Funnily enough, the other day I ran into Halatali after a half hour wait on DF trying to level THM (Hate playing this class, but needed to level it for swiftcast >.<). Determined to get over my final few thousand exp for my THM Swiftcast level, I turned to my other half --who just happened to be out of his own instance-- who said he would help tank, and then I turned to my FC for a healer. Three jumped up to help and within minutes we had a full team.

It felt good to help his poor other out and we all had a good laugh for the rest of the instance. Not a bad story overall, but just evidence that not all instances ditched fall to the pits.

Perhaps if you thought of others beside yourself, Xan, and realise that they have possibly waited over half an hour to get here and your leaving will result in the best part of maybe yet another half an hour of waiting (if not more) then you would suck it up, grit your teeth, and just run through the 20-30 minute dungeon.
I main tank and so having to play a DPS class for the first time since HW's release has been quite the shock to the system. Don't take the instant pop for granted. Those poor buggers playing a DPS class have to wait (what feels like) half their life in cue just for one little dungeon which is probably vital for Story, if not, needed for levelling/Relic etc.

And yet you forced other people to either wait on a new tank or abandon-- wasting their time. All because you couldn't be bothered to run an easy dungeon for ten minutes. The fact you DC'd just to loophole around your earned penalty because you didn't want to wait 30 minutes makes it even more a dick move.

Had Void Ark yesterday, went in as AST. The other healer, a whm, was just as well geared as I was so we were pretty confident and it was going pretty smooth. First red flag - every single DPS in the alliance was either a blm, a smn or mch. this could either go awesome or be down right horrifying. There was one melee dps.

It was horrifying.

They all ignored mechanics in the Knot room, in the dark knight room (tank gathered up the dogs and tanked all three, we wiped once because DAT HOWL x 3 IN A ROW AND VUL STACKS). We wiped 6 times on the tentacle boss because the blms were all "LEY LINES" and wouldn't move out of the way of AOEs or line attacks. MCH didn't use bishop to help me and the whm out because we were dumping most of our mp on raises. SMN was too busy staying out of range to raise the dead or get heals.

I used the healer LB twice (did I ever mention how pretty AST LB is?) Our tank was main tank so, that was going really well and then one of the dps made a quip about how the gear won't help our crappy healing.

I lost it. I can't heal through 6 vulnerability stacks on tentacles when no one does any of the mechanics. the WHM ate the penalty and I left soon after. There was no saving this group lmao.

While healing Cutter's Cry, I noticed the tank was unusually squishy. So I had a look at his gear, wich wasnt very up to date. but oddly, he was wearing no helmet at all. When I asked him about this, he said he couldnt afford one. (???) He then found a solution for the problem, and put on a dream hat.

My FC-friend told me yesterday, he met a tank in some low level dungeon who was just wearing gauntlets, trousers and some accessoirs xD

I joined an in progress (35 minutes elapsed) Cutter's Cry last week on my MCH for DR: Leveling. The tank (DRK) had unusually low hp and the group was waiting on a healer to join. I decided to take a look at the tanks gear and was blown away with their gear selection. They had on the Foestriker's set (level 15 DoW set) with dex/int/mnd accessories equipped and the stock level 30 weapon. Assuming they were new to tanking, I decided to ask why they chose that gear to use and to let them know that gear designated for tank class/jobs will always be better to use over DoW gear due to the armor on them. Was then told "It's my character, I'll do what I want and how I want".

Instead of getting into an argument, I decided to just bite my tongue and let him fail at the game while we waited for a healer to show up. During this time I decided to see what other jobs this DRK had leveled and almost fell out of my chair when I saw he had PLD at 60 (leaving me thinking he had to have known how horrid his gear choice was). Another 10 minutes pass and tank decides to leave after a few healers dropped from this guy getting torn to pieces by the mobs instantly. New tank and I think our third healer (after I joined) jump in and the rest of the instance was smooth sailing.

Long story short, the excuse of "It's my game, I'll play how I want" isn't a valid argument when playing with random others. Yes, it is your game, but it isn't your time you are wasting. If you want to play in your own terrible way, then find other like minded people and play with them for group content. Don't jump into DF or PF content to waste other's people time or force them to carry you. (None of this applies to new players or those looking to listen to advice given to improve gameplay).

I que up with bf(BLM) get awesome group because other friend of mine happened to que at same time!

Except... this WHM. I don't know WHY, but he/she started trolling. I think it was trash after 1st boss which WHM happened to pull accidently I believe. Full alliance wasn't even in and it was going to end up badly anyway. Bf was trying to kill adds on "wrong" place that WHM couldn't heal him and he started whining "BLM, do you see where C mark is? C C C C C C C C C" Of course, we wiped and right after we see vote kick go on bf. Obviously it didn't go off, but then WHM started asking to be kicked. We refused.

