assist "Main Tank Name"
/focustarget <t>
/targetlastenemy
Made these off the top of my head, so you'll have to test them, but in theory should work. First method seems more reliable to me if Marking lasts throughout jumps. Let me go through the macro list quickly and see if there's something I missed.
EDIT: Just tested the first macro on some trash outside. As long as the marker stays on Garuda when she jumps, that macro WILL work. It's highlighted in bold.
no unfortunately marks do not stay :(
[EDIT] I was really hoping there was a way to mark by name ie.
/target 'Garuda' or <Garuda> or <"Garuda">
/focustarget
/target <lastenemy>
That's odd, as markers stay on the dead Moogles :O
Uhm, you could try any of the other ones I suggested, mainly:
/assist "Main Tank Name"
/focustarget <t>
/targetlasttarget
There's also
/targetenemy (target's nearest enemy)
/focustarget <t>
/targetlasttarget
?
EDIT: Edited last line of the two macro commands
See if it works.
:( Well I tried at least :3
If I had my WAR geared enough for Garuda EX, I'd go and test some macro's. But, something along the lines of the last macro I wrote, along with yours should work regardless of Job. If Garuda is your last target all throughout the fight even right after the jumps, then /focustarget <lasttarget> could also work, if you're MTing, as you're only ever going to be alternating between Garuda and 1 of the twins.
I've just gotten really quick at reapplying my Focus Target on Garuda =\
Not sure if this helps you, but markings should persist between "jumps" (Ifrit dashes, Titan geocrush etc). So you can, say, mark Garuda with a square and make:
/focustarget <square>
Edit: I should really make sure I'm on the latest page before responding, haha.
If you're a clicker, you can just click Garuda's name on enemy list and hit shift+F real quick, or make a button to target last-targeted enemy (/target <lt> OR /target <le>).
Won the lottery last night :)
Got Allgan legs on Turn 1, hands on Turn 2, and maiming ring dropped on Turn 4. Unfortunately, we all got the 90000 error just after beating Turn 4, so nobody got to lot on the gear. We're also locked into Turn 5 (with no gear to show for Turn 4), so hopefully it'll be fixed. Either way, jeez, what a lucky night.
90000 error came an hour before maintenance, I think it happened to everyone on instance servers.
Certainly wasn't everyone. My coil team ran from an hour and a half before maintenance to half an hour before maintenance, did T1-4, and had no connection issues whatsoever.
On the topic of loot, been clearing T2 for months and STILL have yet to see the Allagan Gauntlets drop for me yet. Where are all the DRG drops every other coil group complains about?
Okay, well it certainly happened to other people on our server that happened to be in an instance at the time.
Before these drops, I had only seen the Ring of Maiming, and the Chest for about 2 months of coil running (passed the chest to my friend). Need that dang visor! I have entirely too much accuracy now XD
I swear, it usually seems the game likes to drop loot that is not useful to the current party configuration, ESPECIALLY in CT. It hurts me every time I see a CT MNK piece go to the trash, that stuff looks so cool!
I'm sure the percentages are equal but it sure feels like they aren't. Just anecdotally it seems the pants and gloves have the worst drop rate (and yet are the two required to help make up the lost accuracy on the weapon), and everything else Dragoon specific drops like gangbusters, and yet are generally the most useless/interchangeable pieces.
I've been doing Coil since about the second week of the game and I only got my pants a week ago and have yet to see the gloves.
Smallish sample size but I found it interesting regardless. http://legacyffxiv.com/index.php/events.php?id=17
This is clearly influenced by pre patch Turn 1 when Maiming tassets and earrings droppped like gangbusters.
I'm at 3 months+ without seeing the gloves or any rings yet.
I seen 3 earrings of maiming, and a trouser.
Since end of September/Early October, 0 Gloves of Maiming, 0 Rings of Striking. Saw my first Visor of Maiming 2 weeks ago. Seriously, all we get is Bard & Healer loot :(
My group gets a ton of DRG drops, it's just always the SAME drops (body/hands/feet) over and over rather than the stuff we need.
Totally not envious of you and your FC right now...
Other than the drops I've never seen (That also includes Choker of Striking), and seeing 2 Dragoon Belts, I've only ever seen 1 of everything else, and I'm the only one in my Coil Group with 'em. (Except the chest, cause who seriously wants that crap?)
I've been using the chest for ages, spending myth to gear my healer and tank up ^^
I parsed 1 clean miss on Twintania last night with 471 acc. It was on a Disembowel and the preceding ID landed, as well as the SSD+CT right afterwards.
I also missed twice on Cad with my 445 acc set ... didn't notice that I forgot to change gear from when I was doing primal sells. Somehow I was pressing buttons fast enough to run out of TP right at the end of the 4 minute fight, too. I used my first invig slightly late (at 380-ish TP). Didn't realize I had gone through that much ...
My group has only cleared t2 so far this week, but we saw the Maiming and Striking Earrings (Caster Head and Bracelets were the others); now both our DRG have both Earrings...too bad Titan's are better (now, to actually get them...)
Still no Gloves...and we're still down one set of pants too :( Hopefully we get the Ring and Head to drop form T4 this week...
looks like we're back up in the 470's
Got mah Spear ^.^
Now if only the boots...
It's weird to me as well that people always say DRG gear drops in coil. My group never really seemed to see much other than the terrible belt and chest from turn 1. All of the good pieces, like the pants, gloves, ect, have only ever dropped once, and some accessories have never dropped at all in the months we have been doing coil. I guess rng gonna rng. We only ever seem to see caster dps and bard loot. Heck the first few times we killed Twin we only saw bows drop. Talk about irritating.
