Been sending voyages to southern trench, but no pipe unlocked yet. Is it a random chance?
So for unlocking new zones Surveillance doesn't matter or does it? Debating if I should focus heavily on it or put everything into Speed.
I am going to say it is random but influenced by Surveillance.
So more Surveillance for better odds or more Speed for more chances? Can you double your trips to the southern trench? If so I would vote for speed.
Edit: Nald'thal's Pipe, Abroader Otter. One retrieve w/ 175 Surveillance.
I'm catching up on submersibles and while for airships it went unexpectedly smooth, I find myself "drowned" in the maritime field!
Could someone kindly give me 3 of the best builds for submersibles?
If yes, please, do it as if I was 5.
Thank you so very much.
Survey makes no differnace. have unlocked entire maps on just SSSS and UUUU builds just fine. its a (roughly) 30% unlock chance, but is pure rng. it common for people to get stuck on sectors for weeks, or open a load of them in one hit, thats just how rng works. just keep hitting it and pray to the rng gods. You best bet is a high speed/range build, and hit as many sectors that have a unlcok on them at once as you can, and spam that shizzel.
With the new levels and new sectors, what are the current farming builds?
I get the feeling that 190 surveillance might not be enough.
the discord (link on first page) has all the current BIS builds listed (there are several depending on what you are going for). 190 is the higest needed atm
i use 2 subs with a c+u+u+sy+ to farm i think its enough i found a meerkat with this build
My subs are modified CUUSY and I have found all of the new items without issue (and like 7 meerkats since patch). Unfortunately the new pet doesn't have anywhere as much sale demand as the meerkat did and the meerkat drop rate is so high now that they are quickly dropping in price. Its going to take awhile for the price of Pure Titanium/Kamacite to go down to justify the cost of making modified sub frames now as there really isn't anything of value worth the investment since furniture sales have always been finicky.
Hellu! Dunno if this is the right forum I'm new to forums sori.
I have 2 questions
- could someone recommend help me find a good solution for 4 builds? I'm aiming to get modified version of the ones recommended.
If it's possible to get 2 fast once to spam example crypto log and 2 for long runs that gather more items?
Or do u have any other suggestion? There are very many builds and Im really bad at math and thinking mathematically so I just end up in a corner.
High ends builds are are well appreciated I have no problem gathering stuff I have msny retainers and many alts
Thank u for answering i hope someone can help me!
I made 60 million gil off of meerkat drops. It would have been a lot more if I had known they were going to crash the market by making it a super common drop in the same area the new minion dropped from (really bad design choice). As it was, I got 4 meerkats from Coldtoe before the new zones were added, and it was good coin and well worth the timecompared to anything else I could have been going for at the time. Now, the meerkats are so common they're quickly becoming trash drops like the sharksucker or abroader otter minions. Silver Dasher seems a bit more common than the meerkat as well and its prices are quickly deteriorating from what they were. It just being yet another lil birdie minion doesn't help it's demand either. I managed to get one early and sell it for a nice sum, but I expect by the time I get another (on top of the one I will use for myself), it will be selling for only a fraction of where it is at even now. Hoping for some sintered whetstones but so far no luck on that front.:(
Not sure what other people are doing by I have a set up that works for me on both types of trips. I have modified CUYC going for double dip long trips for anything besides golden boules and sintered whetstones, and a speedy, powerful 1-trip build of modified CUUC for the high-end stuff. You can't double dip and still hit the surveillance necessary to get Golden Boules or Sintered Whetstones, so you might as well focus on a max speed build that maintains the necessary surveillance. You don't actually need the modified C hull or Y bow, but the +10 speed shaves an hour off the trips, so it can help.
For those wondering what the Crystallized Coral looks like, we completed ours a couple days ago:

It also makes bubble/water sound effects if you stand close by to it! :)
sintered whetstones are a myth.
I got enough sintered early on, but selling that finished furnishing is impossible.
furnishings are really subjective/hit or miss imo. it all comes down to personal taste and to be honest the crystallized coral is more a "trophy" style looking piece than what could fit into someone's idea/theme for a home. you don't really see people gushing over how it looks either so there's that.
Is there a minimum surveillance stat for the cocobolo lumbers? I've had 4 subs out since they came out and only gotten it once, before I upgraded all my subs.
Getting TONS of meerkats though, at least 2 per week.
Minimum surveillance needed was 150 in the initial zones if I remember correctly. You've definitely got enough Surveillance if you're getting Meerkats.
Try switching out parts to lower your Surveillance to 165. That will reduce competing loot options in the higher sectors so you're more likely to get Cocobolo back.
You could also send your subs to South Isle/Wreckage/Sea of Ash 1. You'll still be competing against the full loot tables but the distance is shorter so you can make more frequent trips.
A final option would be to check with other FCs and see if they have any extra. The Sub Discord has a trading section by data center.
When traveling from the mystic basin(completed), and (between) changing course to Cobalt shoals 'Concealed Bay' was discovered. (Before Cobalt Shoals was reached)
I am having extreme difficulty getting the Sea of Ash 3 voyages to discover the new areas.
Sending two subs.
Sub 1:
Surveillance: 180
Retrieval: 80
Speed: 85
Range: 40
Favor: 80
Sub 2:
Surveillance: 115
Retrieval: 35
Speed: 75
Range: 115
Favor: 80
So any advice for me?
It's all RNG. Keep sending your subs there until they're finally discovered.
I remember seeing a comment that retrieval might be more important than surveillance in unlocking new sectors but I don't know if there was ever any confirmation. If true, you may want to swap parts on your Sub 2.
Unfortunately, it would seem Pepper's FFXIV Ship Guide 5.2 is no more. Can anyone else confirm this?
This one? Seems to still be there if that's it.
Thanks for that, I'll see how it goes.
If you can only deploy 4 airships/submersibles at once what is the point of building more than 4?
There are still valuable crafting materials players want that come only from airships (though one is more seasonal in value). I wouldn't discourage anyone from running an airship if they want to be selling those items.
It would be nice if at least one of the new FC ranks increased voyage limit by one. SE must have some entitlements planned for later release or there would have been no reason to add ranks 21-30.
Hi,
does anyone know of an up-to-date loot list for the submersibles?
The list on page 1 is only an image. There's a link to a loot table there as well, but how do I know if it's not old?
I know there's a discord as well, but it's mostly about discussions or about selling things. Or I'm too stupid to use it properly, I've been searching it for like 30 minutes now...
Thank you!
The images you see on page 1 are dynamic, created on Google Drawing. When there is a change in the tables, they will update automatically. As far as I am aware, they are up to date and we are not expecting any more changes until the patch drops at some point in July, though please correct me if I am wrong.