You can imagine how rest of the run went. WHM never left, kept healing us but every time asking to be kicked or saying something stupid on /a to everyone. Last boss he did die which made me giggle inside.

But tank legs never dropped. *sadface*

Tried to queue up for Void Ark last night with half my static. Ten...twenty minutes goes by and one by one they drop and we requeued until it was just me and my static leader. Still failed to queue. He called it a night, so I queued by myself and clicked join in progress. It pops...42 min in progress...

Predictably I've come in at Cuchulainn, where the party has already wiped at least once. We got me and some other dps on another alliance in progress and tried again and things started off well but I could see why they wiped. A alliance (mine) healers kept dropping the ball. I never once saw their scholar throw out an adlo. When I died, a summoner from another alliance raised me. I popped all my self healing cooldowns, didn't get any heals, and when the black phlegm was up I died trying to take one out. We wiped again even after a healer LB3.

We stuck through it, though, actually cleared Cuchulainn (I was dead again lol) and proceeded to clear Echidna with minimal problems.

The best part? The DRG gloves, the only piece I needed from Void Ark for DRG, dropped for me and the other DRG had gotten a belt from Cuchulainn so I didn't have any competition. I won't have to run it again on DRG! Or again this week! \o/

Commed the tank because he did his very best despite the healers running around like brainless chickens and letting him die when he MT'd. >_<

That sounds like the run last night I bailed out of...everyone was not moving out of the barf. Since I was playing monk and running through boss for it I could see everyone not moving...after the second time of that and not being healed I left. I had just gotten my healer hat before that in the run so I just need to get my farthing now lol. My raid group wanted to run thordan too so it was additional incentive to leave, usually I don't leave duties after wipes.

Yes, pointed remarks about barf and positioning were made. ;) Also one of the healers snarked about offering A alliance healers raises that they never accepted.

Got my first real kick today! :)

Had one of those VA/24 man teams with no MT. Also people were using the "Let's take the targeted person to the middle of the crowd", and "Adds can't hurt you, if you don't hurt them" tactics. Obviously, the first boss was a wipe. After a few joking comments, the regular you see after a such a bad performance, half the alliance left.

My parties tank, the last one left starts chirping up about how he "was OT, but my triple fell cleaves took aggro." despite the one who finally stepped up to MT being signifigantly less geared than him. After a few of these comments and myself wanting to tell him to stop swinging his fell cleave around like it was a giant phallus, I said something like "Yes yes, we all understand that your amazing fell cleave ripped hate off the lower geared tank." what I assume was his SMN friend chirped up too. (that one had some annoying macros btw. like 4 /p comments about Virus type ones.) I said Awww I'm sorry, and got the boot, which was nice, because I wanted out and new players had joined.

Happened today during the daily roulette.

The dungeon was Saint Mocianne's Arboretum. We was at the gate before the second boss.

I can agree that they are in no way optimizing their DPS. No doubt they could improve. But as Fluestergras mentioned, there are MUCH worse rotations a BLM can do. The only issue I had was that he made it seem as if he gave no real advice to the BLM and then decided based on a player doing subpar dmg, he would simply let them die, then blame them for a dungeon run being slow. Saying that a player ignored advice and mechanics after being advised to how they work, then sure, I would of agreed 100% with the poster. Reading a post along the lines of, "I didn't like how they played their role, so I didn't play mine correctly to teach them a lesson" on the otherhand, I do not support.

Maybe cause of my angry when being called elitish when trying to help and my bad english have lead to some misunderstanding, sr for that.
If i was a real elitist, i will ask her to use ley line/enochian/fire IV/bliz IV rotation -whick she didnt use at all, maybe sometime ley line, enochian but zero fire/bliz IV- to maxium damage output as blm but no, all i asked her is to use bliz III instead of cast 4 bliz I to get the full stacks of umbral ice quicker, use Fire I after fire III to deal more damage not use only 2 Fire III ( she only use 2 fire III after have full 3 umbral ice buff and then cast bliz I again ), what i have back ? she's totally ignore me, just said this is her playstyle.
We have a newbie in that dungeon, but that the drg not her, and he didnt die even once, the tank alway give the big detail about boss like seduced, bad breath, bee crossfire .... before boss fight, did he -the drg- get hit by crossfire bee, yes, did he get seduced, yes but after that you can see how he try to fix it and get better.
When i said "i let her die" doesnt mean i dont heal her, i even cast balance, arrow on her to help her "deal more damage" with her terrible rotation, bole to help her surrvive, in boss 2 she die when the boss is about 10% hp so i decide to keep the other 2 alive and help dps to burst down the boss ( rude but sure that my dps is way higher than her ). At final boss she die when boss is about 15% hp, the other dps get seduced and i am at low mana ( about 2-3k mana ) cause of long fight healing, so i may be wrong but at that time i decide to not wasting my mana cast raise for her, then i focus on the other dps and the tank to keep them alive.
I have met a lot of "strange" players too, like a blm dont use enochian, bard/mch dont use minuet/guass, tank that dont use tank stance or cd, smn only cast dot not casting ruin, ice mage ... but did i get mad at them ? No, i dont do it because when i or the other teammate said "do you know how to play ...", they give me a reason for doing that like " the enochian buff control is too stressful for me" "i dont like the casttime" "i want to dps as a tank" ... not like yesterday when what i got was "that is my playstyle" "i do what i want" "this is just a game"

In response to all those sub optimal BLM posts lately, I leveled BLM to 60, did okay until 60, then I had trouble figuring out the rotation at 60 and spent one dungeon doing some pretty sub optimal damage, but I was with a team and apologized for my fresh 60 approach to the job. Then I put BLM on the back burner until I have time to look at the recommended rotation and practice on a dummy. SMN has been far more flexible and intuitive to me, and Enochian seems a lot harsher than having Blood of the Dragon fall off as dragoon.

Basically if you can't play the class optimally, and you know that, why not try other jobs until you find a good fit? Rather than continue to waste others time by refusing to take constructive criticism or try to get better.

Personally, I have noticed a massive uptake in terrible tanks. I prefer leveling instances over FATE grinding, so inevitably i get to have a roulette of random terrible tanks. I ran Sohm Al today and had a Dark Knight who couldn't hold threat and then blamed it on my because he was marking and he felt I shouldn't be AoEing. Then I got vote kicked. Before that I did level 50 roulette as SCH, the PLD was level 53 and didn't know how to use cool downs or use flash. I feel like its an invasion of the not-so-good-extremely-bad tanks.

I got Stone Vigil HM for my roulette and everything was going fine, but right before the first boss, the tank and healer just left. Didn't say anything, just gone. I went to my FC and LSes and got replacements and we knocked it out in under 15 mins. It was just weird.

Not the only Void Ark run this has happened in, but happening too many times that it makes me question things.

Multiple Bards, usually 3-4 in the entire raid. And usually I'm the only one singing even after repeatedly pointing this out. Why.

(Although I did run into that one in-progress Void Ark run last week as a Bard where there were 7 Bards, 6 BLM, and 2 DRG as our DPS. And we actually did use alliance chat to rotate Foe Requiem there. One of the Black Mages joked that we were having a contest to see who was the worst singer, the metric being 'which one makes the bosses' ears bleed the most'.)

Not a negative story but I randomly joined a Titan HM fight as my healer. Learned the other healer instantly left after the first wipe and most of the people were new. Was just wipe after wipe and eventually someone felt that they should leave because they keep dying..thankfully I convinced that person to stay. Anyways, after around 40 minutes of constant wiping we finally beat the boss and it just felt really nice that I was thanked for not abandoning the team and staying to the end...I still get warm feelings thinking about that fight.

Something odd happened yesterday on my lvl50 roulette. Not that it's uncommon, it keeps happening specially in low level content. And it's about players who aren't bots (I want to think they aren't) but play as if the rest of the party were just NPCs and don't even read the chat. Do they have the chatbox hidden?
Anyways, zone into Wanderer's normal, me as blm, a warrior, a monk (or was he ninja?) and this kind of weird WHM. Bonus pops and since the healer is watching the opening cs I'm guessing it's our bonus. Protect, SS2 hard cast, done, we start. First hint: WHM nukes without cleric and leaves the tank at around 30% HP. Then starts to spam cure3. Finish pull and proceed to the next. Tank doesn't pull too big since we got a newbie and things go fine, no danger. Weird heals though, always cure3 and when things got a lil excited, medica2 spam. And the stone2 nuking without cleric. WHM is dry and tank tells her to not spam aoe heals or she will run oom. At the same time the tank is typing I just turned on my keyboard (ps4 peasant here) and wrote "Do you know how healing spells work?"
This was directed at the WHM but it came out as if I was answering the tank hehe. Tank: "..." I apologized and said I was typing as she was. Anyhow, the healer doesn't seem to read, no answer and proceeds like before. Got to the flan boss and I wondered in party if she was a bot, but apparently no, since she even activated some of the switches earlier. She died when the flan slapped her hard but no issue, it was dead shortly after and she respawned and rebuffed. So yeah, no chaltlog reading, no advice taking, she also was a PSN user by the ID after I checked her so no botting there.
I've seen far too many players like that sadly, those who either have the chatbox hidden from the UI or just plain ignore :/ Do they know this game is online aka together with other real people?

I once ran into a couple in Expert Roulette (they spent the whole dungeon practically ERPing in party chat) they were a WHM/DRK couple, while my boyfriend and I were DRG/MNK.

They were lucky we could burn things down fast because neither of them knew how to play at level 60. WHM was only using Cure III (Your WHM reminded me of my this WHM, however we're not from the same data center.) and DRK was only using Grit, their aggro AoE, and no buffs... even on bosses.

Anyway, the dungeon took about 30min longer than it should have because the two of them needed to constantly stop to type out how much they wanted to... uh... "repopulate their server" I guess. The WHM even removed her pants so show she was serious. Smh.

I have a couple. Not particularly horrific either of them but still, weird enough for me to remember them. Both are as a tank.

First is Garuda normal. Joined in progress, and was greeted by carnage. Turned out the dragoon thought he was a tank ._. Even after I'd taken Garuda, he still stood in front of it and ate its cleave attack. He didn't even move for slipstream. The healer still kept him up though, amazingly and we cleared first go. Not really that bad, but it's the first I've seen this happen. Is this common or was I just unlucky?

Second is Titan normal. This one was so frustrating since I'm on ps4 and keyboard wasn't working at the time so I couldn't say anything. Healer tries to heal in cleric stance on the first attempt and was healing me for less than 250. I burned through every cooldown but still went down and we wiped. Second attempt, he didn't use cleric but still barely heals for 300hp. We barely clear. He only used cure I and medica, no regen, cure II. I have no idea how he made it to lvl36 like that.

To be fair, Regen would be a fairly new spell in a WHM arsenal at that point, which is further complicated by the fact that you generally don't want to cast it BEFORE a pull, and Titan is also the first fight in the game where party wide damage is occurring on a regular basis. For healers, especially those that started the game as one, Titan is a massive step up in difficulty and will likely cause them to panic like hell. You don't get Shroud of Saints for that fight either, so using Cure II too much will cause WHMs to run out of MP in that fight.

Source: A WHM who got so absolutely destroyed by Titan the first time around that the party had to vote abandon. :(

Unless the WHM was level 34 and unsynced, of course.
Alternately, isn't the skill gained through the class quests? It isn't hard for a new player to miss those, or not get around to them immediately upon leveling. Especially if they were following the MSQ leading up to the Titan fight.

Not a bad story, but not really a good one either. Ive been spamming crystal tower raids the past week for some of that sweet bard glamour.

Wednesday night I got in 3 runs with queue times. Well my gear was like all 10%. I said aw I'll get it tomorrow when I log on. I log on last night, queue up right away because queue times are usually at least 30 minutes. Miraculously it pops right away, world of darkness.

Something goes off in the first trash pack (someone chastised that it could have been stunned) that destroyed me. And I see the long list of all my hear hitting 0%. And I remember that I was supposed to repair.

Luckily I had my i200 relic bow to replace my broken eso bow with, but I only had about 2700 hp. I alerted the group that they could kick me if they wanted, no one wanted to (thanks you guys) and the healers kept an eye on me, but there were some big hits that just destroyed me. Thanks to those people for carrying my ass lol

I remember my first time doing titan as a healer... it was horrible. I went in thinking, psh, just titan, nbd. Dear lord, I didn't know yet. All you lovely healers out there, my heart goes out to you precious precious angels. One of my DPS died (the newbie too :( poor fella) because I didn't know how to manage my MP well yet. Blew too many Cure II's that weren't free when the tank took big hits and was using medica too much to heal party wide dmg. Titan was at like, 75% hp still and I looked at my mana bar and was like "Oh god. I'm almost empty o.O" Popped a hi-ether and it seemed like I got practically no MP back T_T I was a fresh lvl 34 healer for this as well, so I didn't even have regen. I was barely keeping the tank and the dragoon alive (and me of course) with Cure I's and praying for cure II proc's to save me (and they did). There were a few instances where I was literally sitting with no MP and pressing the cure button like a crazed lunatic waiting for the MP to regen enough.

One time I got Titan normal for trial roulette on WHM and it was absolutely insane. Dps didn't know the fight, kept getting knocked off due to landslides, and it was just me and the PLD. I dps'd the hell out of that heart. When I got locked in jail, the PLD busted me out. It was rough and the fight went forever and at one point the PLD was kiting Titan to avoid his auto attacks while I kept him alive with regen and swapped to CS and dps'd, but after three wipes we had this unspoken determination. We stuck it out and cleared with the dps on the floor.

They didn't say anything too lewd. But they were constantly saying things like;

"Oh, honey buns. I love you so much."
"Me too. When I get out of here I'm gonna show you what kind of man I am."
"Take me. Take all of me." *Removes pants*

They were... really in a "mood" or they were having fun being trolls. Either way, as two DPS, my boyfriend and I had spent forever in queue so we didn't want to abandon ship. We did have a ton of laughs at their expense, though.
